Gateway Oaks has been good to us while we have been here. Pros: The units themselves have nice finishes in the kitchen and bathroom. Hardwood in the bathroom and kitchen, carpet in the rest. They are priced accordingly (pretty cheap, in my opinion) however, word on the street is that prices are jumping up due to popularity and other apartments and shopping that is being built along Gateway. The hallways are enclosed and climate controlled, and you have to have a key fob to gain access to the hallways, which is safe. The pool area is super nice and spacious and stays pretty busy during the summer. Cons: The trash by building 2 is always overflowing and gross, and the garbage men usually don't pick up what isn't thrown into the dumpster. There aren't really many community events. There wasn't one in my almost year of living here. I don't really know the other tenants. Communication from office to residents kind of sucks. Just tell us things last minute. Overall, great experience and safe place to live. We will miss living here! So quiet and homey!

I lived here for 3 years with NOT ONE problem. Aside from a few residents who refused to pick up…read moretheir dog poop- it was smooth sailing. Until move out time. They are trying to charge me over 1000.00 for carpet damage. To protect myself- I took a video of the entire apartment right after I finished my FOUR HOUR deep cleaning - including shampooing the carpet. The video shows no carpet damage. Definitely not over 1000.00 worth. The photos of the damages sent to me could not be seen unless the carpet was pulled up/ which of course I couldn't do. More importantly -Due to downsizing, I had "house" furniture in an apartment- meaning almost every inch of carpet ,aside from very minimal walking space , was covered with large furniture. There is no way MY family of 2 is responsible for damages that soaked through to the under padding in areas that was completely covered for 3 years by furniture... in areas we couldn't even walk let alone spill. The carpet was not new when we moved in, that was obvious based on the black lines (also in video and initial walk through checklist) that were present outside the 2nd bed and bath. Add another 3 years of my living there- and now I'm being charged for "new" carpet when I didn't even have new carpet upon move in OR make the damages to this one! I have secured legal representation due to these erroneous charges and threats to my credit. Hopefully the situation can be rectified expeditiously.

Our couch and dining room table ripped up 2 small corners got charged 25$ for those, charged to replace our carpets (400$) never even used one of our bedrooms, charged a 150$ cleaning fee that they automatically charge any tenant so save your money or time cleaning the apartment spent I mean days cleaning the walls floors EVERYTHING besides the stove. All the other charges I can agree on but to remove the carpet where our bed was for 400$ is a little much that's more than our full deposit when the 4 lines from our bed will remove in a few days I miss when shonda was the overall lady!!!! Shonda made moving in a breeze was so stress free!! Also our downstairs neighbors would complain on my 2 year old for being a 2 year old but their dogs would bark ALL NIGHT keeping us up, so thankful my first apartment experience is over I will NEVER do apartments again especially after this one. Our first neighbor was so nice our kids played together , the. We got some Karen's that moved hope they treat the new people better, also I would not pay 1600 for a 2bedroom 2bathroom when you can't walk on the sidewalks without dog shit being there or kids throwing rocks at vehicles. THEY NEED CAMERAS in the parking lot!!!!! Also our neighbors came at me and my 2 year old screaming at us with her husband, I called the office and they sounded annoyed by the situation and said next time call the cops we can't do anything about it.

The bars at the dog park are wide enough for medium sized to small dogs to get out so that is worthless. There was a car accident where the outer gate of the complex was damaged and has been sitting broken on the sidewalk for over 2 weeks untouched, rebar and cement blocking the walkway where kids get off the bus, real safety hazard. They charge a fee of 35 dollars for a trash valet service that is mandatory even if you don't use it which is stupid. Rent will be increased every time you renew even though the community has only gotten worse since I got here. The house across the street are loud and dirty with trash and debris often on the sidewalks including vodka bottles, cigarette butts, even half eaten chicken bones. The apartment looked unswept and unvaccuumed when we moved in. When the ice storm came there was nothing done to prevent ice on the sidewalks. Just overall not a great place to live and given another chance, I would live elsewhere.
