***2026*** DO NOT WORK WITH ANY REALTOR AT VORO…read more Good evening, I reached out to Patricia Brady on Zillow about a 2BR listing in College Point, NY for $2,400. I had a viewing with her and another gentleman on AUG 4th. She informed that if I were interested in the rental, a security deposit of $2,400 was needed to remove the apt from Zillow. The deposit was sent same day, the listing was taken down. She requested my paystubs, bank statements. I sent everything via email the same day. A couple days go by, she lets me know that the "landlord" has requested my credit report via fax because he's on vacation in Greece. Not a problem, however, 2 weeks go by and shes still stating that he hasn't received it and he's not very responsive. I give it another week or 2, still no real update. I finally decided to cancel my application and request an immediate refund of my deposit. A few days go by of me writing her for my refund and she tells me she's going to add the "landlord" to an email to request the refund. I am a military member under a lot of stress and had to threaten to involve my command to get a response from this "landlord" of options for my refund. I chose to have the check from the "landlord" be sent to Patricia to then deposit and Zelle back to me electronically. It is now SEPT 8th and the "landlord" has emailed me that the check was sent to Patricia. Her excuse for all this is that the deposit his held in an escrow account when she collects deposits. It is technically a good-faith deposit but a MAJOR red flag and considered scammy. After sending texts for updates, I finally get an update from Patricia on SEPT 16 that the check was deposited on SEPT 14th & takes 2-3 business days to clear. I've deposited checks larger than that and had a portion cleared the same day and next day the full amount is available. I sent a text for an update again on SEPT 21st and no response until SEPT 23rd only after I informed her I had to go to my local precinct to file a police report. Patricia immediately called me to explain that she was working with her bank to try to send the full amount since the limit was only $500 at the time. If you do a little digging on her on the internet, you see that she does this A LOT, down to the same $500 increments for deposits returns. (Not sure if some kind of money laundering allegedly). I've texted her every other day since SEPT 23rd for my payments and have finally received the last of the $2,400 TODAY, OCT 01! Side Bar: I have all email/call/text communication to prove everything above. The company and Patricia can probably see this and don't care but this has severely damaged my trust in realtors. I will NEVER put down a deposit without signing a contract or keys in my hand ever again. I've also reported the fraud to Zillow, NYS Division of Consumer Protection & NYS Division of Licensing. I've been able to get a meeting with Ahmed Tagini, Commissioner at NYC Department of Buildings. I insist on scheduling another one to report this realtor and VORO. DO NOT USE VORO OR ANY REALTOR ASSOCIATED WITH THEM!

The person I spoke with was super professional, straight speaking but kind, and took her time with me. Her advice however was really discouraging and quite absolute - I was so depressed after getting off the phone with her- she suggested that I might look for a room for him to rent somewhere because with a budget of $2,000 and low credit on his part; that no one would really want to work with that profile or mine as an out of state guarantor. Merely 12 days later, he is now set up with a lovely studio in a nice building, one block from the train in Sunnyside for $2,100. I decided to be patient and thought maybe the person just needed a few moments to collect themselves and get it together. We all have those days and sometimes we just need some fresh air or a cup of coffee to really get back in the "professional zone". So I was really giving this person the benefit of the doubt, and didn't voice my concerns out of common courtesy. It was so hard when my original review was going to be 3/4 stars prior to all the hiccups i experienced, but I decided it was best to be honest with my experience and go with a 1 star rating/review. It wouldn't be fair to me, and it wouldn't be fair to any future potential prospects to go through a similar experience. To be clear about my experiences, the agent i was working with came off extremely unprofessional and even after providing the additional time and my stance on exactly what i was looking for, the person still failed to deliver. I am not sure if someone like this could ever be saved because it is apparent this person has been operating like this for some time now (over a decade), and we all know people seldom ever change. I don't think the bad habits this agent exhibits will ever change. At the end of the day, i was just in shock the person wanted 50% of the security deposit (their commission) for work that was barely performed. I understand the agent's primary client is the owner/developer who owns the empty unit that has to be filled. I totally get that, and that makes me a secondary client, but i am paying you tons of money (50% of the security deposit) to do something so basic as being a tour guide, i expect nothing but a stellar performance. In addition, with what i am paying out of pocket, i expect the agent to treat me as a competing primary client. The person failed to deliver on something so basic. It is similar to an Amazon employee delivering groceries and messing that up. How basic can it be to take grocery items from location A and drop it off at location B? Anyone with a junior high school diploma can do it. No one is asking anyone for their college thesis, or to write a dissertation, or to find a cure for cancer. Just asking for someone to be a simple tour guide and get 50% commission off of something so simple. I would have so much respect for the agent if they were upfront and said: Look, I don't want to do any work but I want 50% commission. I want to do the least amount of work humanly possible. I totally get it. I understand brutal honesty and respect that. It is appreciated, but it didn't even get that far. The picture the agent posted on Yelp that has the caption: THE SKYS THE LIMIT truly kills me. Clearly, the agent's customer service skills didn't have the same outlook because it was the furthest thing from reaching the sky. It was just below F grade level customer service. Just disappointing to see someone screw up on the basics, and i won't be utilizing their services again. The agent must be closing tons of sales in this pandemic and cashing in on 25K plus a month for me to receive unprofessional treatment. A word of advice: PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
