After my first appointment, I left a five star review on Google. Several things have happened since then and I tried to find that review and change it but I couldn't get back to it. This review will be long, but you'll want to read all of it. Today I must admit that they are a very disorganized dental office and I don't feel quite safe there anymore. The phone is always answered with a recording & even if you leave a message, your important phone calls will not be returned anytime soon. The thing that makes me most nervous is the technicians seem confused about their jobs more often than not. On my last visit, one of them tried to make me have another series of x-rays taken which I'd already had done. I told the girl I didn't think I was supposed to have any more x-rays since all of mine had been completed, and asked if she was totally sure. She immediately said yes--WITHOUT CHECKING any paperwork. Then she casually led me into the x-ray lab and proceeded to follow the routine to get me all set up. Dr. Strickland happened to walk past just in time and he stopped as soon as he saw me. He said to the tech, "What are you doing? Teresa is only here for a wax impression!" So she stepped out into the hall to speak to him, and discovered she had taken the WRONG patient. She was supposed to take someone else for x-rays. Tomorrow I am scheduled to have all of my teeth removed for dentures. This is a major thing. They were supposed to call my Pharmacy two days ago and order a prescription I will need in the morning. They still have not done it. I called the office and got a recording, but no human to talk to. Their website does not even provide an email to reach them the way other Dentistry websites do. Employees had bad attitudes, the dentist didn't even introduce himself and sent me away in pain when all I needed was a root canal and he wouldn't touch me because of my gums! I went to another dentist and was told all I needed was a deep cleaning but they wanted to get my tooth done first! I would not recommend ASPEN DENTAL to my worst enemy!!!!! Oh and I went back the next day to get a copy of my X-rays and the woman looked up from her desk and said WHAT! Make sure you ask for itemized bills of exactly what they are charging you because I asked point blank to pay for a cleaning and they snuck a $140 toothbrush on my bill and had me PAY FOR IT prior to my actual cleaning. I only found out that I had paid for this because when hygienist presented it to me along with $50 worth of toothpaste and mouth wash, I stated that I already had a similar toothbrush (mine only being $40 and the exact same) and she said "well you will just have a credit on your account." At no point was I asked if i wanted this outrageously expensive toothbrush or pay for the treatment plan they had in mind. When I asked the front desk why she had me pay for this stuff i didn't ask for, she said it was standard protocol. Adding items to people bill without their knowledge and having them unknowing pay for it is standard procedure for this facility. I will not be going back here to have the dental work done that i need nor will i let anyone that i know go here without knowing how shady they are. read more

Do not go to Aspen dental for dentures! They made my temporary dentures and I could not wear them. I went in 4 times for adjustments and still couldn't wear them. I prepaid for the permanent dentures that were never made and I was told that they would not refund me for the work they never did!! The temporary dentures were so terrible that I couldn't talk, eat, or drink with them in my mouth and every time I tried to wear them my mouth would bleed and hurt so much. I would never trust them to make the permanent dentures when they did such an awful job on the temporary. read more

The best way to sum up the experience at Aspen Dental in Butler PA is to say that it is a crying shame that the absolute best dentist in the world has to work with the worst possible office staff ever. I can not praise the work this dentist does enough, seriously the best. But the trade off is you have to deal with an office staff that has no clue what they are doing and then has the rudest most unprofessional attitude ever when you press them on what they are charging you and why. Any questions at all to them are met with disdain and and annoyance and then they get upset and become even more rude and ignorant. I was charged for a regular 6 month insurance covered checkup and cleaning on December 6,2022. But I was charged $57.00 exam fee prior to actually seeing the dental hygienist. I contacted my insurance carrier and was told I should not have been charged anything it was covered. Since then I have been trying to receive my refund and each time been told it is in process and promised by January 10th by Aspen's business manager. I had dentures made there a few yrs ago, they never did fit right. they kept adjusting from the bottom, when the problem was on top of my gums thereby making the bottom denture not hold at all. Also, the top denture was not made wide enough, so the teeth on it were cutting my tongue, again, shaving the gum part making it too short and unable to wear. I paid the $1200 in full, I never got reimbursed for anything, the dentures didn't fit, they wouldn't listen and by the time i got my point across they said 'no you have no more adjustments. I actually needed a whole new set of dentures. I say pick a real dentist and don't waste money you don't have on this place!!! read more

Don't go here. If your reading a review on Yelp about dentists then you obviously care about your teeth and money. My money and time was wasted here in March, 2013. I had to get 5 filings done and I only had Aflac insurance (Work didn't carry dental). I went in, got the x-rays, and then they scheduled the appointment. I was naive and didn't know any better but they severely overcharged me. I got the fillings done. Paid my extreme amount. I was unhappy about it but I got my teeth fixed, right? Wrong. Months later my fillings still hurt. I couldn't eat food on the normal area of my mouth. It's now June 2013 (3-4 months later). I went and got my teeth checked at a more recommended dentist. He fixed 2 of the fillings today and I know he wasn't happy with how my teeth were taken care of at Aspen. He said the "technique" he used was "improper." Which is a nice way of saying he did a shit job. Instead of filling my teeth with the "goop" then hardening it, he laid a layer over top the filling. So when I was biting down the hardened gel wasn't attached to my tooth causing nerve pain. Hopefully someone reads this review and saves themselves the headache and the money. You may get a free first exam and xrays, but then they give you a "dental plan" to fix every little issue with your mouth, including replacement of old fillings that don't need fixed. Absolutely the best dental experience of my life! Had my bottom teeth pulled at an Aspen Dental in Michigan, but had to have my permanent ones made in PA. because we were moving back. They were amazing! They even made me a new upper denture because they weren't satisfied with the one I had. The fit is so perfect they feel like my own teeth! And they're beautiful! I had dental work done in April and was told that they had checked and my insurance would cover nothing. I paid 1276.80 in April later found out that Aspen submitted an insurance claim and were paid more than 700.00 dollars and never notified me. When I called them the first time they denied having receiving the payment. I asked when they were planning to notify and there was no response. In two subsequent calls they have promised a partial refund which has not come. Be careful doing business with these people they do not tell the truth and can not be trusted . I am now reaching out to the attorney general since there appears to be many other complaints according to a Google search that I should have done sooner says. read more

I just want to start by saying that the dentist at the Butler, PA facility - Dr. Nathan Laughrey - is by far and away, hands down, the BEST dentist I have every encountered. After hearing several "Aspen Dental Horror Stories", I reluctantly went in an emergency situation with a severely infected jaw. My situation went far beyond the immediate and he showed me the x-rays and explained the prognosis was nothing short of complete extraction and dentures. I, of course, was devastated and heartbroken. The staff was supportive, and truly showed me care and concern. Although I had insurance, there was still a balance that needed to be financed, which they also helped me with. The interest rate is a little high, but cheaper than laying in a hospital receiving intravenous IV's of antibiotics for infections that stemmed from an oral issue. The extraction was done immaculately, post-op scheduled and although I can't say this is the most pleasant experience I have ever had, the staff and especially Dr. Laughrey have done everything they could to make it less traumatic. The temporary dentures were expertly crafted and needed a minor adjustment, which they promptly addressed at my post-op. I am only a few days into this - but it is already 100 % better than what I was dealing with before. The staff at Aspen worked with me on schedules, financing, and have been highly supportive. And I don't have enough good words to say about Dr. Laughrey - he is truly amazing - wish I had met him 5 years ago ! I NEVER write reviews - but have to for this ! Dr. Laughrey has been my dentist for years, and everyone in this office has always been great. Appointment times are convenient, and cost is always reasonable. As a physician myself, I appreciate the professionalism and skill of the dentist and staff, which is why I don't mind driving nearly an hour to continue going to them rather than take a chance on just anyone closer to where I now live. Do yourself a favor and treat this place as if the entire building had leprosy, in other words stay away. Absolutely the worst dental experience I have ever had in my entire life. I had the mispleasure of going to this place because this was the only place that could see me for the week instead of a month in advance. They pulled me in for some oral hygiene work including 2 fillings after my initial appointment and since the dentist apparently doesn't know how to use anesthesia properly, it hurt like hell. And his only answer was some more anesthesia which didn't work and to reschedule and finish it in 2 weeks. He even tried to pass it off as bad work from another dentist. As I write this review they tried to pull me in for another appointment two weeks to "finish everything" up after I left and after they tried to schedule me for a 6 month appointment. Terrible! After charging me 200$ after insurance to pull a tooth they left a large piece in that got infected n I had to go to another dentist to have it fixed , but that wasn't even the worse while they were stitching my gum they shoved the needle right through my upper lip! Luckily I just felt the pressure of it going through because it was so numb but it hurt like crazy for about 2 days afterwards ! I suggest you immediately start looking for a different dentist. These people are inexcusable and don't have one ounce of integrity! My mother is 85 years old and started having a lot of pain in a tooth so she went to this dental office where she was told that they couldn't extract the tooth until her doctor submitted an approval form. So her doctor's office submitted the form immediately but when she went back the next day to have the tooth pulled she was told that the dentist was going on vacation for two weeks. TWO WEEKS WITH EXTREME TOOTH PAIN AND I GUESS THEY WEREN'T AWARE OF THIS VACATION THE PRIOR DAY! Another dentist in Butler took her in right away and extracted the tooth in a few minutes without the need for these special approval forms. Previously they made a bridge for my mother and put in in but apparently didn't remove the roots of the old teeth first, so now an oral surgeon has to correct that issue and make a new bridge. Dr. Laughrey and his assistants are wonderful. My husband and I both had extensive work done at very affordable prices (we have insurance) and the care and aftercare were great! I had one less than good experience but that was with the female dentist so I only see Dr. Laughrey now. He and the girls that work with him really care about their patients and the girls at the desk remember you and address you by name as soon as you come through the door. It's worth my 25 mile drive to get to them, even though there are atleast 6 other dentists within 10 minutes of my home. read more
