SUZANNE IS MY ANGEL. Not only does she make you feel 150% comfortable when you're getting sugared, which involves taking off your pants and can be weird when you're new to it, she does such an amazing job, knows what she's doing, and answers any questions you may have. I don't think I'd normally say that the person who sugars my lady bits is considered my friend, but you can talk to her about anything and she's so relaxed and kind and easy to talk to! Her level of service is so professional and she's the reason why I refuse to get sugared by anyone else. She's really well educated on skin and hair growth and will educate you on how to take care of your skin and hair to make sure you have the best experience. I've learned so much from her and I feel like I can explain to my friends the benefits of sugaring since she's taught me so much. I highly recommend booking with her and you will not regret it! read more

I learned about being "sugared" on yelp and I can't really say "thank you yelp" because daaaang being sugared isn't the most pleasant experience. Supposedly, it's supposed to be less painful than being waxed, but I disagree :/ Well, Suzanne did mention that my skin may be more sensitive since I was pregnant at the time. Considering that I have a high tolerance for pain, I still found it a bit painful at times. Now that I'm not pregnant anymore, I think I would give it another try. Suzanne was pretty awesome and easy to get along with. She was also pretty quick which I liked :D To be honest, I'm not extremely experienced in getting waxed and sugared so I can't fully attest to the fact that the hairs took longer to grow back after the sugared wax. But, it was still a cool experience and I would do it again. read more

ive been fairly blind to the world of girlie pampering and professional grooming. sure, i have enough sense to not hack my own hair and know its worth the $20~ to have a skilled technician give me a french pedi instead of the ol' scotch tape method I was using. ...but in terms of hair removal, facials, and even having my brows done, it was all a first with Suzanne. i know, what rock have i lived under to have never have my brows professionally groomed or some hair ripped from my body?! and not surprisingly, my giddy excitement brought on quite the curiosity when i posted online: "i just got my brows sugared and they look amazing!! no more untamed russian caterpillar brows!!" i hadn't realized the term "sugared" was really the perplexing statement. i imagine a lot of people we picturing me smiling with glistening sugar crystals lining my brows...channeling my inner Cher. trust me i needed to be educated myself on the practice of sugaring hair removal prior to my recent adventures. look it up yourself if you are clueless...because it is definitely worth considering if you have never had hair removal or do traditional waxing and dont really enjoy (i know, who *enjoys* it...but rather, finds it hard to endure). basically, sugaring is a all natural mixture creating a thick glob of honey-like material that is spread on and rips the hairs out in the direction the hair grows, rather than against the hair as waxing does. i cant compare but it is supposed to be less painful, easier on your skin, and given you can reuse it over and over a much quicker process. also important to know whether it's authentic or not...the mixture should be 100% natural ingredients, and applied a certain way. all is true here. im pretty much in love with it. so far ive had my upper lip, brows, and underarms all done. im told the underarms are one of the more painful removals due to the super thick established hairs, and i didnt find it to be all that bad! Suzanne is a great conversationalist and easily keeps your mind off of it with keeping her clients engaged and talking (Esp. important for doing Brazilians, the most popular service). It's pretty much like, once you go sugaring its hard to go back to the ol' raser. no hair under my arms for 2-3 week!! my fear with waxing was always dealing with in-grown hairs and that has been pretty non-existent here. everything ive had done i felt confident i would end up looking my very best - like seriously, she made my brows look amazing. a skilled professional right here. i also appreciated that during my facial she was very in-tune with how it was reacting to me. again, i was pretty new to it and thought maybe a little burning was normal. the second i mentioned it, she paused and asked exactly how i was feeling on a scale to 10 and tried to remedy the bad reaction. once we realized it was only getting worst she removed everything, gave me a lotion to help it sooth, and checked in with me the next day. im sad the facial didn't work out, but the care she put into our session was really impressive. so perhaps facials wont be a regular pampering for me :) but the hair removal has been a great experience - im so glad i discovered this!! 3 cheers for kicking that oblivious rock off of me :) read more

This is long overdue. I've been seeing the lovely Suzanne at Asucar for months now for sugaring and she has done a phenomenal job. Sorry if it's TMI but she makes a brazilian about as painless as possible. If you check-in she sometimes offers a discount as well. She is always positive and is really easy-going...and the last thing you need when someone's sugaring you "down there" is for that person to be in any kind of bad mood. She finds a way to distract me, makes me feel comfortable, and works fast. I couldn't ask for better service. Rates are super reasonable and she's great at getting back to you for appointments. If you wax - TRY SUGARING!!!! Less ingrowns (if any), no ripping or tearing of the skin, just as fast (if not faster), and MUCH LESS IRRITATION. I have very sensitive skin and I see MUCH better results with sugaring. Also, if you do happen to have any ingrowns, she offers a clay mask for that area as well. I've tried it and it helped get rid of the irritation and ingrowns that I had as a result of waxing. If you have questions, feel free to message me :). read more

For my upcoming vacation that may well involve a trip to a spa and/or pool, I decided to treat myself to a sugaring since I read that it's far less damaging to the skin than wax. And where do I start!? Scheduling my appointment a week ago was a breeze because I read here on Yelp that you can just text her. She responded really quickly and confirmed again this morning. Suzanne met me up front at the Jean Claude Salon, and once we were back in her room, it was basically 20 minutes in and out and on my way for a standard bikini. It was definitely not pain-free, but it was definitely tolerable and my skin is not freaking out! Smooth as silk, man! I'd recommend her services to anybody. read more

Amazing. Totally shed my fear of waxing! So, Suzanne is Asucar & her intimate room is located upstairs from a hair salon in Banker's Hill. I was terrified to get sugaring done, as my past waxing experience was horrendous! Suzanne put me at ease, let me know that my hair doesn't have to be as long as it has to be with waxing (thank God) said she would go slow & only charge me half if I felt it was too painful for me & needed to stop (how awesome is that?) My skin is very sensitive & she did a great job of reassuring me that sugaring is much better for the skin. It's still painful, but did not do the damage to my skin that waxing did. She even gave me the yelp deal, even though I hadn't purchased it online. She was great at listening to my concerns, put my mind at ease & was super friendly. You can even text her if you're running late for an appointment! I'll definitely be back & recommend anyone who is on the fence about waxing, to come directly to her! read more

Oh where do I start!! I LOVE Suzanne! She is an expert and perfectionist in her field but also personable and sweet. This was my first experience with sugaring and I have never been back to standard waxing in a year! Text requesting appointments has made scheduling a breeze and she is always able to squeeze me in within the week I call/text. I've even switched to using her PCA product line and haven't been happier with my skin EVER. My pores have shrunk and I hardly have an issue with blackheads anymore. Even my breakouts have been very few and far between. I have my underarms "sugared" now too and its made maintenance in between appointments easily managable. Thank you Suzanne! You are great!! read more

Suzanne is simply the best! Check her out, you will be so happy you did! I cannot say enough good things about Suzanne! I have known her professionally for years and Suzanne is by far the best person to go to for skin and sugaring needs. She is professional, funny, laid back, and informative about the process during your session. Over the time I have seen Suzanne, she has educated me about my unique skin issues and I have noticed huge progress in my skin and hair quality. I'm picky about what I use on my skin and I love the PCA products she uses. She has a wealth of information and stays current with her industry and lets me know how I can care for my skin between our sessions. The at home routine has worked wonderfully for my sensitive skin and has followed up to check in on how my skin was responding to the products. I know I'm in good hands with Suzanne. She is skilled in her trade and cares about her work, is positive, pleasant and she knows how to keep the mood light and relaxing when you need to unwind. She is good about keeping your appointments on track, always confirms your appt before hand, quick to respond and I leave my appts feeling recharged and taken care of. Go see Suzanne! read more

WOW! I'm so glad I came across Suzanne. I've been wanting to do Sugaring for awhile and because of my impatience, I actually went to Beauty by Dolly because Suzanne wasnt available on the day I wanted it done. Well it turns out they only do Sugar Waxing/Gel - which is basically just like regular waxing. I ended up with a bunch of broken hairs, some burns from the threading, much more pain than expected and was whisked in and out in a hurry. Today I went to Suzanne to get my abs done - and she really took care of me! She did Sugar Pasting, where they pull with the grain of the hair. She took her time and you could tell a HUGE difference between the great work she did and the so-so job I got at Dolly's. As soon as my hair grows back on chest/back (i'm a dude), i'm definitely going back to Suzanne. If you have any questions about what its like to get your hair removed as a guy, hit me up and i'll share more of my experience with you. Thanks again Suzanne! read more

There is waxing, then there is sugaring, and then there is Suzanne. I've been to several places in San Diego for sugaring and Suzanne has provided the best experience to date. Obviously getting a brazilian is not anyone's idea of a good time; however Suzanne made sure my experience was comfortable and easy. She was very thorough (tackling strays with tweezers and cleaning up left over sugar with a hot towel), quick, and gentle (I didn't experience any irritation afterwards). Suzanne will be my go-to person for sugaring. read more

Suzanne is awesome! Very personable and bubbly. Usually waxing can be a painful experience, but Suzanne knows what she is doing in every sense. In and out quickly and every visit, the pain lessens. She quickly responses of you have any question about appointments. Best 60 dollars I spent. Probably go back for some of her facial treatments :) If you need a great waxing/sugaring experience, Suzanne is the go to person for that job. read more

So, I have been going to Suzanne for about two years now and she is simply the best. I will not go to anyone else! I was on a long trip recently and made the mistake of letting someone else do my eyebrows.... It was atrocious. You don't know how good you have it until I didn't have Suzanne... Now I wait until I return home and can see her. She is also very accommodating with her schedule and will get you in (since sometimes those things come out of nowhere ;))! I have my face, brows, and Brazilians done... now I can't do without. I must admit, I was a bit nervous, especially about the Brazilian and the whole sugaring concept but she is the epitome of professionalism and skill!! Another thing, she is extremely conscientious about cleanliness which is so incredibly important, sanitizing, changing gloves, etc. The attention to detail is incredible, I really do feel a million times better after seeing Suzanne. I highly recommend!!! So much better than traditional waxing. read more

This review is wayyyy overdue (Like 2 years overdue), but I cannot say enough fabulous things about Suzanne! I've gone to her for sugaring (Way less painful than waxing) and facials/peels for 2+ years now. Suzanne is super knowledgable, responsive, gentle, down-to-earth and hilarious...like I want to be friends and go to happy hour everyday with you hilarious...which are all super important when you're naked from the waist down (Mind you, I really don't have the money for excess beauty expenses or happy hour for that matter at the moment after recently buying a condo, but I've budgeted out other things so I can still afford her extremely reasonable prices - that is how much I freaking like Suzanne!)! I've referred all my friends here and they adore her as well. Trust me, you won't be disappointed and walk away more beautiful and hairless than ever :) Thanks Suzanne! read more

I've tried out sugaring in Austin, Dallas, Houston, DC and San Diego. Suzanne is by far the best.

I visited Asucar for sugaring with my sister a couple years ago and have been going regularly ever since! The little bit of pain is worth not having to shave. I have never had any ingrowns or skin irritation. I have very sensitive skin and discussed skin care treatments during a sugaring appointment, Suzanne is the only esthetician I've felt comfortable enough with to get facials. My skin looks amazing and she's taught me a lot about my skin and turned me on to tons of skin care products that I love. I am definitely a lifetime customer. read more

Amazing!! Best results ever! She made it very comfortable for me, will Definetly be going back!

Suzanne was amazing. I went in to get my first Brazilian wax ever! It was kind of scary but she made sure I knew exactly what to expect and made me feel comfortable. It didn't hurt as badly as I thought it would and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. She gave me after care instructions and asked if I wanted to reschedule right then or wait on it, never pushy. I loved the experience, minus the minimal pain involved, so I rescheduled on the spot. I think I'll stick with Brazilian Waxes with her. The place is located at Jean Claude Salon/Spa, but more around the corner to her studio that's attached. They also have a small garage in the back so you don't have to pay for parking, but it's small. I would highly recommend Suzanne, she's passionate about what she does, and goes through exactly what to expect. I love that she uses Sugar wax because the hair can be shorter than with other waxes. Prices are great and with the first time deal it makes it that much better. Simply put, she is amazing! read more

I absolutely love Suzanne. She is the best I have ever been to and I can't even explain how awesome sugaring is. I have been to other sugaring places before but never felt like they were doing a thorough job. Suzanne is so meticulous and does a very efficient job. Suzanne is so sweet and easy to talk to. read more

I love Suzanne. She is so sweet and accommodating. I immediately felt comfortable with her and she's so quick! I will definitely be back!

I love Asucar! I've had great experiences here. The staff at Genesis is friendly when I book my appointments, and Suzanne is professional and easy to get along with - answering my questions & making me feel comfortable. The decor is relaxing - not stuffy. I get my nose, arms, chest and abs sugared. I've tried a few other places & Suzanne is my favorite. Overall, I'm a very satisfied client and highly recommend Asucar. read more

Suzanne is awesome! Totally puts u at ease and makes an awkward experience actually enjoyable! Very thorough too. Thank u! I will definitely book again. :) read more

Suzanne is lovely to chat with while your no no zone is getting taken care of. Most importantly she is fast and skillful. Her space is clean and so relaxing. Make your meow meow glad and try it out! read more

I love asucar body sugaring! I've been a huge waxing fan for years, but I could never find someone who could wax my arms without tearing the skin and causing breakouts. Im a server at the beach and people see my arms all the time and waxing the hair and leaving red marks and bumps was unacceptable. Since I had tried everything else under the sun, I decided to give sugaring a try. Now I'm permanently hooked! There is a lot less pain, no tearing of my skin, and no breakouts! The hair also grew back a lot slower! If you are looking for a guaranteed way to have your hair removed without removing your skin, this is definately the way to go! read more

I will start off by saying WOW! I've been so scared to get waxed and after reading about sugaring I finally talked myself into it. Suzanne was amazing! She made me feel so comfortable. Talked to me the whole time to keep me from thinking about the whole thing. I'm actually looking forward to going back to her. I will talk my friends who are scared of getting waxed to go to her. She is just great! read more

Great experience, highly recommend Asucar Body Sugaring !

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED I recently moved to San Diego for work. Knowing no one and not being familiar with the area, I referred to Yelp in search of sugaring services. Having been sugared before I can tell you this from my experience with Suzanne: Typically, brazillians are not known for being the most pleasant experience, but I can honestly say this was by far the best I've ever had. Never before has sugaring been so painless. Even after I left, I never experienced sensitivity. Suzanne does such a thorough job, and does so quickly. Not to mention she is so personable. Best sugaring I've ever had and best customer service. Suzanne or bust. You need not go anywhere else. read more

How can I describe it, Suzanne is beyond amazing!!! Very professional, and best of all her technique is painless. I have been to others and can honestly now say, "I will not go with anyone else!!" I am not one to recommend, but I am very impress by her care and service!! read more

Ok, overall I had a fabulous experience. I was able to make an appt super easily though text, which was nice. Suzanne was very sweet, professional and she chatted a lot which was nice and distracting. I have never had a wax done so I can't compare the sugaring but it was less painful than I anticipated (although some spots were pretty bad)! She made me feel very comfortable even while laying spread eagle on the table! I had great results and would definitely go back! I highly recommend Asucar, I don't think I will ever go anywhere else! read more

AMAZING!, I will keep coming back. Let Suzanne work her magic on you. I am now breakout free after getting some facials from her. There is no set routine with her it's all tailored to your skin, as she knows your skin better than you do! These reviews don't lie! Suzanne is absolutely amazing. She was kind, explained everything to me and so easy to talk to. I highly recommend her for all your sugaring needs. read more

Suzanne is the bomb. I waxed for a long time until moving to San Diego and meeting Suzanne who showed me the light. Sugaring is the way to go. I have sensitive skin and while waxing has left me with issues on my most delicate skin, sugaring has never irritated it or aggravated old burns or anything. Suzanne is the best in San Diego. She's knowledgeable and talented and will give you the best service and customized experience. Other places say they sugar, but it's not really the right technique. Go to Asucar- you won't be disappointed. read more

If you haven't been sugared yet you are missing out! I had my first sugar about 6 years ago and it was a life changer. Suzanne is the best! I had so many estheticians wax ( not sugar) me before and I always had bumps. By the time the bumps went away it was time for it again. When I got my first sugar from Suzanne I was expecting the same and nope it didn't have any bumps and the pain is much less. Suzanne is fast, efficient, and very knowledgeable. She is always on time, professional, and responds quickly to her texts. Stop waisting your time on wax and get sugared. read more

Suzanne is AMAZING!!! She fit me in as a first time client which I truly appreciate. I had never been "sugar waxed" before .. I've always gone to the pretty kitty were the use the strips. Well Buh Bye Pretty Kitty ... You've been replaced. This didn't hurt nearly as bad as strip waxing. I'd say it hurt 50% less and Suzanne makes it enjoyable with fun conversation. The Place is clean and comfortable. Can't say enough good things... Definitely worth the $$$ read more

Really great experience. Suzanne is professional and was done with my bikini wax in no time. Highly recommend trying sugaring if you aren't happy with the bumps and redness from regular waxing. read more

Suzanne is the best! I have tried many popular waxing places around town, and one from a groupon (yikes) but since going to Suzanne, I will not go anywhere else. She is very professional, easy to talk to, and fast! I love that sugaring is an all natural approach to hair removal, and as a germaphobe, I appreciate that it is more hygienic than wax. I plan on returning to Suzanne more regularly, and maybe even try one of her skin treatments next time, since she is also very knowledgeable about skincare. read more

Simply the best. Sugar is terrific way of getting those pesky hairs off...does not hurt and NO INGROWN HAIRS.

There is no where else I'd go. She's that good. Yes, sugaring is the way to go--no contest. But it's Suzanne's efficiency, technique, and temperament that is really the service you are getting. No matter where you are sugaring, it's a sensitive, painstaking, & at times, awkward task. I mean, come on. You have to be comfortable with whomever you are allowing to extract hair from your body by which ever means necessary. Like your homegirl who's really tough on you, gives it to you straight no bs, but solidly has your back? It may hurt a little but it needs to be done, it's for your own good, and your are better/less-hairy for it. And her personality and proficiency keeps it from being a dreaded task for me. Nothing like those places that are just looking to churn and burn through clients. She has the ability to be professional without being clinical or elementary which makes me feel at ease, makes it go faster, and makes it easier to come back for more... Every 6-8 weeks. read more

This was my first sugaring experience & let me tell you, it felt amazing! So far this is my 2nd day and no crazy redness or inflammation like I usually get with regular waxing. Suzanne was such a down to earth and sweet gal! I didn't feel embarrassed or judged whatsoever, & she is extremely knowledgeable with skin conditions. I suffer from Psoriasis, so I was really nervous and shy about my skin but...my skin has never felt better than after our session was done! Definitely would recommend and will most definitely be back here to see Suzanne! Very happy with the results and pleased with her service. read more

I loved it!!! Suzanne is awesome!! Sugaring didnt hurt me one bit. My skin was not irritated like with waxing. Defenetly going again!
