Okay, people. I have given this advice to many of my close friends and acquaintances, so it will only be fair to pass it along to you. NEVER use a dry cleaner that does not operate its own plant. That is, if they ship your garments to a third party, it is best that you go to the dry cleaner down the street. This one, however, operates its own plant, which is one of the reasons I use it.
My grandmother, my mother, and I have been taking our clothing there since they first opened (I believe I was about 9 when they did). In all the years we have been using them, they have never lost, ruined, or otherwise provided unsatisfactory service to any of our garments. Granted, they may not be the speediest (I believe same-day or next-day service is by request only), they have always had my clothing ready earlier than the 5pm pickup time printed on the ticket (I usually go in around 2:30 or 3:00). Additionally, I have never had any complaints about the price. Though it seems to fluctuate a bit, I have always felt they charge a fair price for the service.
I must say, too, they even performed a couple dry cleaning miracles for me over the years. One night, I went out on the town, got throughly intoxicated, and wound up vomiting on my wool coat. I took the coat in after the vomit dried a bit, and when it came back, it looked as new as the day I bought it. I seriously doubt there are other dry cleaners in the area that can treat a garment that well, especially the ones that do not operate their own plant (My mom's friend's husband uses one that doesn't, and he always has complaints).
I will say this: anyone in the area who needs dry cleaning should visit Aspen Cleaners. read more
