Like that right there feels weird!! The broker also mentioned not to call my bank to get my money back either.. It was mentioned, If i qualify it will be used as a down payment towards the fees.. but still. I personally wasn't comfortable with giving $1k for an "application". Like i have never heard of this.. especially this day in age. if it looks like a scam, feels like a scam... ITS A SCAM!

And this site telling me that the response time is around 20 mins is absurd. Youre 20 mins late 3.5 weeks ago. Website - epitome of laziness and lack of professionalism. We made the appointment for 4:15pm at 11am this morning. In less than 5 hours to view the apartment, it increased $100 dollars. I thought it may have been an error. No word from Spito Maravegias. After viewing the apartment, I ask for an application. Spiro Maravegias response was "this is the thing" and gave a huff as Spiro Maravegias asked "what is your credit score" as if he premeditated a disappointment. I was ten points below. Spiro Maravegias asked did we spoke about it, "No we did not" was my reply. Nor was it in the description. Spiro Maravegias gave a sad voice and said "well sorry". I dismissed myself by saying have a good day feeling utterly insane for coming. Totally fine. But he didn't bother to say; he would get back in touch if there are other opportunities, if anything comes up, sole guarantee or whatever its called. etc. Why would you invite someone to the viewing without that information. ( Secondly, did you raise the asking price LAST MINUTE, that was beyond strange). Photos for proof below that it was changed in a matter of an hour or so. Better communication and create a better approach when you assume something is up not to your standards.

If that were true, they would sue her for giving out Milinium business cards with her picture on it. But they don't because only a broker can hold a real estate license, not an agent. If you're a landlord, please consider going elsewhere. If you are a Tennant, don't be fooled and also check the average rent in your local area first. They also set up a "Millennium real estate two" sight to deflect all the bad reviews they are getting, to get a higher star rating, so be advised!

She showed me a couple places I wasn't wild about but then we walked to the other end of the neighborhood to check out one that wasn't on the market yet due to renovations. After showing me one apartment that I didn't love, I felt like she pressured me to like it more -- telling me how perfect the landlords were, how I wouldn't find anything else like it, harping on features that ultimately didn't matter to me. It was incredibly awkward, and I found myself repeating that it's simply a matter of preference. It turned out that this was one of two apartments she had available at the time; the other was in a completely different location than where I had wanted. After this, she told me that I had started my search for an apartment too late, and that most apartments for the following month were already rented by now. As someone that was needing to find an apartment during the busy summer season, this was a stressful thing to hear. I ended up quickly finding an apartment with the next broker I met with. More importantly, though, were the vast number of apartments that became available throughout the week and the month. (Of course it wasn't too late to find a place on the 3rd, how could I have believed this?) While I don't like writing negative reviews of people in the neighborhood, I'm posting this in hopes that anyone with a similar experience will take it with a grain of salt. There are so many apartments in Astoria and in NYC overall. Don't let anyone rush your search. An apartment is a personal and important decision. And most importantly: your options are not constrained, regardless of what you're told.

The person I spoke with was super professional, straight speaking but kind, and took her time with me. Her advice however was really discouraging and quite absolute - I was so depressed after getting off the phone with her- she suggested that I might look for a room for him to rent somewhere because with a budget of $2,000 and low credit on his part; that no one would really want to work with that profile or mine as an out of state guarantor. Merely 12 days later, he is now set up with a lovely studio in a nice building, one block from the train in Sunnyside for $2,100. The moral of this story is as "professional" as the professionals may be, consult more than one. Some are more open, more nuanced, more willing to find solutions and more apt to think creatively than others. Find the individual realtor and the real estate firm that best fits your outlook.
