I choose this school because of the ATA affiliation and because of great word of mouth about the instructors who teach there. I noticed this is not the same programs as ATA did way back then, but now they are geared for assisting with mental and physical wellbeing. I enjoy the warrior side of training combat sparring and learning krav maga! It is like a breath of fresh air to see a Sport/Martial Art that puts a special focus on life skills, such as; self-esteem, respect, honesty, communication, discipline. This helps teachers, as well as parents, help raise children to be healthy functioning adults... It is also a great self awareness and esteem for those adults, who need the reassurance through their effort on what they can accomplish!! They have an awesome program for children, Tiny Tigers program, my son, who has ADHD, was in this program it did him wonders for listening and ability to focus... It helped with his self confidence as he was different in school and was in different classes than mainstream and kids picked on him a lot.. he had a place to go where he felt he was good enough. I suppose I should post so you all can come and see for yourself and not spoil the fun... Ok, 1 more thing, the taekwondo kids here are awesome kids, because all the kids in their classes, like my son was, are treated just like everyone else.. the kids are having fun, exercising and learning to be great people.

I also have two kids that have started training as well and I can see a vast improvement in their attitudes and commitment to learning bjj. I usually avoid going to conditioning classes because i just not your typical fitness Felicia. Her conditioning classes were broken down in a way into rotating stations which made it easier for me to focus on myself and the level i am at rather than comparing myself to everyone else in the class. In her regular classes she offers skills catered to your personal pole experience and what you want to focus on. I just feel she is an amazing individual and im the most happy i took time to visit this studio!

But I'm writing this review more so because upon leaving-- there was a safety concern in the parking lot... make sure you carry whatever defense tools you prefer when attending this studio. This isn't any fault of their own, so I wouldn't hold it against them, as they do take safety measures of covered windows and locked doors during sessions. But I thought it important to mention. Even though I have never done a spin class before, I wanted to sign up for a few reasons, 1) the women from the Drama Queens podcast recommended it, 2) I always tell myself I'll workout on vacation and never do, so if I booked a class I knew I would, 3) I wanted to try something different. I didn't know what to expect, as I normally only do workouts at home so that I don't feel self-conscious or judged if I'm not as coordinated as other folks. But I'm so glad I decided to sign up for a class at Recess -- it was an awesome experience. Bevin is an incredible instructor, plays amazing music during the class and let me go at my own pace, And even though I had to rest a few times, I never felt judged or self-conscious. She told us if we had to rest, to just dance it out while doing so, and that's what I did! Now, I'm not going to lie, spinning is hard! But it was such a fun, energizing class, and I can't thank Bevin and her team enough for all of their encouragement and kindness. I ended up taking the Cycle and Flow class a few days later with Samantha Ray, who is also a fabulous instructor and I loved that class too. If you are ever in Wilmington, I highly recommend signing up for classes at Recess during your stay, it's so much fun! They have a fan for life here in Chicago!!

I was so happy to find this dance school, it became our second home and the BDA accepted my girls…read morenot just as dancers but as family. They would give feed back and my daughters would go home and work on it and come back to dance class wanting to show that they have improved. One of my daughters wants to keep advancing in dance and Mrs.Amy sees her drive and makes sure she tells me so that i can put her in the classes she needs to perfect her craft. They just had there first showcase and you can see the hard work dedication from the dancers and the amazing teachers they have on staff.
