This is my third visit to this business, all for an annual skin cancer screening with Dr Kerwin. I have seen the numerous negative reviews on this business and have seen none of the issues mentioned in them. My wait time has always been short where the receptionist and staff have been very professional and courteous. Dr Kerwin though is the shining star of this business where he is always very friendly, upbeat and has a very nice casual and approachable attitude which I greatly appreciated. I barely know the man but we have had such friendly discussions where we trade grand parenting experiences/notes where the general discussion always puts you at ease and relaxed as he does his thing. Relative to his service, he does a very thorough job when doing the skin cancer screenings and advises you of the findings and if there is anything to be concerned with. The last time I was in I asked him to remove a mole near my eye, where he told me that it was not cancerous and was personal choice if I wanted to pursue where he would gladly do it. In an age where people try to talk you into unnecessary procedures just so they can run the insurance tab up, speaks volumes for his integrity and was greatly appreciated by me. Overall, I have been very satisfied with the service I have received here and Dr Kerwin in particular, where I will continue to give them my business in the future. read more

I have been treating with Dr. Dorman for more than 20 years. He and his staff are always professional. I have never waited to get in for more than 20 minutes. I am very surprised to read some of the reviews here, but what I am reading from some has not been my experience. I highly recommend Dr. Dorman. read more

Absolutely disgusted with this "practice" and there entire team of Doctors, PA's and receptionist. We trusted them with our 4 year old daughter to take care of a common skin condition amongst children. There recommendation was applying a "medicated ointment" to the effected area that will clear up the itchy bumps, we washed off the ointment 45 mins after as directed. We were not informed what this "ointment" actually was or about the serious dangers of it. We were told that there is a potential of minor blistering but in most cases that doesn't happen. My 4 year old daughter has golf ball size blisters covering her entire bottom and thighs that are now erupting. She screamed in agony the entire night unable to sleep because of the pain the blisters are causing her. As soon as we seen how big the blisters were getting we called 911 and had an ambulance come to our house as we had no way of safely getting her to a hospital she can only lay on her stomach. The paramedics were shocked when they seen the severity of the blisters but unfortunately said there was nothing we could do but try and keep her as comfortable as possible. Me and my spouse stayed up all night with her holding her hand while she screamed in pain. The feeling of not being able to help my little girl is a feeling I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Upon further research of this ointment Cantharidin I learned that it is actually a toxin that is taken from a blister beetle. From 1964- 2023 this drug was not approved by the FDA. For what ever reason Dr Ronald Kerwin thought it was a good idea to use this beetle toxin on my 4 year old daughter to cure some small itchy bumps that research shows these bumps would go away naturally within 12 months. It is 2025 and this doctor thinks this ancient form of medicine is the best option for a 4 year old. Instead of a couple itchy bumps we now have my daughter in agony with massive blisters and open wounds with serious risk of infection. My daughter is now unable to get up, she is stuck laying on her stomach and has to be carried on her stomach to use the bathroom. What this place did to my daughter is inhumane! To top everything off when my spouse called to speak with the doctor she was laughed at by the receptionist for her demanding to speak with a doctor. Stay far away from this place! Update Day 2 It is currently 3:00 am. My daughter is screaming in pain from what this place has done to her. Dr. Ronald Kerwin deserves to have his licenses revoked for what he has done to my daughter. I will go to the end of the earth to make sure he and this place pays for what they have done. While Dr Kerwin is enjoying his time in Florida my daughter is suffering an I can do nothing to help her except hold her hand while she makes herself sick from crying so hard. I have been a patient of the Commerce and West Bloomfield offices of Associated Dermatologists for over 15 years - primarily with Dr. Cetner in Commerce and occasionally with Dr. Merkle in West Bloomfield. I always liked Dr. Cetner's work and waiting 15 minutes to 45 minutes to see him was okay with me. However, last week I decided that I need to leave this practice permanently as it has become an absolute shit show. In the past there was a phone number which a human being answered and scheduled appointments. Now, evidently because they sold to a larger dermatology conglomerate, there are no human beings doing anything related to scheduling. I scheduled a 15 minute botox appointment with Dr. Merkle (online of course) because Dr. Cetner was 8 weeks out (online) and then my good friend's father died and I needed to reschedule to attend the funeral. There is no way to reschedule or change an appointment online so I called the bogus phone number provided (6 separate times hoping for a successful result) and it rang about 10 times for each call until I landed in a loop that resulted in nothing. So I gave up trying to cancel and made another appointment (online), came in 10 minutes before the appointed time, was greeted by dour, underpaid young unprofessional women with no authority (who deal with disgruntled patients all day long), waited an hour, was seen to a room and told it was going to be another wait - most likely at least another hour. The young woman that showed me to the room told me that patients are now physically going to the offices to get appointments because the online experience is too frustrating - great advice if you have time to drive 45 minutes each way just to schedule an appointment. A 2 hour wait was the last straw - I left the building and the practice. Oh yeah - and by the way they now have an automated payment requirement that automatically bills your credit card - good luck reaching a human being if you have a billing question or problem. This used to be a great practice - now it's awful. Go somewhere else. Oh yeah and by the way, I'm the third person that I know leaving the practice for good. Maybe after reading this they may wake up - that is if anyone even cares enough these days. read more

Credit damaged due to a mis-mailed invoice. 20 year patient leaving. I offered to pay in office after my appointment but they didn't know the amount so I waited for the invoice. It didn't arrive. Honestly this is not the first time it's taken billing months to process an invoice for me so I wasn't concerned. Instead tho, a collection agency bill came just a few months after my visit. I called Associated Derm(AD) to resolve the bill ( $80 charge) as well as correct my address. AD told me the charge was no longer their issue nor was it Ever their obligation to call and check if my adress was accurate in their system when I hadn't responded to the invoice. They stated they didn't know anything about the collection company or it's processes. I thought this must be a joke that a medical office would give my personal information to a place they knew nothing. I asked if there had been an admin mistake because I've always paid in a timely manner. Instead I was told that the doctor had approved all patients sent to collections. meanwhile the collection just posted to my credit report and I can't remove it!!!!! My family and I have been loyal patients for 20 years- paying all our bills and referring regularly. However, I will be leaving this practice. Don't go to a business that has no idea who they outsource to or exercises immediate short term gains over patient goodwill. read more

After being a loyal patient for over 22 years I'm done! Since they sold the practice things aren't the same. Their receptionists are just plain awful; I've lived out of state for years and make it a point to still only come here for derm needs. I flew in and had something appear on my skin and begged them to see me within the few days I was in town and they didn't seem to care and told me mid May was the earliest (it's April 29th). They said if the doctors that accept my insurance no one is available and told me to go to urgent care if it's serious. So now I will need to go to urgent care because getting a new patient appointment with a new derm takes time. After 22+ years they could have squeezed me in instead I'll never go back to any of their providers again. Find a new place don't waste your time here!!!!! read more

5/2021- 1st apt w Dr. Suzanne R Merkle. Arrived early to fill out ppwork. After waiting 1 hour, a man came in wondering where his wife was? She had been in a room, waiting since 10:30am, it was now 12p. I asked front desk what MY wait time wld be and was told this Dr. usually run 1-1.5hrs late. Sat in waiting room for 45 mins after arriving 15 mins early per instructions to fill out paperwork. After 45mins talked to clerk about my wait and they stated there was still one ahead of me. I have been coming to this practice for over 20 years. I have seen all of the doctors and PA's and have to say, I love them all. Now, my husband and even all of my teenage kids see dr Lenny kerwin and Maria sometimes weekly and are always treated with kindness, respect, and just good medical practices. Even the front desk and MA's are kind and caring and always greet us with a smile. I wasn't too happy here and I felt as though it was a waste of money. I went for the first time around the end of summer 2021 and went to one of the owners of the practice. I was prescribed topical products for my acne - they truly did help and I noticed a difference at first so I will give them that, but after months of using the products I still had concerns about my face and thought I needed something more/different. I expressed these concerns a couple of times - at my 3 month and 6 month follow up appointment (both costing about $100 each for a 10 minute visit). After expressing these concerns I was told that the products take some time to work. At the 6 month point if I'm still not seeing the results that I want, I don't think much will change. The response was disappointing and dismissive, and I decided that it's not worth it to spend the money- I've seen better results doing my own research and creating my own skincare routine. read more

Hi all, after visiting the this location twice I was surprised at the current rating. I have seen Dr. Dorman twice now and have had exceptionally good experiences both with the staff and the Doctor. My wait both times was only about 5 to 10 minutes each time. The first time was a mole check and it was thorough but quick. The second was to remove something...whatever it was... from my wrist (which Dr. Dorman encouraged me to do on the first visit but I chose, in my infinite wisdom, to live with it for 8 more months - bad decision.). He talked to me while he did the excision to keep me distracted, he did what he said he was going to do and I was out the door. Now, the four stars are for two reasons completely outside of the visit. First, the bill came from a Doctor I didn't know and didn't reference Dr. Dorman so I didn't pay at first because I thought it was just a scam. Second, when I went to use the online scheduling for my most recent visit I did the submission but never got scheduled. I would recommend just calling, the online form isn't effective. So, yeah be aware of the bill that may not come from the Doctor you saw or "Associated Dermatologists" and call versus email - but care is solid. read more

I originally posted this under Dr. Michael Dorman's profile, but realized that wasn't really fair. My interaction with Dr. Dorman was short and not unpleasant, for a minor issue that didn't warrant a prolonged interaction. Based on our two minute conversation, he's a 3.5...a little dismissive, but that's okay. I mean, my tiny little mole has now turned into a flat pink scar on my arm 3 times the original size of the mole, but the removal wasn't even done by him (maybe his assistant?), and I can live with a tiny scar. That's not even why I'm writing this review. OH MY GOODNESS, that front-of-house staff. I wrote off their curtness and abbreviated responses to a busy office while on the phone with them, but when I arrived at the office and experienced the same treatment, I realized it wasn't an isolated incident. My PCP didn't provide me with the right referral sheet, but it took 20 minutes of frustrated (from them AND me) back-and-forth and several calls to my PCP to get it worked out. I still didn't get it worked out when I left the office, and I received no calls from their office to let me know they've received the paperwork they need. I hounded them, and they finally told me they received it. Lo and behold, I then had to deal with my insurance company for their full charges. It has since been resolved, but with absolutely no thanks to them. Smile a little, front-of-house staff. Be a little human. Stop sucking the joy out of people's days. read more

So disappointed! My family has come to this office for years. We have had some issues--ie long wait time, witnessed contention between drs and assistants. However, overall have been very happy with Dr Kerwin. My daughter just turned 18 and went to a visit on her own. Dr Kerwin asked if she wanted him to pop a pimple. She said yes. It appeared on our bill as acne surgery with a $110 charge. I called and they said that is the correct code. To me, whether insurance "allows" that is irrelevant. The fact that they did not make that clear to her before popping the pimple and the fact that they submit to insurance as surgery ---to me is very slimy! We will not be returning. read more

My only issue with this clinic was Dr Dorman he came in the room and checked my husband out for less then 5mins talked really fast to the nurse about what to prescribe, the nurse was very confused about his orders and didn't bother to confirm with him what he meant and what they prescribed did not work. Dr. Merkle is my favorite doc in this office, but they're all good. You'll wait longer for Dr. Merkle than the other docs, but she's worth the wait. Dr.Merkle takes her time to be thorough. She's excellent with all skin issues from acne to wrinkles. Highly Recommend. read more

Punctuality is a foreign word to this clinic. Of the maybe 40 times that I have had appointments here, the majority of them I have been seen at least 45-60 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Even when I have made morning appointments at the hour this clinic opens, I still have not found a way to be out of this place in a reasonable amount of time. The front desk staff consistently provides vague answers to any questions about appointment times. Additionally, this office has gone through several management changes to which several of my appointments have been rescheduled at the last minute to my unavailability. The only reason I give any stars to this clinic at all is because the staff has been extremely helpful and attentive once I have seen them. I have tried multiple times to give this clinic the benefit of the doubt, but each time that they have assured change, it has not been seen. After 5 years, it is very frustrating to see that no problems have been solved. read more

Please DON'T go to Dr. KERWIN RONALD DAVID. I would like to start by saying that this is the first time in my life I have ever bothered reviewing a place because the place and the doctor left me with an awful experience. I don't want to focus on the receptionists and the other people of the place because the main issue for me was the doctor. Dr. Kerwin Ronald David is one of the worst doctors I have ever experienced. As a patient, I went in with a vulnerable issue. But he hardly bothered listening to me, told me I don't really have an issue and if I do it's the result of genetics and offered no solution. None at all. On top of that he was condescending and 10 mins into the checkup (after I waited 45 mins) looked at his watch and said he has to go while I still had questions. Maybe I caught him on a bad day or maybe his poor treatment was because the appointment was at a late afternoon on a Friday and he wanted to go home. Either way, I think doctors are in a position of power and to handle that with such poor care was disheartening. The least a doctor can do is a believe a patient and try to offer help and of there is truly no solution then at least empathize and not make a joke of the patient's concern. read more

I don't think Doctors know what their staff is up to! in mid-January 2019 I called their main number to make "new patient" appointment in Novi. Monotone voice rushed me trough usual questions on personal info, while I was asking my questions about Doc's experiences and specializations. Seemingly, lady on the other side wasn't capable nor interested on responding and decided to hang up. I re-dialed, after a while different person answered, but same attitude. I told her that one of her co-workers just hung up on me, abruptly she replied .."so what , do you want me to connect you to manager!?". -Yes, please!- I said and after prolong silence I was connected to non-identified answering machine. I went in to see Dr Merkle because she was highly recommended by several people to get a re-do from another Doctor. I have had a sore on my nose that was, as I found out pre-cancer, that did not heal and that was from Oct. The first Doctor supposedly cut it out, which hurt like hell!!! But didn't get all of it and it took 2 - 3 weeks for it to heal. However Dr Merkle did the exact same procedure and less than a week later it is healed and no more bleeding! She is worth the wait in the office!! She did an amazing job!!!! read more

Absolutely the worst service I have experienced in my life. I'm a new patient and waited an hour in the lobby before getting called back. I was then placed in an exam room for another 45 minutes before even getting spoken to. I do not understand how a business can be so clueless as to how to properly schedule appointments so your patients aren't waiting for 2 hours past their scheduled appointment. Be aware! They will send your bill to a collection agency without notifying you, and ruin your credit history! Workers are not trained properly for HIPPA law, and might send your medical record to a third party without your permission! Our whole family has been going there for over 10 years. We were so disappointed how the billing office manager Stacie handled my complains. We have been paying bills on time, but somehow our bill was switched to paperless billing, and because when I went to the office and asked if there is any bill to pay, I was told none, I was thinking we were okay. All the sudden I received a call from a collection agency, and I was in shock! Somehow one of my twin sons bill from February 2021 was not paid, I never knew that it wasn't paid because I asked the front desk person if there was anything need to be paid. I called to complain why they never sent me a bill or called me before sending the bill to a collection agency. Stacie was so rude, and she told me I ignored the paperless bill. I had no clue we were on paperless billing! Because she was so rude and stressed out that the paperless billing was a legal bill, and I had to pay to the collection agency, I addressed the concern about HIPPA violation by an office worker. She told me to show her the physical evidence, and she kept on saying "I don't know you, and I trust my worker than you." We gave her the name of the worker who violated the HIPPA law, who sent my son's patient information to a third parson without our permission, but she said that she wasn't going to do anything unless we present her a physical evidence. Ten minutes later, My son gets a call from the worker with the third party! Stacie called the worker, and the worker got fired (or resigned) right away! Stacie lied right in my face! She said she wasn't going to talk to the worker unless I presented physical evidence. And a week later, we got a termination letter from the office! We were the victim of the HIPPA violation, and the bill sent to the collection agency and our perfect credit score ruined for only $114!!!!!!!!!!! I paid the $114 to the collection agency on the same day I talked to Stacie. We never got any apologies from the office. Stacie can't do her job, she forgot to enclose the form for us to sign to transfer the record to our new doctor. All I wanted was a simple phone call or a letter before sending our record to a collection agency, and proper HIPPA and data security training for the workers! Just because you had the worker signed a paper does not mean anything. I went through HAPPA and data security training myself, and I would never disclose any information about by clients. Please take your job seriously. Because of Stacie, we are changing the doctor. Worst experience ever. We never got a call from a collection agency or any medical worker sending our information to a third party. You will never know how your data is being handled in this office. Spooky. read more

The entire experience of going to this place was so pleasant. They were very accommodating with my wacky schedule and fit me right in! I didn't have to wait three weeks to be seen as a new patient. I didnt have to sit and wait forever for my appointment either! In and out in under an hour. The staff from the receptionists to the medical assistants were all friendly and polite. Dr. Kerwin (older) made my appointment less painful with a pleasant personality and made me laugh the whole time. He was also extremely fast while making sure to get to know me as a patient as well. I have been a patient of Dr. Ronald Kerwin since childhood and now see either Dr. Ronald Kerwin or Dr. Leonard Kerwin. Both are phenomenal! Recently, Dr. Leonard Kerwin and his staff squeezed me into their schedule, even when they were booked. They offere to have me seen at either their West Bloomfield, Novi, or Farmington Hills office, making sure the appointment comported with my work schedule. My wait time was minimal. The office staff was completely professional and courteous. Dr. Kerwin took the time not only to answer my questions, but also to give me a crash course on the possible diagnosis, the procedure performed, and the prognosis, making sure that I understood what was happening and what I could expect moving forward. On top of all this, the procedure performed was successful and resulted in very minimal scarring. He was like a magician. They called my prescription into my pharmacy making sure that the prescription was being filled before I left their office. Walking out the desk staff let me know to call if I had any issue with the billing or my insurance company, which I didn't. If you have any issues with your skin, I would highly suggest Dr. Kerwin. read more

Extremely unorganized. I checked in with the desk before leaving and they accused me of not paying my bill. I had not received one so I paid before I left. 1 month later I recieve another bill. I called to pay the remainder of the bill and they dont believe that I paid the first half. I tried to pay 5 times by calling the office and resolving the issue. They then tell me I need to pay the full amount or send my credit card statement showing payment. Not only are they extrememly unorganized and unproffesional the patient rooms are not clean. Tools are left on counters, walls and floors are dirty. I didnt want my toddler sitting on the table or walking around. Not to mention she could easily reach into the biohazard can sitting on the floor or reach the counter with the tools sitting out. read more

Very dissapointed. Family has been seeing this practice for years and they seem to really be dropping the ball. Sequence of Events: 1. Pregnant wife with growing mole on neck calls to make an appointment with doctor Merkel. Soonest appointment without referral is nearly 2 months away. 2. Wife gets specific referral requested . Makes appointment soonest apt 2 weeks away. 3. Pregnant wife takes the afternoon off work to be told Dr. Merkel is running "70 minutes" behind , and that she routinely runs this behind. 4. Pregnant Wife then told her referral isn't good enough. Needs to be sent directly in and not written. hmmmmmm would of been nice to know this originally. You know 2 weeks ago when the appointment and referral was made . Or before someone takes the afternoon off work. Or would of been nice to honor the appointment DUE TO YOUR MISTAKE. NOPE, instead turn a 7 month pregnant woman with a growing spot on her neck away because the referral YOUR employee specifically requested wasn't "good enough." Joke. read more

I had a allergic reaction to incorrect medication given to me by other Dr. I took a chance and went to see Dr. Dorman. He gave me medication which only make it worse, corrected that problem. Somehow we got into the conversation regarding Obama-Care which he thought I was on, NO I am on medicare which the above company advertise's. He stated due to insurance regulations he could not go any further. So I spend money for nothing and I still have the same problem. Dr. Leonard Cetner is the best!! He is sweet and very knowledgeable. He always remembers small details about our visits and I only go once a year. His staff, however, could use improvement. I have rarely had a positive experience when speaking with a woman on staff. The person in charge of the billing department was horrible to deal with on the phone, very nasty. read more

So I've been coming to Dr Kerwin and his PA, Maria, for over a year. Dr Kerwin's bedside manners were horrible, but he was able to help me with my acne and at the time the office location was convenient. I did go back for a mole removal and my apt was made with Maria. Maria was kind enough and my removals went well but everything seems so rushed in this office. Even for as nice as Maria seemed she rushed with me. I was in and out and even had blood dripping down my back and ruined my jeans because she was so rushed and didnt take enough time. That's not the worst part - it's their back office staff, office manager and medical assistants. They are are all very rude and just miserable people. The medical assistants complain every time they would take me back about their hours, the doctors, other office staff. I found this highly unusual that they were so open about how upset they were. The reception staff are the worst. They can barely crack a smile when you walk in and make it seem like it's a bother when you ask questions. The worst is their office manager - she is the queen of meanness and rudeness. I had a balance from my mole removal surgery that my insurance didn't pick up. The office originally agreed to allow me to make payments because of the size of the balance. The straw that broke the camels back was when I went in for a recheck and was told, mind you in front of the entire office, that I was not allowed back for my visit unless I paid the full balance up front. I was caught off guard. Mind you I had already paid about half of what was owed and more than they had even agreed to in my payments. I let them know that I certainly could have made arrangements if I had known prior to my visit but you guys agreed to allow me to make payments so I'm confused. The office manager stated that they now needed the full balance paid or they had to cancel my apt. I offered to pay half and come back later with the rest. This was not acceptable to the manager - I even had the agreement in writing from them for my payments. I paid my balance and will never return. The way the manager handled the situation and how they went back on their agreement - non the less in front of the entire office - is not ok. No one should be treated in this manner. The reality is, I should have left sooner but again the location was just convent at the time. Your health is the first priority, be sure to go to a doctor who feels the same and his/her staff treats you with respect. read more
