We were the only people in the place at 9:40 AM which should be an obvious red flag. The crispy bacon was fatty and swimming in bacon grease, the potatoes tasted off, the poached eggs very nice, my sunny up had a good skin on them, obviously under the warmer while eggs were poached. The toast almost crumbled when bitten into. Peanut butter and jam were asked for, and delivered. The peanut butter was fine, but the jam was so runny it wouldn't stick to the knife. I ate the eggs and the toast and left everything else as did K. I can't express how bad it was. Our waitress was out setting tables in the attached tent while people waited to be sat. One gentleman actually sat himself, I mentioned he may want to go elsewhere. Hated to do that, but........ We spoke to our server and she was very apologetic, and it looked like the apology was a common refrain. We will for sure stay at the hotel again, but will not set foot in that restaurant again, I'd rather go hungry.

I regretted ordering food pretty immediately, as I watched the staff prepare orders while I waited. In the unreasonably long time it took for a hot dog, fries, and hamburger to be made, I witnessed two embarrassing altercations between staff members, and saw a staff recovering from a nose bleed with a tissue in one nostril (and still behind the counter?!). The fries and microwaved hot dog were fine, but the hamburger was inedible. My friend described it as the worst burger she has ever had. We honestly weren't sure if it was beef. This place is clearly a tourist trap. Unfortunately, we didn't have Internet at the time to be able to check Yelp. Maybe the ice cream is okay (we didn't try it), but stay away.

My last visit in Dairy Queen (Parksville) I brought this to the attention of the employee and she didn't care, she said that "This franchise charges for it." I put in a complaint to Dairy Queens head office. They responded briefly that they received the complaint. Then a bit later the manager of Dairy Queen called me. She never offered to refund the money I felt I was over charged on, instead just said "Next time you come in, make sure I help you and I will make sure your order is done right." I make the allegation that Dairy Queen is engaging in false and misleading advertising to the public on their promotion of the chicken strips meal, that Dairy Queen is engaging in fraudulent misrepresentation as well. Ya an extra buck (or almost) isn't much for one person, but how many other customers have over paid on their meal? What if they do it to 300 people a week? Do the math. I will not be returning to this location ever again. I felt the way the manager handled it was not proper either. I feel corporate should have looked into it in more detail as well, not just pass it onto the manager. The least the manager could have done is offer to refund me the extra money I paid on the gravy. I will now take my money elsewhere. I will never return.
