We came here for my husband's birthday recently and absolutely LOVED it! What a pity we live too far from Inverness to eat here more than, say, once or twice a year :( This is a truly superb restaurant in every way (and I don't say that often because I am a critical, nit-picking kind of person who likes perfection but seldom encounters it)!! The surroundings are beautiful and ornate; everything is spotlessly clean where it matters most. The dining area is huge and it's extremely unlikely you'll ever be squashed up against other diners. There's plenty of space and the seats are comfortable and relaxing. The tables are set out beautifully too. We sat beside the window to watch people going to and fro along the street. The food is out of this world!!! From the unexpected free starter (lovely little crispy bread pieces with two gorgeous dips) to the melt-in-the-mouth exceptional main courses which were beautifully cooked (I have NEVER had such a delicious aubergine!!) and the exquisite sweet baklava dessert, it really was a meal to die for. The owner, Mustafa, was extremely nice. He came and sat with us at the end when we were lingering over coffee (my husband LOVED the spiced Turkish coffee) and we had a pleasant chat about many things. It's really important to him that his customers are well fed and happy. I really can't imagine how anyone eating here could be anything else!! Definitely 5 stars for this outstanding place - I would give it more if I could :)

Good Mediterranean food, from the hummus and dips to the grilled meats. Friendly owner, and authentic food. Very enjoyable meal.
My mom, sister and our friend were vacationing in Inverness for almost a week and were looking for a place to have dinner our first night. We were able to get in at Aspendos and proceeded to have the best lamb, chicken, and hummus we'd ever had anywhere. To qualify the above statement - we are all very seasoned travelers and have been all over Europe, America, some places in the Middle East, Africa, Japan, China, Russia, Indonesia, Central and South America, Canada, and UK. We've had good food. Mustafa is the owner and greeted our table, told us about the menu, and answered any questions we had. He also made perfect recommendations for our meal choices and based on the stars of this review - you can see he was spot on. The place is well appointed, very clean, aesthetically attractive, and clutter-free. All of their food is incredibly flavorful, juicy, beautifully presented, and plentiful. If you go to one non-traditional Scottish cuisine place while you're in Inverness - it needs to be Aspendos. And you can quote me. read more

The food may have been authentic, it was difficult to tell. The food was tasty but average. The service was slow and the server a little strange. The atmosphere was not good with the intense lighting. read more

Our b&b owner could not say enough good things about this place and I can totally see why. We were able to walk in with a quick phone call ahead to make sure they had seating for dinner. They had the availability and the staff was so nice and welcoming. For a starter, we tried Saksuka with Turkish bread. The veggies were quite tasty and the bread was crispy and warm. My main I got the Somon which was a nice filet of salmon with a little pesto over the top with a side of shredded carrots, cabbage, lettuce and rice. My husband got the special chicken which was a stuffed chicken breast of veggies topped with cheese. I tried a bite without cheese and wow was that a nicely done piece of chicken. Service was fast and if we lived in the area, we would absolutely be here on a regular basis. read more
The best food that we've had so far on our trip. Everything was extremely fresh and authentic! The decorations inside were beautiful!! We enjoyed the lamp kabobs and the hummus the most. Would highly recommend! read more

Went here solely based on Yelp reviews. Had the set menu and it was fantastic. Start with the wine. Had a a bottle of a Rioja for 28 pounds and it was really nice. Ended up with two bottles for the four of us. The set menu you each pick out a main course and they bring a table full of appetizers and bread. At least 7 dishes! All were very fresh and super tasty. Could have made a meal there. two of our group had the salmon, one had the chicken guvec and I had the minced lamb kofte. I am not going to write details on each. Just know that no one had anything left on their plate. Would highly recommend this place! read more

Very delicious! Free bread with spiced eggplant dip and cream dip Grilled lamb chops were juicy and flavorful. The Mixed meat plate was good but lamb chops were the best. The plates come with white rice and a light salad. It was overall very fresh and delicious. The owner is Turkish and is very friendly. read more

Traditional Mediterranean and Turkish food - a great alternative to try authentic and fresh cuisine instead of the usual fish and chips or mince and tatties. And at these prices it'd be rude not to - £7.95 for two courses at lunch time or £11.95 between 6pm-8pm early evening menu. The complimentary flat bread is delicious but be careful not to fill yourself on this alone as there are lots of other tasty treats ahead. The kebabs are second to none. Now when I say kebabs please stop imagining the greasy, fat dripping chunk of lard that is attached to a spit at your local kebab shop as this is a different class altogether and it is an insult to compare it to what you grab after a night on the sauce!!! These kebabs are fresh, tasty and do not have one bit of fat on them! Accompanied with a crunchy salad and sauce this is my favourite main dish of the place. I've also tried a few of the other dishes including Tavuk Guvec (Chicken cooked with onions, peppers, garlic, tomato, mushrooms served with rice) and Kayisili Ispanak (Spinach, tomatoes, onion and dried apricot served with rice) which were good but the kebab just does it for me. If you like humus from Tescos then you haven't tried anything until you have tried humus from this place as this is the real deal. In fact, with all the tastes and flavours in the food you'd be forgiven for forgetting that you're actually in Inverness!!! The Borek (Filo pastry filled with feta cheese and spinach deep fried) is delicious and the perfect starter to leave your taste buds craving more. If you haven't noticed I love this place. Sometimes you go out to restaurants and feel a little guilty for indulging but if you go and eat here you don't need to worry about counting the calories as the fresh flame grilled chicken kebab and crispy salad can only be a good thing. read more
While I was having a wee donder about the city, a local store owner recommended this place to me. I was greeted by the owner who made friendly chitchat, and who went over the menu with me. In the end, I couldn't decide what I wanted so I told him to surprise me. He looked nervous, but every dish he brought me was better than the last. I really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the conversation. It also helped that the locals really like it as well. Go here. You won't be disappointed. read more

Oh my gosh, where to start. The owner made it a point to come to our table to say hello but when he saw we had some questions and dietary concerns he stayed to help us figure out what to order and offered recommendations. The food was amazing, the service impeccable and the atmosphere fun. I would highly recommend anyone staying or passing through Inverness to eat here! read more

Fantastic! We needed a break from pub food during our stay in Scotland. Although there were many lamb choices, we each had a chicken dish, and it was very good. The service was friendly and efficient. We'd definitely go back. read more

Wonderful change from heavier Scottish food. Big menu, perfect spices, very fresh. We had swordfish wrapped in foil with veggies and it was perfectly cooked. A few small dishes too. Great meal. read more

Just got into town with the family and found this on Yelp. The food is excellent - as is the service. Great veggie options and others liked the grilled chicken. About the best Mediterranean restaurant we have ever visited. And we are old, so have been to quite a few! read more

One of the best places I've eaten at. Their food tastes amazingly fresh which was a wonderful break from all the fried foods in Scotland. My friend had a lamb dish which he swears was the best dish he ever had. Sorry I don't know what it was. The service was good as well. They were attentive and friendly. And even joked that we could stay and sleep there. I think they heard my friend worship the food and the cook. read more

A great addition to Inverness's eating options. This Turkish restaurant has recently opened and offers both quality and quantity in Mediterranean dining. The meat is cooked to perfection and the sauces and dips would leave you wanting for more if the portion sizes weren't so generous. read more

Excellent food. The fish was fresh and well prepared. The homemade hot sauce/oil was delicious We were a party of 8 with two vegetarians and every dish we ordered was fantastic. Need to hire more staff to improve the experience during busy times. Hardworking proprietor and staff but they could use some more help. read more

A very pleasant Turkish Restaurant in the centre of Inverness. I went there as part of a large party. Despite everyone arriving in dribs and drabs everyone got their drinks and starters quickly and we all managed to get our mains in short order. The food was fine, well priced and came in decent servings. The waiting staff were pleasant and unobtrusive. Not fine dinning but a good place for a big do like a work outing. read more

Great food but the waiter ignored us while he yelled at someone in Turkish for 20 minutes!

We were staying in Inverness overnight and chose to eat at Aspendos. A table was found for our group of four even though the restaurant was very busy and we hadn't booked. We chose the meze meal with a main course. The food was delicious and portions were generous. We were very pleased that we had chosen to eat here and will return if we are in the area again. read more

If I could, I would give this establishment 0 stars. I searched yelp by filtering on the 'good for kids' tag and this came up. When we got there, my baby was crying, so the person at the door asked if I thought he would stop crying soon because he couldn't seat us if he kept crying. I was not planning to go into the restaurant till my baby calmed down anyway, but had just entered the door to let them know we were there so the rest of my party could be seated. I let him know that I couldn't guarantee that my 18 month old would not cry for the whole time that we were at the restaurant. He said he couldn't seat us. I gave him a piece of my mind, and we left. His colleague Mohammad came out to apologize to us and coax us to come back in, but I let him know that we had been made to feel unwelcome before we even got inside, and while I accept his apology, I was not going to give them my business. I told them to take off the 'good for kids' tag and that I was sincerely disappointed in their lack of empathy. Terrible experience. read more
