Plastic folding chairs they use for seating are of the cheapest kind and extremely uncomfortable, especially if you are a bit on the plus side. Now about the candlelight performance, well, for $55-$65 ticket price, you get an hour of listening to a mediocre quartet playing popular classics and watching dilettante "ballet dancers" who made the performance feel more like a farce. I am adding an extra star here as a credit to the musicians who continued playing despite the loud rock music coming from the bar next door. Tchaikovsky doesn't really go well when mixed with Megadeth... Will I ever go to Candlelight concerts? Certainly not, it is a rip off and a parody of the real ballet.

Having an industrial loft atmosphere, this venue is right in the heart of downtown Toronto near the Entertainment district and hustle and bustle of King West. My partner and I had gotten engaged in 2019 where we had signed a contract with Second Floor Events after looking at many other venues in Aug 2019. Our wedding was supposed to happen in Oct 2020, but due to the pandemic, we were forced to postpone where we officially held our wedding reception at Second Floor events in Oct 2021. From the very first meeting with Nicole, the Events Producer, to tour the venue, to meeting our Event Coordinator, Cindy, we knew we were in great hands. When COVID hit, we had decided to postpone our Oct 2020 date to Oct 2021, something Second Floor Events was very accommodating with. We were able to choose a new date to our liking with no extra added costs. Due to pandemic restrictions, it was tough knowing when to start planning for our Oct 2021 as my partner and I eagerly waited to hear more news from the provincial government. Finally, as the pandemic restrictions slowly lifted, we reached out to our event coordinator, Cindy, about 2.5 months before our event was supposed to take place. With a short timeline to pull the whole event together, Cindy was responsive and answered all our questions during the planning process right to the day of the wedding. We were also surprised when we had the tasting how good the food tasted (which was very important!); we were also able to customize/change any aspects of the dishes we tried to our liking and tastes. During the wedding day, Cindy as well as the Second Floor Events staff was able to make sure things were more or less on schedule. Although we had a few hiccups, many guests raved about the food and what a great time they had. The beautiful venue itself added to the atmosphere of the entire night. As stressful as the planning was, we were glad and appreciative of the staff at Second Floor Events and wouldn't have imagined celebrating with our family and friends any other way. Overall, beautiful venue in the heart of downtown Toronto, great tasting food, and great staff to work with and coordinate your next event. Could not have asked for more! The vibe is rustic and hip with a clean, modern flair. Staff were all super friendly, helpful and professional. Special thanks to Zoe & Clea :) I was able to sample some of the hors d'oeuvres and they were super yummy and unique. Not sure if the venue caters or if it was from an outside source but it was delish! Looking forward to working there again!

Check-in and badge pickup were easy, and everything was clearly organized with signs showing where the lines began and how to move through ticket scanning and up the escalators. The event map helped a lot, and vendors were easy to find. There was a great mix of food, drinks, desserts, chocolates, warm meals, and even merchandise, plus short chef demos and fun bartending classes happening throughout the festival. The venue itself handled the crowd well, and the aisles were clearly marked, which made walking around comfortable. It was nice to see live chef presentations where they explained dishes step by step. Parking is available in both the North Building and South Building garages, which is convenient, but it is on the expensive side.

The design is mostly underground and very confusing at first, it took me a couple of days to get the layout down. The rooms were comfortable and visual and audio all worked well. Bathrooms were tidy and everything was clean. I especially liked the hallway seating, there were tons of little nooks with comfy couches and chairs where you could tuck away in between lectures.

I recently had the chance to visit RTCC during an open house and holiday gathering. RTCC is owned by the city and it is a space where residents, community members, owners of small businesses and community groups gather together to promote the spirit of the season. It is also a historic Post Office building that shares space with Toronto Public Library and the South Riverdale Child Parent Centre.

The Event was on the 2nd floor of the Centre in a fairly spacious and inviting room which seemed quite appropriate for the occasion. The Event featured a talk about the craft beers being offered by 2 very local Breweries for about 30 minutes, then the balance of the Event was a Q&A session followed by the opportunity to sample the 5 beers on offer as well as indulge in a light snack. The location of the Centre was quite convenient, being not too far east of the Queen/Broadview intersection. The venue obviously features a wide variety of Events overall which helps to both service and showcase the quaint Riverdale community.

Several grab and go food and beverage kiosks were also available. If you are ever an exhibitor, check which Hall your program is in. Our ride app driver dropped us off at D, and we had a trek with our exhibit materials to Hall B! However, that area is great if you are using wheelchairs or have other needs. There is an elevator to the exhibit hall floors from the parking and street areas. This was a nice venue and the staff are all personable and professional!

This building is a heritage site and a part of Exhibition Place. I worked at The Ex (Canadian National Exhibition) three different summers. My third stint was a cashier position for a Mexican eatery that was at the Automotive Building. It was just before I started my fourth and last year of undergraduate studies. It was cool working in this building. There were vintage cars that were also in this space. I probably didn't appreciate them as much as I do now, but it's nice looking back knowing that there were indeed car exhibits in this building. Gone are those car exhibits. You can only see Automotive Building as part of the building's concrete. These days, this space is for conferences. I frankly didn't go check it out. Part of me wants to preserve the memories that I have of this building. Perhaps if there is an event or conference that is held here and I'm attending it, I'd check it out. It was great admiring this building from afar. It opened in 1929. It's in good shape considering that it's practically a hundred years old. This building is close to the Princes' Gate. Parking at Enercare Centre is your best bet if you are driving. Otherwise, you can take the TTC or GO train down here. I enjoyed reminiscing.
