I finally asked how much longer and he said he was helping another customer. I left the store and went to Verizon in Matawan employee was on the phone with another customer and asked what I needed. Told her I just needed to swap routers , took all of 5 minutes and while she was on the phone helping someone. Deceptive. I cracked…read morethe screen on my iPhone and came here for a Verizon SIM chip (for an old phone to use temporarily).  The sales person said that there was a promotion where I could get a credit for trading in my broken iPhone, and that a new iPhone 12 Pro Max would cost $17/month for 30 months.  AND that he could get EVERYTHING transferred over to the new phone.   I said fine, lets do it. (I had a full backup of my broken iPhone in iTunes, but there are a few things iTunes does not back up that I usually do myself manually.  Since I wasn't expecting to buy a new phone, I had not backed up those few things). Well, after everything transferred over I was told I had to pay tax (which I expected), and a transfer fee of $50.  I was NOT told this in advance, and if I had known I would have purchased from a Verizon company store.  (This is an Verizon authorized retailer).  I asked for my old phone back and to cancel the sale, but the phone was already wiped.  I was first told of how much a convenience this is as they transferred everything.  (My family has had over a dozen iPhones and I always transfer the data on my own).  I was also told (lied to with typical salesman lines) that the promotion was about to end, and I had to buy right now.  I was told the sale was complete in their system (I hadn't signed anything yet), so that they could only offer me accessories for free.  At this point I just wanted to get out of there and took a couple of items. Three days later I check my new recurring Verizon charge and it was $44 more (not the $17 the salesman said it would be). Apparently, insurance was added even though I told him I did not want it (I get Apple Care). (On a re-visit, the manager said he tells his sales people to send everyone out with insurance. Then gives me a story on how a customer broke his phone when he left the store. right). But, the kicker is that the deal I received was only valid for certain plans, so my plan was changed to one that was $10 more a month. Really? I had to speak to a Verizon supervisor to get my old plan back. She had to override the rules. DO NOT go here.  Do yourself a favor and drive 10 minutes to a Verizon company store. Oh, and I am finding many apps on the new phone which need to be configured again.  Not having to do this was supposed to be one of the perks for having them do the $50 transfer.

I didn't know then, as I know now, that this is NOT an official Verizon store. No wonder the "customer service" rep I talked to at this place couldn't help me. Still, he was one of the rudest, most arrogant and least helpful people I've ever encountered in retail. He was totally lost with the tech as he pretended to diagnose my phone, but he blamed everybody else but himself, and ultimately told me that my phone was a lost cause. Of course he then tried to sell me on a new phone, but he didn't seem to care when I turned him down. Something told me this guy wasn't being honest, so I went to an ACTUAL Verizon store in Ocean Township and the friendly, helpful customer service rep there hooked me up with an eSIM with no charge and no problem.

A close friend suggested I contact Vinnie at Total Control Remotes. I'm glad that I did, the next day after speaking with Vinnie; we met at my house. Once I told him what I wanted, he led me through the whole process. Three days later, I have this sweet system in my apartment. Whenever I have friends over, they always compliment the system and tell me their nightmare stories of doing it themselves or using large chain stores. I don't how he did it, but the whole system is a breeze to use and operates with one remote control. I can't forget to mention that using Vinnie, even saved me some money.

I have been using Total Control Remotes (Vince) for over 5 years now. I had gone thru several other…read moreremote companies in my "ultimate home theater" quest and was disappointed with all of them. Final product was never right and I had spent good dollars for this service, only for me to have to walk them thru design and layout. Then I found Total Control Remotes. Spent some time on the phone with Vince and went over what I was wanting. I was told to email him a list of what I was trying to do and he would take care of the rest. Needless to say I was a little nervous. Vince hit it on the head, everything was perfect and well thought out. When he reviewed his design with me, he had thought of things I never would have, but were really nice to have. I have done three complete rehauls of my home theater since (in fact Vince just finished my latest remote work). The system is quite involved with video processors, dirac sound processors, atmos 7.4.4 surround, including multiple different video sources to choose from. My 5 year old twin are able to goto the theater and turn everything on and choose a movie or play video games. The wife is also able to do the same. I was very happy when guests stopped by yesterday to watch a movie but I wasn't home. My wife told them to go upstairs, the remote was sitting on the couch. People who have never used my system were able to start the theater and choose their movie. When they were done, they actually shut everything down properly as well. Not many people with intricate systems (let alone simple ones) can say their remote system is this simple and intuative that anyone can use it. This is the quality of work I have been getting from Vince for over 5 years. This is not my last theater reno/upgrade and it is not the last time Vince will be doing my automation. I highly recommend Total Control and Vince. If you need a reference then you can contact Vince and I would be glad to talk with anyone who is considering using Vince. Thanks again for everything Vince. Great Job!
