Worst company ever!!!! They seem fine on the outside but once you actually do business with them…read moreyou realize that they are not only super unprofessional but they're not educated whatsoever on the services they claim to provide. Speaking to the boss is pointless because he literally knows nothing about the field (his words exactly...) he's just an idiot with a money. (My opinion). I ended up getting a quote from a competitor and was waaaaaaay cheaper for the same exact thing. If you want bad customer service and bad work, this is the company for you. In fact... if you really want bad service, ask specifically for "mickey" and his team. I will never ever use this company again and I advise you not to either.

Response to our multi-dwelling buildings has only gotten worse. FPS was hired by our management company to monitor and maintain our fire sprinkler/fire suppression system and its equipment. After spending more than $30,000 in equipment replacements in the last year, they still cannot find the source of an ongoing problem and their after hours "emergency" monitoring is a joke, even when their system is malfunctioning and endangering lives. Residents have to call the fire department and other essential personnel to arrive on scene and mitigate the damage caused by this system as the 24-hour "emergency" staffing sounds like a college kid who has no idea what you are saying and sounds like you just woke them up when you call it as the fire suppression equipment floods the entire garage (true story). When a power surge from a storm in Atlanta damaged some of the electrical monitoring boxes in October of 2020, it took weeks for FPS (5 different techs sent out with 5 different answers) to respond and replace the boxes. Daily these boxes will set off an alarm, which should trigger the 24/7 fire monitoring company - also FPS - to call our management with a notification that they are seeing an alarm. The management company hasn't had a phone call from the fire monitoring service in over a YEAR and the box in one building beeps very loudly several times a day before frustrated residents silence it. The CEO and management and every technician working at FPS is aware that our issue is not resolved, yet they sent another bill for $2900 even after their tech told us that the equipment for that invoice wasn't needed and wasn't installed ("No need for you to spend money on items you don't need" was a direct quote). Then that tech changed his story a week later after his CEO snuck on our property without our knowledge or authorization and "checked some things" and claimed to have fixed the problem. Rather than call and explain the situation, the CEO had the tech call and change his story. The tech was right because it didn't fix the issue, but now we have $2900 in items we don't need. The problem goes on and the CEO and every "Customer Service Manager" at FPS is aware of our problem but refuse to answer our management company's emails or respond to their phone calls. Our next step will be litigation after termination. Do not hire this company. Fire Protection Services is being reported to the BBB for fraudulent practices and inflating invoices, as well as poor customer service. One star because while their techs have no idea what they are doing (there is one guy who seems to know - the one who suggested we not pay for items we didn't need), they at least show up on time. When they show up.

They offer a great package, competitive pricing, and top-notch customer service. Their system is so effective and thorough, that I feel like I live in Fort Knox, which is a great feeling for a woman who lives alone! Very straight-forward and easy system to use, and the company's responses to events are within seconds. Chuck, who has been with CPI for several years, is not only a terrific installer/technician who knows his job from top to bottom, but is always so happy to explain to the customer everything he's doing, and answer their questions and concerns thoroughly. He also ensures that his customers have all the security features that they want/need, prior to leaving their homes. He's also very intelligent and a lot of fun to be around. On the other hand, Michael S., who initially installed the CPI system in my current home, simply came in, did his work, and never really bothered to explain ANYTHING to me, unless I asked him a specific question. Even then, his response was very brief. And, thanks to Chuck, I just found out yesterday that, for 3 years, I was being charged for a security feature that Michael had neither offered me nor installed. So, in addition to highly recommending CPI Security Systems, I also highly recommend that you request Chuck to do your installation, etc., if available!

So far we are very happy with the system, main service, and their installer Chuck (who is awesome, to say the least!). When we did experience a few issues/concerns CPI responded quickly and made our concerns feel valid and made us feel important as a customer. We highly recommended CPI and Chuck (our installer) if you can get him.

Thanks, NorthStar, for making my decision that much easier to go with your competitor. UPDATE: So, does that mean you didn't bother reading my response to you (see screen shot of image I just uploaded from my reply immediately back to you). Again, you have proved my point. Maybe your reps are tied up bc they're in the phone trying to respond to all the negative customer service reviews, like mine. It took you *2 weeks* to respond and accuse me of "not responding" to you when I did so within hours. Nice. Second Update: I see Martha has retracted her comment to me on my review (hence what my first Update spoke to....now it doesn't make sense, but you get the picture of what happened). More proof this company doesn't "have it together." I strongly encourage those looking for a security system to look elsewhere, or at least do your research before committing to North Star. This company has given me the run-around and I'm not even a customer! There are many other companies that value your time and business more than North Star. I am a perfect example.

I'm writing this on a day that my neighborhood just went nuts because we had some door-to-door…read moresupposed alarm company sales people going around. I called NorthStar, my security company, to see if they'd ever heard of these guys and they told me that "reputable firms don't go door to door." That reminded me that I was overdue for writing them a review. My husband and I (well, my husband mostly), interviewed four or five firms before selecting this one. Their installers are also their sales guys. In other words, these are people who know their stuff. Nobody tried to sell us something we didn't need. The guy who came out - and followed us through some installation difficulties (way our house was built, not NorthStar's fault) - his name is Gary. He is friendly and SUPER knowledgeable. He explained things and then explained them again and gave my engineer-husband all the detail he wanted. But when I had a question and DIDN'T want the detail - he boiled it down for me. Their pricing was similar to other firms we talked with. Pay for the equipment and have lower monthly monitoring, or do a 3-yr contract with higher monthly monitoring and lower/no equipment costs. They give you several options to work with your budget. Bottom line is, they weren't significantly higher or lower than anybody else. We had our first "false alarm" the other day. Our nanny accidentally set off the alarm and while she was punching the code in downstairs, my husband was also punching it in on the keypad upstairs, which cancelled the whole thing. Kinda funny actually. The monitoring service called us WITHIN TWO MINUTES. I was glad to know they were on the ball just in case we need them for real some day. In the end, we went with this firm because they were the most knowledgeable, didn't have pushy sales people, so we felt confident we were getting the info we needed to make a good decision. Turned out to be a very good decision!
