Restaurante La Plage - Gazpacho - not authentic, but still delicious!

A surprisingly good restaurant for such a touristy location!…read more We stopped there because it was one of the best-looking spots near the popular Carcavelos beach, about mid-afternoon. Given how touristy the location is, we didn't have the greatest expectation, but we were pleasantly surprised. First of all, the service was impeccable. While not native speakers, when it came to food and service servers could speak and understand a great English and were very helpful when it came to helping out with the choice of drinks and food. The passionfruit sangria is the signature of the location and came in absolutely ginormous glasses, when ordered on a by-glass fashion (while still being reasonably priced). Not only was it refreshing, it was also surprisingly delicious for such a spot. For starters, we both went with gazpacho soup. While not authentic, it felt right for the weather and how we felt. Once again, it was extremely tasty and looked great! For the main dish, I took a whole-roasted fish (sea bass I believe) and once again, I was amazing. It was tender, it was well-seasoned, it was fresh, it was delicious and it came with a great seasoned olive sauce and baking potatoes. A really great example of the amazing seafood one can find in Portugal! My partner however was not as lucky. The crevettes skewer was lackluster and lacked any sauce or seasoning, while the crevettes were overcooked and rolled in flour prior to cooking, giving them a specific and not a very pleasant texture. Now, the desert - I went with a chocolate mousse - kept the whole trend of the culinary excellence going and was both chocolaty and delicious to the maximum. Overall, a great location, and if you are in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Got a sumptuous grilled sea bream fish, a hefty and tasty comfort food spaghetti bolognese, and a refreshing passion fruit sangria. Plus a soft and creamy flan desert. Highly recommended. Nowhere in California can you find a beachfront dining experience like this at an affordable price.

I'd give the staff 6 stars all were so professional friendly and proud. Everyone wore ties and sport coats some English . . The 4 appetizers that were brought out for us to sample was a meal itself, it's truly an amazing restaurant. The girls ordered sirloin tip stroganoff w mushrooms and rice. The stroganoff was brought in bowls and prepared as you watched on to your dinner plate. The servings were enormous, girls didn't finish even half. We let our waiter pick out our red wine it was perfect. We ordered baked cod that was cooked inside a loaf of freshly baked bread with roasted potatoes and spinach it was amazing entree. 10 different fresh deserts we're presented to us in a rolling glass cart, it was a tough choice. All were exceptional All aspects of this fine restaurant were 5 plus stars. If you ever visit the Parede coastline area check out Restaurante Toscano

The restaurant partially overlooks the ocean if you book the right tables. It's been decades since I have last dined here, back then I wasn't a big fan - I found it to be too expensive for what I consider to be average food. On my most recent visit last week, we went because everything else was closed, and I am glad we did since it was a very pleasant experience. For our little family gathering of three, we ordered Bacalhau a Bras (salted Cod, eggs, and fries mixed) and the grilled Grouper. All of the dishes were quite good, the Grouper was fresh and the Bacalhau dish was well put together. Overall, the dinner was quite good, but the desserts were outstanding. We had the Serica (a regional egg-based sweet from Alentejo) an Almond cake and another egg-based Portuguese sweet. While the dining experience was good what made it memorable was the service which was truly outstanding. Unfortunately, this level of service is increasingly hard to find these days.
