Really beautiful expansive views of the ocean. The Breeze is wonderful, there are benches to take a rest on and a dirt path to walk on. The residences in this area are equal to the view. There is a trailer park below which I found interesting. Upscale for a trailer park - it has a community pool. Anyways, it's a nice place to enjoy the sunset. Not over crowded and clean / safe.

I made a brief stop at Asilomar Park today for the first time. It was nice. You get a good view of the PCH, Santa Monica Mountains, and the coast.

Park is windy and has dirt swirling and it closes at SUNSET. The beach is so much better.

This is hardly a park. It's a strip of dirt and weeds along a neighborhood street. There are zero facilities and no grass.

Small. No grass. Dusty and dirty. Lots of doggy doo doo. Closes early. Bad times.

Tip: During the winter (when I went) you can find street parking along PCH. You can find some surf fisherman there as well.

So we go to YouTube to check out sunsets at Sunset Beach, and we saw a really pretty one, so we went! And weren't we surprised to find that the sun--in the middle of summer--sets pretty much exactly in the West (go figure), which from Sunset Beach, is over the mountains just beyond Malibu! LOL Anyway, it was still a nice getaway for the evening, and we had a relaxing evening on the beach with just a few beachgoers, and a bunch of seagulls who camped in a big circle around us, apparently approving of our choice of seats for the evening. The beach itself is nice and kept pretty clean. There are trash cans available all over the place, the lifeguards are on duty and appear to be vigilant, the parking is sufficient, but you do have to pay $5 for the day. We only saw one homeless guy, but he wasn't bothering anyone, and was just checking for recyclables in the trash cans. What more can I say about a public beach? Go! Enjoy the beach! Just check the map, or maybe head a little further South if you want a proper sunset in the summertime.

Although the experience is billed as "self-guided", during my visit a docent opened the slider to the home, allowing a better view inside, and discussed different aspects of the house with us in a very informal manner. The experience is mostly visual but if you have questions, ask away. I've no doubt the docents can answer anything you might wish to know about the Eames house and the Eames themselves. Walk the property and enjoy its natural beauty. Take a look at the map to reveal that the surrounding houses are (or were) case studies for other types of mid-century home designs. A visit to the Eames house (overseen by the Eames Foundation, advance reservations accepted), will likely take up no more than 45 minutes of your time but you'll feel like you've seen something unique and historical and forevermore you'll likely spot images of the immediately recognizable home in books and magazines allowing you to say "I've been there".
