Astoria Vintage Hardware

Super cute store. I didn't get anything but there were some vintage things I would have loved to purchase for home if we had a spot to put a light above our dining room table. Definitely worth a look If looking for anything.

If you're into vintage hardware, this is the crown jewel! You'll find all types of pieces. There is literally a whole wall full of vintage doors. It's kind of pricey, but not super crazy. There's not a lot of smalls here if you're antiquing, but that's not their specialty. Be sure to check out the huge WORKING Operation game! And squish penny collectors will be excited to find a squish penny machine!

Truly vintage hardware, artfully arranged. Many old doors and repurposed items. It would have been nice to see antique pulls and knobs instead of retro. Wish it had a wider variety of farm fresh finds. Everything was polished and priced accordingly. The reason I'm giving this three stars is mainly due to the unfriendliness of the worker (owner?). She acted put out when we asked a question and it was hard to get her attention. I don't believe we ever saw her smile.

Note New address: 1162 Marine Dr. Astoria. Look for the Red Door. Vintage galore and great prices. Lamps, clothing, shutters, door hardware and even a play yard merry-go-round!! Very vintage!

I've been in this store several times to browse and they have some very nice items, but they are very expensive!

A delicate opal and garnet ring for my granddaughter, and amazing sapphire ring for my other granddaughter, earrings for both and even a large diamond for myself. The prices are amazing - I have taken every piece to my local jeweler who has said - "next time buy me something." His appraisals are much higher than the price I have paid for any of the beautiful pieces of jewelry from Jonathon's. Charlie and his granddaughter are delightful to work with. I always hate to give such a glowing review - last time most of his latest merchandise was gone before I even got there! The ring below is my design using the 1 + carat diamond I purchased at Jonathon's - saw the amazing sparkle from the doorway! Such a deal!

The gal working was very friendly and showed me a few options, seemed to know what they had on hand and offered me exactly what I was looking for. Asked Charlie for a price and offered me a deal on something I was on the fence about price wise as I had spent a bit on the trip already. I gladly accepted. I have been wearing this ring since I got it about two weeks ago. Its gorgeous. Will be back next time we are in town.

The other afternoon, my mate and I had the day to kill and the Sunny weather inspired a nice walk about Astoria. It was fun stopping in to some of the little shops that we have only seen from behind closed and locked doors or from the road as we drive by en route to other pressing matters. Many of the places that we strolled into, gave us the sad, but usual coastal customer service treatment of ignoring / half-assed enthusiasm / or annoyance that we dare disturb their lack of working. I am proud to report that none of those places made a penny from us just on principal. Posey-Reed was a totally different story indeed. The wonderful lady that owns the shop was friendly, talkative, personable, intelligent, and really enjoys her business. We spent almost an hour in there just chatting and though we didn't "need" anything at all, we were sure to make a few purchases to be good neighbours and reward a business that cares. She obviously isn't going to retire on our $50 dollar contribution, but at least we know it is going to a good place. Nice and deceptively large selection of collectables, antiques, decor, furniture, vintage clothing, and art work. Many toys, books, and even sheet music await you, ALL at modest prices. She will bargain with you on some of the items as well. For those of you into vintage clothing, I highly recommend checking out her selection that is very well organized, eclectic, and at decent prices. I still had sticker shock from another vintage clothing place in town, but Posey-Reed restored my faith in quality and pricing. Do the community a favour and give some business locally. Posey-Reed is operated the way a business should be....with kindness and amazing customer service. Be sure to tell her that the Irish Cop / Pastor in the cool shirt sent you in.

I am SHOOK to read these other reviews! I absolutely adored my visit to Garbo's…read more OK, yes this place is overstuffed and chaotic. But there are some TREASURES hidden amongst the chaos, and I had a blast digging through. I also found the store owner to be a delight. The whole thing had a "playing in your very cool grandma's attic" vibe and I am HERE! FOR! IT! I was with a friend and he surprised me by purchasing a jacket from this store that I in love with but couldn't really afford. Now I'm living my Brokeback Fringe Fantasy, and it's all think to Garbo's. Yeah the prices seemed kinda high, but when somebody else is buying that's basically the same as free, right??? I could have spent hours here, giggling with my friend while playing dress up. I'd probably end up broke, but that's fashion, baby.

I wouldn't shop here unless you want racist remarks made to you. Stopped in here over the weekend…read moreand asked the old hag working how much an aviation themed reusable tote was. Mind you this was the kind of reusable tote you'd get from the grocery store. When she told me "16", I responded in a bit of disbelief "16 dollars?" bc who would pay that for a reusable tote, and she responded to me "well it's not 16 pesos". I am very noticeably Hispanic. That was very unnecessary of her. I hope her stupid shop goes out of business.
