Over the years, IBM Credit Union changed names. It is now Think Bank. I still have my bank accounts with Think Bank. The transition was seamless. My home branch is still in Rochester. Last month, when I was in town, I needed to withdraw some money from my account. I was staying in Eagan, so it made sense to visit this branch. It's next door to the CVS where I used to do my rapid COVID-19 tests at the drive-thru before I flew home when it was mandatory that you were COVID-free. I didn't go inside the branch. I simply needed an ATM, so I hit the drive-thru. With all Think Bank branches, the first few lanes from the left are with for folks who require a teller to help with their transactions. If you need the ATM, it's typically in the far right lane. It was the case here. I pulled up to the machine, inserted my bank card, and proceeded to use the ATM to withdraw money. It was straightforward and easy. The downside was that if you wanted to make a cash deposit, you couldn't. There weren't any envelopes unless you had a spare one in your car. This ATM wasn't as advanced as some here in Canada where it takes cash as a deposit without an envelope. It wasn't all that busy at the branch. I was the only one at the drive-thru. There weren't a ton of cars parked in front of the branch. It was nice visiting this branch. I had a good ATM experience. I have visited most branches in the Twin Cities. The one in Apple Valley still needs a visit. I may have a new goal now to visit all locations. There are a few in Rochester that I've never visited, either. (360)

Thing is, this branch also has to call the regular customer line and wait and ...wait ...and ...wait like we all normally do when we call from home. Fortunately that's rare. Locally however, they are always friendly and willing to do what they can to answer a question when warranted.

I love this bank! They have an awesome checking account called "WooHoo". It earns me close to 2%…read moreinterest, which these days is pretty good, so I put all our $$ into that. Plus, this account reimburses me for ATM fees that other banks charge me when I travel. Can you believe that! Every month the bank PAYS ME! Last month they paid me about $20 in interest for the month, plus about $22 to refund me that other banks charged me in ATM fees. Compare this to the big banks. Then there's the customer service which is OUTSTANDING!!! They know me. When I stop into the bank, they say, "Hey John how's it going? How are the kids?" They don't even bother to ask for my I.D., they know me. When I call the bank to deal with something, I get a live person who is helpful and local. They don't have a massive call center in some other part of the world. Really I can't say enough how much I love my bank.

This review is for the Highland Bank in Minnetonka on Plymouth Road…read more So, let me just start by agreeing with one of the reoccurring points in many of the other reviews for Highland Bank's various locations (and this one too): They're a little behind the times. From a technology standpoint and as a consequence, from a banking standpoint in general. But in reality, this bank's product offering isn't much different than any other bank. There's free checking (with a minimum balance, direct deposit, or whatever), they have online banking, they have an app. I'm fairly certain that all of their online offerings are understandably 3rd-party systems that they likely just lease. But it's all there and it all works reasonably well. ATM access is comparable to most credit unions (though, they're not a credit union) as they use the same type of network that most of the smaller CUs use. They have very traditional operating hours. (the lobby is closed by 5:00 PM weekdays and not open on weekends) But the drive-up is open for a few hours on Saturday. But guess what? It's all part of what makes this a charming bank. Why does that matter? To some people, it probably doesn't. Some people may not want to step foot in a bank. Some people want to do everything on an app. I'm not one of those people. When I walk into this location to make a deposit to one of my accounts, I'm always greeted warmly and by name, and am thanked when I leave. It's something you may not appreciate when you're a busy 20-something. It never really mattered much to me until recently. Maybe receiving good customer service is an acquired taste -- I'm not sure. But the folks at his location are absolutely top-notch and as long as they're there to provide the excellent service I've received, I'm not going anywhere else. I've not used the lending side of Highland Bank yet, but fully expect the service to be just as professional and friendly as the teller side. If you're not being treated very well at your current bank, please visit the Highland Bank location in Minnetonka and speak to Laura or Debbie about opening an account.

On September 15, 2015 I was told by Daniel Vishnevetsky, a mortgage consultant with Wells Fargo,…read morethat I qualified for a 5/1 ARM mortgage with a rate of 3.375%. I had signed a purchase agreement to purchase a property and had a closing date of September 29, 2015. On September 21, 2015 I was told that I didn't qualify for the 5/1 ARM and the mortgage was changed to a 4.750% 30 year fixed. I was forced to accept this loan due to the rapidly approaching closing date which did't allow me enough time to apply with another lender. Wells Fargo subsequently send me a letter asking for feedback on the loan process. In addition to my main concern regarding the bait and switch on the terms, there were a number of fairly minor but annoying communication problems with Daniel Vishnevetsky. Wells Fargo investigated and declined to change the account to the ARM I was offered. They did however in a letter dated February 3, 2016 and signed by Chase Van Zee send me a check for $500 "due to the incorrect documentation you received when the application started". They took the issue seriously enough that "we contacted the managers of the areas involved to that they can review the situation and take appropriate action". I inquired again about the issue and and received a letter dated April 1, 2016 and signed by Tyler Harris in which he writes "We truly regret the miscommunication that took place origination of your loan and the appropriate management staff has been notified of your concerns." I filed a complaint with the Minnesota Attorney General's office and received a letter in response from Wells Fargo dated July 13, 2016 and signed by Tyler Harris in which he writes "Our research indicates your mortgage consultant wasn't aware that you wouldn't have been eligible for the ARM loan at the 3.375% during the application process." The "incorrect documentation", "miscommunication", and the fact that their employee, "your mortgage consultant wasn't aware" or in my words didn't know his job is all on Wells Fargo.
