I went to Aspen dental in July to fix some pain I was having in a back molar. They were good enough to see me and took my insurance. We had an x-ray done and they sold me that I needed a deep cleaning. I ended up agreeing, even though it seemed strange to me that it was going to cost me $1600+ just for 2 cleanings and an appointment with their endodontist to find out what was causing the pain. They had me pre pay that amount. Keep in mind this is with insurance, my wife on the same plan had a free cleaning, but mine was far more expensive, lasted about 15 mins per session and in no way seemed to be worth $1600. I saw the specialist and she couldn't tell me why I had the pain, I might have a crack, might be able to do a crown or just pull the tooth. They quoted me some procedures, but I passed. By the time I saw the endodontist the pain had abated. Then about a month later they started sending me bills.. this is after they told me everything was taken care of. The first bill was over $900, then they brought it down to $430. I called multiple times to get it resolved, and they told me that they were still working with insurance. The last time I called they admitted that they had charged twice for an x-ray and insurance wasn't covering it. As I explained to them, insurances don't pay when you double bill. That is not a legal practice and that they should fix it. I tried to resolve this with them three times from the corporate number and the site. They are still sending bills, I am not sure why. I am already upset at myself for paying the $1600 for a cleaning and a consultation. I can't believe this place ripped me off already tremendously and is trying to keep doing it since my insurance won't pay for their fraud. I am still awaiting resolution, but I would not recommend giving Aspen Dental your business. read more

Before I call in to schedule the appointment I mention the treatments I might need that if anything I would need a cleaning. They were happy to facilitate up until I get there wait almost two hours for just a consultation. I didn't get a cleaning and the recommended treatment plan was completely different from the what was advised from the dentist. I was also trying to be sold on premium treatment options and just to add in they don't have an in house specialist for root canals so I would have to leave to another office to get any treatment done. Extremely rude and condescending. The clientele appears to be from vulnerable, underprivileged populations who are low income and uneducated. I think this is part of the reason the staff treats their patients like children. Condescending tone of voice, demeanor, and body language. Reminiscent of a government office for social service benefits: e.g., food stamps, social security benefits, Medicaid. Total public health clinic vibe. No emphasis on customer service or patient care. Instead, rigid atmosphere where staff wants to enforce arbitrary rules and deadlines, such as declining service if someone is a few minutes late, even if medical professionals are still available to treat patients. Not willing to be flexible and make accommodations for patient in pain and in need of immediate treatment. Also, refused to consult with patient's primary dental provider. (They probably can't bill for it.) The office manager runs the Brandon location. She directs and controls the dentist. It's a Franchise business approach to dentistry that elevates business concerns over patient care. No personal or professional doctor-patient relationships established. Everything felt transactional. Like at a retail store. The customers is made to feel like someone holding a number at the Publix deli. In sum, it's the McDonalds of dentistry. Located in a strip mall right next to Jersey Mikes. I wish I could give 0 stars to this location. I came in with a filling that came out and they tried to tell me I have periodontal disease and charge me nearly $4,000 for a "deep cleaning" that I would need to make a different appointment for before they would even think about fixing my tooth. When I asked why I needed that cleaning, the office employee told me i had "an active infection in my mouth" WHICH WAS NOT TRUE!!! I'm in a medical school program now and they picked the wrong person to try to scam. They let me leave the office with an open hole in my tooth, saying nothing but "sorry that's how much it costs." I went to a different dentist who told me that Aspen Dental diagnosed me with periodontal disease - which she confirmed I do not have. I can't believe that this company was trying to take advantage of a young woman with no insurance, which is why they could get away with diagnosing me with a disease I don't have. Please do not go here, they are ONLY after your money, they do not want to provide correct and ethical healthcare for their patients. Unprofessional. Every visit I had here was issue after issue. I've had nothing but problems with the work I had done. Never had problems with fillings falling out or anything of the sort until now. Every single visit was a "teaching experience" having inexperienced trainees practicing, 5 people in the room, 4 hands in my mouth. Leaving assistants to "prep" only to return, apologize and redo their work. I had one tooth being worked on they repacked the cord in my gums three times. I recently went to the Aspen Dental on Causeway Blvd. DO NOT go to this office. I recently went in to have four teeth taken care of, and was told I need a deep cleaning first. Okay, not a problem. I assumed it would cost a maximum of $800 or so. The charges were never at any time gone over with me. Once it was over, I was floored when I was charged over $3,600. For a deep teeth cleaning!!!!! Let that sink in. $3,600 for a teeth cleaning. Believe me, if I would have been told I would be charged $3,600 for a simple deep teeth cleaning, I would have laughed in their face and immediately left their offices. My mother in law is a dental assistant (for 50 years) and has advised everyone not to go to Aspen Dental. It's known as a starter practice for new grads and employees and doctors don't stay there long. Sort of like a nurse needing to get experience on Med Surg before picking his/her specialty. Therefore there is no continuity of care for the patients. I moved to Brandon, in 2016, but kept my dentist in Land O Lakes (she's trained in how to treat patients with severe odontophobia). I had some fillings done, over the years, but had a dental emergency in 2021. I couldn't get into my dentist in Land O Lakes, but Aspen in Brandon was incredibly helpful and was able to see me right away. They extracted the broken tooth for me and then created an in-depth care plan. I was so happy with their customer service and kindness that I transferred my care to their office. Over the last year, I have had to have a few extractions and some maintenance work done. The dentist kept telling me I needed to get the work done at one time. So, I recently pulled the trigger and underwent the first portion of the extensive treatment plan. I cannot even tell you what a mistake I feel that was. The oral surgeon extracted all of the top teeth (14 I think) and one bottom tooth. He implanted bone and membrane, in four areas, and stitched me up. This is where my terror of dentists comes from. Incidents like what follows. So the oral surgeon didn't put the temporary denture in place after pulling all the top teeth. (This caused the oral tissue and gums to swell so badly, the temporary denture couldn't be fit with a comfort liner). So, for 2 1/2 weeks, I had hard denture rubbing against raw membrane and sutures. I'll get in to the lack of pain management shortly. Another thing is that I didn't receive ANY post op/discharge instructions. I remember initialing a discharge instructions page, in my pre-op paperwork, but my ride was only handed a bag with my temporary dentures in it with a packet of gauze. ONE packet of gauze to switch out from the bleeding of fourteen teeth being pulled. The oral surgeon prescribed Amoxicillin, Ibuprofen and 12 (yes 12) pain pills post op as well. After a few days, I was still so uncomfortable that the surgeon called in another round of Ibuprofen and 12 more pain meds. For almost three straight weeks I have cried, daily, in pain. Can't eat, can't sleep and have tried EVERYTHING I know to ease the pain (fyi; I'm a nurse). I'm sorry, but there are just times where pain medication is needed. I get the whole opioid crisis, etc., but the CDC has issued new guidelines about meds recently. What I went through post op is absolutely barbaric. Much more could have, and should have, been done to ease my anxiety and pain. I remained in so much pain, I thought I was rejecting the implants. I called the office, mouth still bleeding and terrified. I was told they'd "push through" some ibuprofen for me, but they couldn't schedule an appointment for me. If I wanted to be seen: I'd have to walk in first thing in the morning on Monday (this was Friday at 11:00 a.m.) and hope to be seen in between scheduled patients. I ended up going to a walk in clinic for a numbing mouth rinse and low dose pain medication. It helped quite a bit. There is so much more that there just isn't room for. I will say this; I regret going through this practice for my work. I feel like a dollar sign here. Please find a dentist that actually cares if you can eat without crying. This experience is exactly why I'm terrified to go to the dentist in the first place. read more

I've been coming to the Brandon location of Aspen Dental for over a year. It seems they have cut back on personnel, as each time the wait time is longer (today I waited 50min to be brought back) and their office hours have been reduced. They advertise free initial consultation for new patients. Never understood the business model behind it until today: although I've never had a cavity in my life (thankfully) I've been told in the past that I needed "deep cleaning with anesthesia" instead of regular cleaning (thankfully a later hygienist disagreed with this and performed a regular one) and today I was told that I needed xrays every 6 months. Now I'm not a dentist, but I am a doctor, and I know with my excellent oral health there is no need for me to have deep cleanings or need xrays every 6 months. I believe they try to squeeze as much money out of patients' insurance companies as they can for their profit and to maintain their business model, but I don't enjoy being over tested because of my copays and because of the unnecessary testing. I got my wisdom teeth out at aspen dental. The surgery went well and the oral surgeon was friendly, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of just one. Before my wisdom teeth came out, they were infected. The infection had spread to my jaw as well. A doctor at a different aspen dental prescribed me antibiotics. After the surgery, the infection was still present, along with swollen lymph nodes. I called back in hopes that they would treat my infection, as most dental offices would. Sadly, I did not get the name of the woman at the front desk who I spoke to over the phone. I informed her that my infection had not gone away and I was wondering what I had to do to get more antibiotics. She told me, it wasn't a dental infection so they couldn't help me. I explained to her that this was the same infection that came from my wisdom teeth. She began to argue with me that it isn't their problem, essentially. I never got the opportunity to speak to a dentist due to her argumentative attitude. I don't know where she think she got her medical degree from, but when I went to urgent care, they could hardly believe the way she treated me, and confirmed that she was wrong. I must say that is is the best dental experience in as long as I can remember. I had an appointment for 10am on Thursday, and was told to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to fill out new patient paperwork because their online system was having trouble, therefore I wasn't able to complete it in advance at home. I actually arrived at 9:45 am, and noticed the doors were still locked and they didn't actually open until 10am. This should have been told to me, but oh well I waited. Once they opened the doors I walked in about 1 minute after another patient. When I walked in, I noticed he already had his paperwork and was filling it out. I proceeded to sign in, and noticed a sign on the counter that said they are in their morning meeting. Since they knew they had a patient coming in at 10am, there should have been someone at the counter waiting to check me in. Not long after I was waiting, I was called to the back for x-rays. Once I was moved to a room, the receptionist came back and asked me to fill out the paperwork, and for my insurance information. This is when things started to get better, and I forgot all about the fact nobody was at the counter to greet me. The dental assistant came in and introduced herself. I believe her name was Michelle. She asked about my previous experiences with dental offices and explained how they are a new office, and strive for customer satisfaction. She literally had a questionnaire and wanted to know the likes and dislikes that I have. Also, what I wanted to gain from a dental experience; such as dental health, whiter teeth, etc. Next the dental hygienist came in and evaluated my teeth and gave her recommendations on how to proceed with a routine cleaning. Her name was Ms. Donna. She, along with the assistant were very kind. Next Dr. Fred comes in. He is a very kind and gentle dentist. Long story short, (not really since this is still a long review!!) the whole staff was so personable. They were even able to get me in for a cleaning the same day!! When I returned later that evening for my cleaning visit, it was just as good as my initial visit. So glad that I found this dentist office. I've tried 2 other offices in Brandon, and there is no comparison. The office is brand new, but it is very clean and they are big on being sanitary. I can't wait until my next visit lol! read more

Worst experience ever!!! I go in for the first time for an exam and cleaning. It took about an hour for them to call me back, even though I was the only person in the waiting room. The dental hygienist said my teeth looked pretty good except for some tarter build up and stains from being a smoker. Overall, better than the last time going to the dentist. No sign of gum disease or anything. Then the dental hygienist leaves and an office manager comes in. She said that I will need a deep cleaning which my insurance won't cover and it will be $1,100 out of pocket. First of all! I know for a fact that my insurance covers any preventative care and cleanings with no deductibles. So I have no idea what she was talking about. I told her I'm not paying that much for a cleaning so just do a regular one. She told me that is not possible, since the diagnosis was that I need a deep cleaning. She brought the hygienist back in to explain why I needed this horrendous up change that is not covered by insurance. He said that it was for liability reasons in case my teeth falls out then I can't sue them. We had just went over the condition of my teeth and there was nothing mentioned about that and they were perfectly fine except a little staining behind my teeth, which has been there forever and no dentist has ever said anything about. I then told them that I can't pay for it and I don't have the money to drop $1,100 when I wasn't expecting to, so I was then escorted off the premises and told that I don't need to come back there again by the office manager. read more

I went to a different dentist nearer to me first, they seemed reasonable, but after paying for the exam and being there an hour or so, they other office informed me, due to my roots being larger than anything they had seen before, they would not pull my tooth. They then refereed me to a place that refused to use the exams from the first office and wanted to charge me $1000 to pull 1 tooth, just 1, thats insane. So after arriving home and calling a few other places, whom all would gladly except the exams from the first office, i decided to go with Aspen, hey they offered a full free exam for new patients and were capable of getting me in within a couple hours of after making the call. After arriving, I signed in, filled out the normal insane amounts of paperwork for the 3rd time that day. After I sat down, i was called in like 30 seconds later, I JUST SAT DOWN. My teeth aren't all to great, due to a lack of brushing as a kid, so one look at my mouth and i saw dollar signs above the dentists head lol. He informed me about the tooth i needed extracted and and that my fillings all needed to be replaced, i knew that, but I am currently unemployed and don't have the money to do such a procedure, but when i get a job and money, i will go back. So they set me an appointment for the next day to get the tooth extracted. Next day, i get there, sign in and got called back in less than 5 minutes, the dentist made sure i was numbed pretty well and went to ripping out the decaying tooth, they did offered to write a prescription for pain, but eh, who needs it when I think everyone has Tylenol or aspiring of some kind at home, so i skipped that, now watch i will regret not getting the pain meds from him after the numbness wears off lol. Anyways, i would suggest checking out Aspen Dental first before overpaying at another place. read more

I am on vacation and experienced a broken tooth that became infected. Aspen Dental in St. Petersburg and Brandon, FL were incredible! They were quick and caring and got me in the same day. Meisha, the assistant who did my X-rays and assisted was so sweet and caring. Dr. Alexandra Arias was fantastic! She was gentle, caring and thorough. She explained everything I needed and performed my root canal that day. The staff was friendly and the office was following Covid 19 standards and I felt very safe. Scheduling an appointment and the onboarding was great. The pre-consultation team (x-ray, scanning, etc) was also 5 stars...and the Drs. too, but afterwards everything was according to the already several times here in many reviews described pattern. They go directly to too many x-rays, which takes aprox. 30-45 minutes and then to the deep cleaning with anesthesia and antibiotics recommendation instead of the regular free cleaning. I have a very good teeth and an excellent oral health and there is no need for me to have deep cleanings. Reading the reviews here, some of them from 2017, I believe they try to squeeze as much money out of patients as they can for their profit and to maintain their business model, and the most disappointed is that they won give you any other appointment or treatment like cavities an so on, until you do what they want. I don't understand how these chain business can kept they licenses over the years. Will not be coming back. read more

DONT GO HERE!! Whatever you do, stay away from here!!! My wife has been there a few times now and every time has been awful. First, if you have an appointment don't expect to be actually called back until 45 minutes after your appointment...The second visit were there for 3 hours just for an examination and in depth cleaning. Then they told my wife she needed some work and gave us the price. We paid up front and we're told she could come back and they would do all of it. So she went back and 3 hours later they had only done half the work!! The worst part of all though is their incredible "technician" didn't even take the mold of the tooth they were crowning. So after drilling the tooth down the dentist was like, "WTF." He lied to my wife and told her he would take extra measurements and it would be ok. They put in the temp crown. Well a few weeks have passed and my wife went in to get her permanent crown and guess what!!!!? It doesn't fit!!!!!! Now they are saying she has to come back again! Oh yeah, and not at our convenience (Saturday appointment) but she has to figure how to get off of work (unpaid by the way)!! To top it off they still only finished half of her mouth!!!! 0 stars! TOTAL SCAM! I have perfectly straight and healthy teeth. Went in for an exam/cleaning, never got a cleaning and was there for 2 hours. Dentist recommended a $400+ dollar retainer for my teeth that haven't moved in over 12 years since I've had braces nor did my orthodontist ever recommend that. Then teeth whitening on top of that because of the "stains on my teeth." Then a gingivitis cleaning that would cost $200+ with insurance. They refused to give me a regular cleaning and asked for the payment prior to the service. The office manager said a standard cleaning would be like treating an on the verge heart attack with aspirin. It was a complete waste of time and I'll never go back! Do not recommend!!! read more

I went to Aspen Dental on Causeway Blvd. for a aching tooth. I thought it just needed a filling. After the exam I was told that the tooth was infected and that a filling would not stop the pain and that it would require a root canal. No problem so far until I was brought into there business office and told that it would cost $3000 to do it. I was in pain but thought best to talk to my husband about it. He immediately said no way, we can go elsewhere. The con-lady was like "okay, good luck finding a better price" Update; not only did we find a better price but also from one of the top dentist in Brandon. We paid $650 for root canal and crown. Less than one third of Aspen Dentals price. What really bothers me the most is that they examined the wrong tooth. Believe me when I tell you that any dentist at Aspen most likely barely made it out of dental school. Aspen isn't the place to go to save your teeth. That's not their purpose. Their purpose is one thing. To sell you dentures. They will destroy your mouth for the most money possible just so they can sell you dentures for the highest price possible. I know this because my husband had a similar experience with them. It seems like they have a new staff every 3 months which tells me they are horrible. I would hate to be a dentist with Aspen Dental on my resume. They must be the laughing stock of the dental community. read more

My whole experience with Aspen has been horrible. I went for a broken/chipped tooth that held an upper bridge and they recommended to take all upper teeth because a new bridge was out of the question due to distance from one end to another I should have waited and see a real dentist. They took out all and set me with a temporary denture. I have been seen every month for 6 months to take impressions of the next temporary denture. All these six months i have not been able to chew or bite i a piece of bread or beef/chicken. Their customer service stinks and just called to set an appointment for my permanent dentures and they want to do another impression. By the way, it took five phone calls and two messages and they never returned my call today. I was lucky to get a live person on my 7th call. AMATEURS!!!! Booked an appt over the phone then when I get there the day of my appt it wasn't posted so they pretended it was there all along when it wasn't. I'm not stupid and the receptionist didn't want to look like they dropped the ball on this, so she played it off. That was just the beginning of the first negative issue. The Dental Surgeon Arina Doroshenko and the front counter staff members (Courtney) at this Aspen Dental location where excellent!! I was so scared to have my tooth pulled but with the care and soft touch from Arina my fears disappeared. I have Crohns disease and Arina was very concerned about my health and if i was comfortable throughout the procedure. She pulled my tooth within 10 minutes and best of all no pain and I did not need to be put to sleep :) The healing process is going well also very minimum pain and no bleeding. I recently moved to the area and wanted to use my second teeth cleaning before the benefit expired by the end of the year. I was so disappointed in the level of care and hospitality. First off as a new patient you have to make a new patient exam befor getting a cleaning, which makes no sense. All they do is take X-rays and look at your mouth. Why can't that be done at a normal cleaning? Second, I've waited in the waiting room longer than I sat in the chair. After you're done they bring you to a second waiting room instead of taking you straight to the check out desk. Why??? I sat in the second waiting room for 10 minutes and got up and walked to the check out desk to find no one was there. I had to literally find someone to check me out. Third, my teeth cleaning was the worst cleaning I've ever had in my life, so bad I went home and cried because of the level of dissatisfaction I felt. They made an assistant polish my teeth and that was it. Then the hygienist came, looked in my mouth, and then told me my gums were red. My direct response was well you literally just polished TF out of them. Never have my guns throbbed after a cleaning. I've always been told I have the cleanest mouth and take great care of my teeth. I'm just so disappointed in my experience and I will be taking a trip back to NY twice a year just for a teeth cleaning before going back to this place. read more
