I came here to get my belly button pierced, a little over 5 months ago for my 16th birthday. i was not sure if my belly button was the right anatomy for this piercing because, when i sit my belly button collapses and that will cause your piercing to reject and be very irritated. A solution to this if you don't have the anatomy for a regular belly ring, it's called a floating navel, it still has a a cute little diamond at the top but the bottom part where the ball would go it's a flat back and it keeps your piercing from moving and collapsing onto itself like what would happen if a person with this anatomy would get the traditional piercing. but when i went into the shop i asked them before we even went back or picked the jewelry if my anatomy was correct because i wasn't sure, he looked at it said it was fine so i was excited. first off yes the regular jewelry is 60 plus the piercing charge which is a little expensive but understandable. when we went back into the piercing area he marked it when i was standing, he didn't make me sit to make sure my belly bottom didn't collapse like a piercer is supposed to do, but i didn't think anything of it until now. my piercing isn't even in my belly button like it's supposed to be, it's a surface piercing basically because i don't have the anatomy for a regular ring. Even though i asked to make sure i did and they said i did but obviously they were wrong and couldn't make the professional observation. fast forward 5 1/2 months the piercing is extremely irritated all of the time, i don't touch it ever, i clean once a day or when there are crusties, not over cleaning it, i don't sleep on it, i use saline i don't use rubbing alcohol or peroxide or ointments. so im just genuinely so pissed because that's the only thing i got for my 16th birthday and now i can't even keep it because these piercers are so uneducated. read more

I had my nose pierced here at the beginning of November. The jewelry that was used was on the long side to accommodate for swelling. On 11/21 (my birthday...) I came back in to have the jewelry length downsized and to pick out something fun since again it was my birthday. I was not allowed to handle jewelry I was shown and was only shown the options from an above vantage point. After I made my selection the piercer had me come into the room and sit down so she could get started. Surfaces in the room had not been cleaned between me and the person seen before me and there was no barrier used for the surface she placed her tools down on, she also did not do glove changes between set up and touching me. When I leaned back and she was replacing the jewelry she must have dropped part of it into my nose because she went digging with a tool. This was painful and surprising and I was given no warning. When I left things felt a little off. My nose was very angry and the jewelry felt very tight. The "stud" part of the jewelry was also a lot thicker than I was expecting and did not look very good. The next day my nose was starting to be visible irritated from the too tight jewelry and as the morning progressed it was getting very tight. By midday the jewelry had made the decision it would remove itself. This meant I had to go to a different piercer to have the jewelry put back in. It was at this point I discovered my nose had been pierced at the wrong angle and that meant it was going to heal poorly. Overall I had a terrible experience here. I was handled roughly, sold something that did not work for my anatomy/type of piercing I had received and the piercing itself was done poorly. I asked for a refund and was told they do not do refunds but I could come back into the shop to have the nostril redone. No mention of the jewelry, no apology. I am a heavily tattooed person, I retired my piercings in my 20s. I have spent a lot of time in tattoo/piercing shops and I have never experienced this level of unprofessionalism or lack of knowledge with a piercer. It's not that I am just unhappy with the jewelry I was sold. Improper jewelry for piercings can have catastrophic outcomes. People die from infections caused by improper handling/care while being pierced. Take your money and your body somewhere else. read more

I went into Asylum Studios for the first time on my 18th birthday. When I first went in I was ignored by a few employees and one of them with blue hair gave me a dirty look. I didn't really mind since it was my first time in the store and I looked like a Hobo. I got greeted by two nice men that asked me about what piercing I wanted, I wanted a bridge. So he checked my anatomy for it. When I was getting my bridge pierce it took about 10 minutes for this man to mark on my nose. He messed up the first time and had to re-pierce it to not make it crooked. He gave me a discount and cleaning supplies to make it up for him messing up, very nice guy. He felt so bad and he generally cared. After i paid, I went to sit on the couch to wait for my uber. The same girl that gave me a dirty look and a few other people were talking very inappropriately and talking about sex and other not professional conversations. If you want a professional environment this isn't the store for you. They do know what they're doing so if your just looking for experienced people this is the place. I was just unfortunate enough for them to mess up. I will be going to this store again and will update if anything changes. read more

I got my nose pierced back in October of 2023. I walked in and i believe my wait time was only 30 minutes. I was scared at first but as soon as my piercer started, it didn't hurt, clearly the healing process hurts a little but that's with any piercing. The environment is cool and the piercers try to calm you as much as they can. I highly recommend! read more

We came by 10/30/21 and it was pretty busy! Atmosphere was great though. My two girl friends and I decided to get piercings on a whim. We drove from Rockbridge County. When we arrived it was about an hour and forty-five minute wait. No big deal we were in no rush. The piercers seemed to be pretty fast and we were seen shortly after an hour. We walked around the studio and it is so clean and fun vibe. You see all the artist artwork throughout the area. Each artist has their own little "nook" for privacy instead of being over top of one another and everyone watching. There was a variety of jewelry to choose from as well as options for initial piercing. The receptionist is super friendly and has her shit together! Walked in while a group of 7ish was being worked on, was informed of the wait time and the queue ahead of me. Despite the rather lengthy list, it was a quick process in and out. The theme of the place genuinely was intriguing and even while waiting I wasn't left bored. I had walked in for a piercing, they provided me with information in a VERY courteous manner. When it was my time to go, the process was quick and simple. The piercers made me feel VERY welcomed and treated the process very carefully and with humor. They provided me with information, patience, and options so I could have it done and over with. Helped ease my anxiety over the piercing. For starters the first few issues I ran into was just blatant unprofessionalism and hygiene, there was someone that came in after me, but was tended to first anyways for whatever reason, and sat in a piercing chair to have jewelry removed, and I watched the same piercer that did mine after not clean the chair after or anything whatsoever. Cleanliness aside, the woman who did my piercings, Jess, was just very careless with it overall, very rough and quick with my piercing(I have 6 more so I am used to the pain) and also way overcharged me. On their piercing sheet up front(that is updated might I add), it costed 50$ for exactly what I was getting, and I got no special jewelry or anything different besides a standard curved bar for my eyebrow. I was charged 70$ total excluding tip. To confirm I got overcharged I later had my partner call the shop to ask how much it would be for a standard curved bar eyebrow piercing to which the receptionist answered 50-60$ depending on the type/color of jewelry but NO MORE than that. My piercing turned out okay it looks decent and so far so good, but this place is genuinely so careless and unprofessional. Go elsewhere. read more

Daniel makes the shop. He's an amazing artist, no doubt about that, but the review gets one star, as everyone there up front are jerks. The several times I've came in to ask questions, I was treated like I was bothering their discussion, as they were deep in convo- They also had their friends hanging out on the couches that they were bantering back and forth with, which also stared at me like I was stupid. I've had to call before to ask for an appt schedule, and was talked too like it killed her to answer the phone. Daniels art is great, but his reception area is terrible, and the people up front are terribly unprofessional and rude. I got a navel piercing done by Jess. Asked for titanium because my body doesn't react well with stainless steel. She charged me well over 60 dollars for the basic jewelry without diamonds "titanium". My piercing was giving me issues but I just assumed it was because the healing process takes a while. I eventually went back in to have it looked at because it wasn't getting better and the guy at the front looked at it and said I was given stainless steel. My sister has a friend who recently went in to get her belly button jewelry changed out for titanium and she was only charged $60. I was scammed by Jessica AND given the wrong jewelry. Now I'm left with a rejection scar. DO NOT let Jess do your piercings. I would give her zero stars if I could. read more

I have gotten piercing done 3 times here over the past two years. The first time was a wonderful experience, I got three helix piercings done by the male piercer. when I went back about a month later to get my conch done, I was pierced by a woman who didn't seem too happy to be there, but my piercing turned out amazing and still looks great. My issues began a few weeks ago when I came in to have three lobe piercings done. I wanted something that I felt I needed a professional to do. I was quoted $80 before anyone spoke to me. This threw me off because the online pricing for lobes was, and still is, $40 for 1 and $60 for 2. I thought that the front desk person just heard me say what I had wanted and priced accordingly. However, once in the piercing room, I was asked what kind of jewelry I wanted. I told the piercer to just put in the standard because I didn't want to pay extra for jewelry. Only after the piercings were done and I was paying did she tell me it would be $240 for my piercings. I was completely shocked. When I asked, I was told the prices changed last week. I payed because everything was already in my ears. After some research, I can tell you as I sit here, the piercings should not have cost $80 and they are still priced online as $60 for 2. My hesitancy to rate this place with two stars is that they are really good at what they do. I have never had a bad piercing from this place and I have 11. The placing is always spot on. Piercing is always fast and I would trust them to pierce anything. But the amount I was charged is completely outrageous. read more

I'm not in the habit of leaving reviews, but this place went out of it's way to mistreat me as a potential client. The tattoo artist assigned to me had to cancel our appointment twice because he was diagnosed with COVID. Of course, this can be worked out, but both times the cancelation was within 12 hours of our appointments. He actually called me 90 minutes before our first attempt, "I've had COVID all week, I don't know why the studio didn't call you sooner to reschedule." Two months later, after a second cancellation, two separate people at the studio said I should be entitled to a refund on my deposit. Instead of following through, the studio ignored 3 different texting attempts and didn't return any of my phone calls. Finally, I went into the studio to speak with someone and was told that they would have their management give me a call. Apparently, the very idea of being responsive to a client was too much for the studio, they decided to continue ignoring me instead. Any business can claim that refunds are not part of their policies. But businesses have management to step in when they are clearly in the wrong, regardless of those policies. Asylum had several opportunities to do the right thing and refused to act as a properly run business. read more

Guy threatened to give us a " painful tattoo" not professional at all, don't go there

While the initial appointment for my daughter, myself and my son in law was quick and fairly pleasant, what should have been a simple and easy follow up was treated as a beneath them inconvenience.my daughter had her nose pierced and the ball came off on day 3. We were not able to get it back in at home and called and asked what time the piercer would be in the next day and could we come in to have it put back on. Over the phone they were very friendly and said of course no problem. When she got there the next day the receptionist blew her off and acted like it was something that would take a long time. They said they didn't think they could "work her in". She got there maybe 30 minutes after they opened. She did not mess with the ball to cause it to come off so it wasn't on tight enough to begin with. Things happen, I get that but stand behind your work and be kind to your clients. Thank goodness Sub Rosa in Christiansburg cares more about people than money and they are fixing it for her. Guess we know where we will be going from now on. read more

I have gotten three piercings from Asylum. All cartilages. My first experience was fine, but the second time, (For 2 cartilage piercings) I felt as if the woman working the front desk was extremely rude to me. I waited well over an hour. I got the piercing done, and the woman who pierced me was very quiet, but nice. A couple days later, I was still experiencing awful pain, which wasn't unusual for a cartilage piercing, but had noticed that my ear was growing over the earring. I had to go back and get the earrings replaced, and when I returned, the woman working the desk (same as earlier) was pretty rude to me again. I waited for over an hour to get it fixed. Then, a few weeks later, I had noticed that it was infected pretty badly, and the lady who pierced me was very nice, but I left feeling frustrated that I had to return to the shop two times after a piercing that should not require any followup care from the shop. I have found that the long waits, the rude woman working up front, infections, and using the wrong earring the first time and having to get it fixed is enough to keep me from returning for any piercings or tattoos. read more

Jacki, the tattoo artist did a good job with my foot tattoo. This being said, she was very difficult and condescending and didn't leave room for my (the customer)'s input in MY tattoo. I went back 5 weeks later for a "free" touch up because some letters weren't connected and faded. I went in, and she barely glanced at my tattoo and said it was fine. She refused to touch it up or even examine it closer unless I'd pay her more money. She was very rude and didn't care to listen to my opinion. The employees and management were rude and unwilling to show hospitality to their paying customers. All in all, I would've chosen a different studio and wouldn't go back. read more
