Where do I begin? Since the Summer 2024, I started experiencing some issues with my electrical…read moreservice like flickering lights, A/Cs not working, appliances didn't work properly, my WiFi would constantly reset, my washer and dryer didn't run so I had to get old school and go to the local Laundromat, which was not ideal. It was an absolute nightmare for my family of six. With a house built in the 1920s, I figured it was a matter of time before the electrical infrastructure needed some love. My first step was to call Con Ed and report the issue. For those of you with any experience with Con Ed, there are two things that usually occur: 1) there will be an auto-response that says "ConEd Alert: Your smart meter tells us that power is on at [your address]. If you still have power issues, contact your property manager or a licensed electrician after checking your circuit breakers. For more info, visit conEd.com/HomeRepairs." The problem with step 1 is that it does NOT account for outside issues like phase imbalances, issues with the transformer, or outside wiring leading to the meter, which is the responsibility of your electrical service provider. So before spending $$$ for a licensed electrician to come to my house and tell me the issue is with Con Ed, I hoped Con Ed would send their team out to investigate the issue but it never happened. 2) Over thirteen service tickets later, I moved to step 2 and reached out to a few electricians who came to investigate the issue and some said it was a problem in the house (eg old wiring that needs to be replaced) and the other half said it was ConEd. As you can imagine, I was covering the cost of these varying opinions and felt like I was getting nowhere. Fast forward to late Fall, the weather's getting colder and I'm worried about getting enough heat because the boiler has electrical components as well. So I lookup licensed electricians near me, and DOLA Electrical pops up, with 40+ years serving my neighborhood. I was confident that they would be familiar with the types of houses built in the 1920s - 50s, with above ground electrical service. I connected with their office and worked with Crystal, who was always pleasant, professional, and compassionate about the issues I was facing. She scheduled a preliminary visit with one of their electricians and he tested every circuit in the electrical panel and the wiring outside. A few days later, they sent another member of their team, Fausto, to conduct a full inspection of the house. Before he started, he wanted to triple check the outside connectors. A few moments later, Lou, the owner of DOLA Electrical shows up and they're looking at the outside together. About an hour passes and they tell me the connector (splice), where the wire from the pole to my house meet, needs to be replaced. They do what they need to do and seal everything up properly. We all come back in my house and they tell me to turn EVERYTHING ON... lights, toaster, boiler, tv, microwave, coffee maker, washer, dryer...you name it, it was on. To my surprise, everything was working and not even a flicker of a light fixture. The whole experience was emotional and costly before I reached out to DOLA. I recommend them, without hesitation, to any of my neighbors or fellow yelpers in need of true experts in electrical work. True professionals through and through! I will say that you get what you pay for with DOLA, and although you may find cheaper prices out there, this company will never compromise the integrity of their work. Thanks to Lou and his entire team for getting us back to normal. I'll definitely be working with them in the future.
