This is a really cool immersive art experience. We went on a clear, cold night that made it enjoyable without all the rain! About 45 mins walk through the garden. The path takes you through art installations. The show at each installation is about 3-4 mins. The surround sound effects were fantastic. There's a hot chocolate and cider shop at the end of the walk. Nothing to write home about. I recommend getting the $12 parking ticket as an add-on when booking tickets online. Will save you some $.

I've been telling everyone about this experience because it stood out from everything else we did while in Seattle. This is a beautiful large scale light and sound art installation happening in the botanical gardens in several locations in the United States but not everywhere so please go if you can. I'll post a few pictures but this is most definitely an event to be experienced in person. The way the sound, light and fog work together create an ethereal environment that makes you feel like you've stepped into another beautiful and peaceful dimension. Please don't hesitate to go if you can.

We went on a cold and clear night, which I am sure enhances the experience. You walk thru a dimly lit path and get to these fancy light and music scenes. It was an easy walk but it is on gravel and mobility impared folks might find it challenging. Overall, we enjoyed the experience. They have a cider and chocolate stand at the end with some gift shop options but it wasn't over the top. The surround sound was well done and it was a nice evening. Tip: buy the parking thru the app and save $. It was $18 day of and $12 thru the app. You can also park in the n'hood and walk up.

What looks like wonder and magic.

Okay, wow!!! Here is my 0.02. This is part of a cool company that goes into cities and into botanical gardens that don't get a lot of business this time of year. They set up a display (this one was about stars) and encourage folks to come out into the gardens in the winter at night to appreciate the garden in a different way and state. You can marvel at the night garden (I did), you can marvel at the people choosing what to marvel at, and you can marvel at the main event which in this case was a celebration of stars. For example. This is an Asian garden. Please look at how they back lit this incredible feature in a way that would not be appreciable by day. My hats are off to this marvelous traveling circus that moves around the west coast highlighting what is already there in a time of year when it is less valued.

This experience is definitely magical and wonderful! I had so much fun walking through the amazing installments and seeing all the cool shows. I will say, it's quite crowded. They try to pace people out, but there are a lot of crowds and it's easy to trip over little ones in the dark. Doesn't ruin the show, but fast walkers beware. The cost is really high for what it is. If you look at reels on instagram, you can see exactly what the experience is like and decide if it's worth it. They do have less expensive time slots, so I'd recommend those. The parking is also super expensive. We street parked and walked and I would definitely recommend this. The bathrooms are pretty nasty so definitely use the restroom before you go. Overall it was magical, but expensive and room for improvement.

We were super excited to go because of the awesome pictures/ advertisements Ticket price are very pricey- Adults $41 Children (4-12) $31 Seniors $65 Group bundle $33 per person (8 people minimum) Parking $12 And note there is ADDITIONAL booking and convenience fee (for reference, my parking ticket ended up being $14.70 after the fees) We debated to go or not but during thanksgiving/ Black Friday they had a 20% off sale discount so with the group bundle pricing was about $25.88 per adult! To be honest if it was full price $41 per person it would not be worth it at all. The super cool picture/ display you see in the advertisements, that's all there is. *parking* We purchased parking ahead of time online thankfully, it was about $12. The location of this event is at the Seattle Chinese Garden, they have a huge parking lot but they closed off the entrance and you will need to show your parking ticket barcode to get in. We went on Friday night the 7:30 time slot and the street parking (was all filled with cars!) *not stroller friendly* It's a lot of up and downhills but most importantly the pathway is gravel, some areas smaller and some area with bigger gravel which made even pushing our stroller without a kid impossible *waiver* There is a waiver to be filled before you can enter the event They let in a group in at a time so it's almost a tour feeling where you follow people in front of you to go so it's like a huddle of people at a time making it hard to take pictures without people in front or behind you. I really had to angled or wait for people in my crowd to go on to the next attraction and I quickly go back to snap a quick photo without all the heads blocking the view... The experience was nice, some do their lights was breath taking and I like that you walk along the path in anticipation of what is next but at the same there there wasn't **that much** to see to be worth $41 a person i feel. But to be fair I had a 3 & 7 year old and a stroller with me so this event might be maybe more enjoyable with only adults...?

Booked tix for this as soon as I received a notification email from Fever - they did a pretty good job with the Harry Potter Magic at Play experience in Bellevue, so I figured this event would be just as good. I also liked the idea of a holiday-not-so-holiday activity to do in December and it was absolutely the right idea. Wear good walking shoes, expect to watch the ground as you walk to each "destination"'on the map course because not only is it gravel, but there are little boulders lining the pathways and these pathways can suddenly twist and turn so you're walking straight into a wall of 5 boulders. This is why they make you sign a Hold harmless type of waiver before you can go in. (Also, the light shows, although they do not flash like crazy, could potentially trigger seizures. Note that it did NOT trigger them for the person with us who does get seizures often, but everyone is different) It is a really pretty, serene walk through the garden with piped in nature sounds. It was a great way to take a step back during this rush of a holiday season (9 days until Christmas already??). Drinks were priced too high for Mocktails IMO. $8 would have been plenty as it seemed like we paid $30 for 3 cups of juice with garnish...both drinks were missing something to elevate to "mocktail" status but I also understand they make their $ with the merch and food/drink. Overall a really good 2 hours spent, and we did get some great photo ops.

Such a cool experience over all. The best pics you can get I think are definitely at the first installation. I would recommend going early as we had a 6pm time slot and it didn't feel crowded at all but as we were leaving there was a long line of cars waiting to get in!

This was a wonderful evening and experience!! Magical! Highly recommended. We went on a weeknight so there were less crowds. The weather, though chilly was clear so we lucked out. Each area, on it's own is an adventure. This might be a challenge if you are mobility impaired. I have back issues. I found the experience easy to walk. There were some slight hills which were difficult but there are benches to sit and rest if needed throughout the experience. Which allowed more time to enjoy the lights, music and sounds of the experience.

The newly renovated Dakota Place Park Building in West Seattle is a great new venue run by the City of Seatte which can accommodate up to 200 people. The building retains some of the old brick architecture, but has lots of modern amenities such as a full A/V system with video projector and built in sound system, a catering kitchen with icemaker, and comfortable tables and chairs. They have a great setup with tables that roll into place and then lock. We only set up tables for 50 and left 1/3 of the room for people to stand and mill about looking at memorabilia. They have an AV system that we used to show a video of the birthday boy's life. The AV on the east wall didn't work, but the AV on the north wall did. They have screens for both. The venue is open every Saturday morning to go and look and plan for your event. We recommend using that time in the weeks leading up to the event. We rented the building from 1-6 and our event was 2-5. That left very little time to get all the tables and chairs set up, catering to arrive, set up the AV, etc. If you plan well, as we did, you can do it, but we had to develop a good plan on the Saturday morning strategy sessions. Also, be sure to test your video a few times on the Saturday mornings. That's how we found out, on the day of the event, that the HDMI doesn't work on the east wall. Some thoughts: bring your own hangers if guests will be arriving with coats, they only have about 10, but they do have a nice portable coat rack. We put signs on the steps off Dakota directing people to use the west entrance, which is handicapped accessible. It worked well to only use one door. Parking is problematic, as there are only about 3 spots, but no one complained. The Parks Department staff are very helpful, but they're not AV experts, and we didn't expect them to be. You have to figure out the video system mostly on your own. We chose not to use the wireless microphone (provided) because we were sure everyone could hear us. However, once we got 100 people in there absorbing sound and making noise, we wish we had. All in all, it was super. Hopefully they get the HDMI fixed on the east wall. We had to change our seating plan at the last minute once we found out it was not working (the video played, but kept pausing inexplicably). (Oh, and you have to call and bug them after 10 days to get your deposit back...they don't seem to have any sort of system in place to process the refund, but after a couple of calls we got ours back no problem). Great venue. Great staff. Plan Ahead!

The location is definitely the main draw--you're steps from the beach, with a few outdoor chairs and an enclosed patio area where you can sit and take in the activity around you. The brewery itself has a laid-back, slightly worn-in feel. It's a bit rundown in places, but that seems pretty fitting for the casual, beach-adjacent vibe and doesn't take away from the overall experience if you're expecting something polished or upscale. It can get quite noisy, especially given the corner location and steady foot traffic from tourists and beachgoers. The atmosphere is lively, sometimes bordering on chaotic, but that's part of the tradeoff for being in such a busy, scenic area. Overall, it's a solid stop if you're already in the Alki area and want a casual beer in a very "beach town" style setting--just go in expecting energy, crowds, and a no-frills environment

Turns out, the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center building used to be the old elementary school I attended from 1965-69 called Frank B. Cooper School and located about eight blocks from where I was raised. The meeting was held in one of my old classrooms that had an old piano which if memory serves, I played for my 5th grade teacher. A few other memories I recalled were things like watching a solar eclipse, playing Silent Night in a Christmas show on an auto-harp, my first crushes and the mouthwatering smell of food wafting through the school from the kitchen located near the auditorium. I remember one of the classrooms had a coat closet and when you entered it, there was another door and beyond that, a stairway that led up to the attic where all the duct-work and storage was. A great place to get lost for a bit. Long story short, the last time I was in that building was in 1969 and it is fitting that in a building where the original function was to introduce values, knowledge and the basic skills to successfully interact with American society and culture, I would end up in a networking meeting for entrepreneurs. Talk about full circle! That being said, it was also really cool to combine 3-D visuals with my childhood memories of the place. +1 to the other distinguished Yelpers who reviewed this place and for myself, I left there believing that YCAC is a worthwhile organization for not only renting out my old classrooms, auditorium, or gymnasium, but more importantly, for the education, artistic support, and future of Seattle's teens and potentially, its future entrepreneurs and leaders. Check out their website and if you can, visit the facility when you are in the area because it can certainly use some positive support to keep it going.
