He put in an implant base; grafting; and stitches. Only took a couple ibuprofen for a day or two. Very skilled surgeon- I have been to over 20 dentist/oral surgeons and he ranks at the top of my 70+ year million dollar mouth!

Today I visited River Rock Oral Surgery to have a wisdom tooth removed. Overall, the staff was…read moreextremely pleasant and informative when I called to make the appointment. Scheduling was easy, and they provided a clear initial quote for the procedure, which I appreciated -- especially since I don't have dental insurance. However, I want to share my experience so others know what to expect. When I received the quote, I was told it would be $1,895 but could be up to $700 less. I understood this to mean that the extra charge would only apply if the extraction was more complicated than expected. Unfortunately, what wasn't communicated upfront is that the $700 was actually for an optional PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy. I didn't find this out until I was already in the chair, IV ready, and moments away from the procedure. That's when the doctor came in and pitched the benefits of PRP, saying it could help with healing and pain. He did say it was optional, but it felt more like an upsell -- as if my choice was to "do this or wing it." Given that I had budgeted for the higher end of the quote and didn't want to jeopardize my recovery, I agreed to the PRP. But I told the doctor right then that I felt uncomfortable about how this was presented -- and I still do. For me, this came across as a last-minute sales pitch rather than part of an informed consent process. If I'd known about this add-on ahead of time, I would have had the chance to do my own research and decide without pressure. On the positive side, my recovery has gone very well -- no pain in my mouth and good healing so far. (Day one) I just can't help but feel frustrated and a little sick to my stomach that I may have paid for something I wasn't given the time to properly evaluate. In short: I'm not saying don't go to this surgeon. The care itself was good. But I strongly recommend you ask detailed questions when you get your quote and don't be afraid to push for clear answers about optional procedures and costs. Buyer beware -- and be your own advocate!

I went in because I broke a tooth, or rather shattered it, and discovered a horrible cavity under the surface. The dental assistant asked if I'd like it taken out, since that seemed to be the only option. I expected as much. So I said yes and she went and got me my estimate. While waiting, Dr. Uldrikson came in and didn't say a word. If I hadn't said hello, I doubt he would've made a peep at me. He was horribly rough, he shoved that needle in my mouth so hard I barely had time to comprehend what he had just done. No warning, nothing. He didn't even tell me he was about to numb me. Then he wandered off without telling me what he was doing. I knew we had to wait for the numbing to kick in, but still, at least say "I will be right back." Or something. When he went to start the extraction, I wasn't numb all the way so he had to try a few more times. Each time he was as rough as the first time. He scraped my tongue with the needle a couple times too. Didn't even apologize. The extraction itself was fine, after being numbed a thousand times, of course I'm not gonna feel it. But as soon as he was done he was off. Didn't say another word to me, he just ran off to his next paycheck. That was how I felt, like he was digging in my mouth for gold and once he was done, it was "Screw off, see you later." The dental assistant, thankfully, told me about my aftercare and made me feel comfortable and at ease. I am SO grateful for her. Then when I went to leave, the receptionist told me the doctor wrote down that I need two more teeth examined, which he didn't say a word to me about at all. Didn't even hint at it. He pointed them out when he first looked in my mouth but all he said was "Got a couple cavities back here." And that was it. He didn't say he wanted to examine them or what he wanted to do. The receptionist had to get up and go ask him what that was about. Hell no I am not going back to him. I pity his staff for having to work with such an uncaring, unprofessional, stone cold husk of a man. Perhaps if he worked on his bedside manner and didn't man handle people in a delicate situation, I would. But I won't. Bad form, doc. Bad form..

He needs to understand that a doctors office is no place for being racist and politically charged -maybe its okay at the art gallery to take your anger out on white ladies but I felt he was taking out his issues by being passive aggressive toward me and pajoratively telling me where to go after the receptionist downstairs was watching tv so loud she didn't even notice or try to help direct me walking up a broken escalator . I was pregnant for the first time nervous and scared and near 40. He just had zero bedside manner. He told me to answer a questionairre about experiencing domestic violence and how my a parents died while asking other insensitive questions and not slowing down at all. He would also not tell me my height in feet and inches but I fail to believe he does not know that since I too grew up between here and Mexico and have worked in medicine. Its a basic requirement of the job not an bilingual issue. He knew how to read my height but perhaps I was so much taller than him it angered him. Not the first time ive experienced this and no I dont play basketball. By the time the other nurse came to do my blood pressure they could not get an accurate reading. I was crying for my mother and shaking saying i wana go home and he didnt care and kept asking until he saw he was hurting me with blood pressure and left. Is this some entitled angry gen z mentality ? I am not sure but macho racist behavior again has no place at community doctors office toward a pregnant woman seeking care no matter the color of her skin. After my lovely doctor came in the nurse came in with conflicting information again about my blood work and I spent half the day crying trying to understand and call the lab. I should not be crying over confusion and lack of care bc of my race and or not being from LA. Many people come here for opportunity and not all of us look the same. Its your job as a nurse to learn the language of your job and to treat us equal and keep politics at home or maybe in the art gallery if you must but Micro aggression is not the answer. And NOT cool at a doctor. Grow up and show some compassion to your clients. You literally damaged my health with your behavior. As you can see I dont write bad reviews here usually. I have been working since I was a kid and its generally not kind to do to a worker however at doctors office there is a level of expected professionalism and care. And i dont want another pregnant woman to be hurt by his anger toward us. Perhaps I am sensitive besucase I was recently assaulted by a daranged also short man --LA is wild out there--- carry mace but doc office should be safe people. Again im sensitive bc of the recent attack but i don't think im wrong here. I trust my intuition as a teacher and new mother and believe his attitude could have been way kinder and aware. Night and day between he and doctor and other nurse perhaps he just needs to learn...but im no stranger to the issues and just dont think they belong in a chair where my blood is being drawn while asking ab my life story.

They are attentive, respectful, mindful, thorough, and consistent. The psychiatrist I saw was willing to listen to my mental problems and I think June the therapist was a very sweet lady there to just listen which I can always appreciate. I really like the dentist I see. She and the assistants make me feel comfortable and they seem non judgemental. I have the nastiest teeth for a 32 year old. Tsk tsk on me. The substance abuse counselor, Mr. Felix was such a breath of fresh air. He went at my pace and we set realistic goals for my road to recovery. I will always choose their services over anyone else's except I'm in a program which means I have to see my program's psychiatrist only. Very good people and professional :)
