I bike ride by this beach at least once a week. I find it to be easily accessible and the bike path goes right through the beach area and goes north to the end of the bike path at Will, Rogers Beach. This is an iconic beach because Will, Rogers was with the largest land holder in the area. Don't forget to go up to Will, Rogers State Park up on Sunset Boulevard. Now that the fire is over and they've reopened it's a iconic place to visit. read more

Will Rogers is a wonderful beach. And it's such a long beach with several different parking lots that even on the hottest of Los Angeles days you should have no problem finding a little spot on the sand all to yourself (though I will say if you're not their in the morning, there's a chance you might have to park along the street which isn't ideal. There are several snack shacks and restrooms scattered throughout the beach, but you can also obviously bring your own food (no glass!) so if you're on a budget, you can spend an entire day here for next to nothing. The beach itself is dog friendly, but on a leash. And it's also very family friendly. We came here with my 3 kids and everyone had a blast. I only wish I had dusted off my skimboard as the shoreline here would've been great for some of that before the beach got too crowded. In all, we spent about 5 hours here & only left because we had other things we needed to get to. I could've easily spent several more hours soaking up the sun. read more

COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This beach currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was here at this beach yesterday, I asked if they allowed pets onto the beach, and they do not allow pets onto the beach UNLESS it's a service animal. They will fine you if you do bring a pet onto the beach. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is massive, and it isn't free. During the summer, parking is $15 for the whole day. During the winter, parking is $9. Each parking spot is a bit small, so be careful where you park. They do take credit cards. No cash over $20 is accepted. Beach & Staff: The beach itself is very clean, neat, and tidy, The staff/lifeguards here are very kind, friendly, and chill. Delightful! What a beautiful summer experience we had. Despite the sadness of the incinerated former homes across PCH, Will Rogers State Beach was gorgeous, as it has always been. We had a very lovely time. It is so reassuring that the lifeguards are there. The restrooms are clean and our showers too. Water fountains. Plenty of parking: We paid $9 for parking for the (week) day - not bad! We came at best low tide and pitched it umbrella and Nesi so close to the surf-what a view. Porpoises entertained us for a while too! We waded, swam, boogie-boarded and napped on the beach. Will Roger State Beach has always been a favor of ours and it didn't let us down even post the fires. And all the best to those in Palisades who lost so much. They are so brave and we sent them our best . read more

I love going to the beach, this is one of the perks of living in LA. But we stayed away from any beach for months during the pandemic. The one we like to go has lots of people roaming the streets around which normally we like, it's fun and lively, near cafes and restaurants. But this year that wouldn't work. So, I did my research (Yelp included) and found Will Rogers State Beach. It's closer to the city, a plus and I read that it's not that crowded. Off we went, first time in a weekend. The beach is right off PCH in Pacific Palisades going up to Santa Monica. There are signs and a big parking lot. We paid $15 for the weekend day. Next time we went on a weekday, it was a tad cheaper $9. There are nice guys who work there and take the money from or the card. Very helpful, I paid cash. The beach is big, wide, clean. It's not crowded, like Zuma (before COVID was crazy), but there are people around. At least everyone stays away, preserving the social distancing. So, no one sat next to us, everyone respected the 6ft rule. You do hear music from people, but that's everywhere on a beach. The bathrooms are easy to find and some of the nicest and cleanest I've been inside - So Cal area. No crowds in there, plenty of toilet paper and soap. There's also a cafe if you get hungry, need a snack, a drink, a burger. Cute, lines aren't crazy. The beach is pretty nice, you can see the pier in Santa Monica in the distance. Depends where you situate yourself you might not see the shore, it's a tad strange, my only complaint. We've seen tiger sharks in the water (harmless) and dolphins further away swimming in the ocean. Also, plenty of pelicans. So, bring a snack, a drink, sun protective lotion and enjoy the cool beach where they shot "Baywatch" the TV show. For us it was a nice respite this summer and part of our staycation! read more

If you've ever got some mental/emotional stuff going on, I highly recommend a 6 mile, round-trip run/jog start from Will Rogers State Beach to the Santa Monica Pier (it's 3 miles from Will Rogers to SaMo Pier). Then afterwards, listen to the waves crash, watch the sunset and soak your feet/legs in the cool ocean water -feels amazing! Since the weather has been warmer lately, Will Rogers State Beach is a bit crowded. Although, fewer people than Venice and Santa Monica, in comparison though. Much less homeless folks around Will Rogers too. Has a snack bar, paid parking lot and NOTE: if you park along Temescal Canyon, it's free. Restrooms are decent -ladies room has about 4-5 stalls. Lifeguard on duty and people bring their dogs on this beach too. read more

03/17/2017 Heal the Bay beach clean-up on this wonderful Saturday. About 1100 people came to help clean this beach. Surprisingly enough, 3 car tires were brought back from different volunteers collecting trash. More than 300 pounds of trash had been collected. There were these two older ladies who reported something but did not pick up what they saw. Anything dangerous and/or sharp volunteers should not touch or pick up. So they reported a used condom in the parking lot nearby the Will Rogers State Beach sign. I wouldn't touch that neither. 01/18/2020 Coming back here with Heal the Bay, Nuthin' But Sand beach cleanup event once again. Volunteers have found vape devices in the sand. Still finding cigarette butts and styrofoam pieces. Two more car tires were found too. One was brought in to be included in the weight count. The other tire was being held hostage by the rocks as it is stuck underneath. That's how powerful the pounding surf could become. So be very careful climbing the rocks. Most of the trash found nearby the beach club nearby. There was a syringe found but was not recovered. read more

Great stretch of beach between Malibu and Santa Monica with a nice biking /walking/jogging path that leads you to Malibu or Santa Monica piers. Life guard stations that are usually manned and paid parking (around $10-$12 on weekdays to use the lot. Volleyball courts right next to parking lot and a set of restrooms and outdoor shower. Easy walking distance to nearby strip snack bars and restaurants or right across highway #1 is Patrick's Roadhouse serving a lot of grub. Plus a circle K also across from it. Also known as "Ginger Rogers" beach near lifeguard tower #18 so it's a mix of Families, couples and boy couples sunbathing but everyone is very nice and respectful. Nice because this part of the beach is also patrolled by the lifeguard, police and fire frequently. read more

Been coming here pre-Covid and during. It is my favorite spot because A. Easy to find parking. $5 on weekdays and $15 on weekends. B. Do not have to walk far and haul all our stuff. Our favorite beach! We come here at least once a week during the summer. The main reason is because lots of people don't know about this little gem. We pay for parking then drive all the way down to the end where there aren't that many people. It's always clean and groomed well. The sand is soft. Has a little swing set for the kids to play. The waves are always nice and mellow. Beach cafe to order food from. Ice cream man , fruit man, and another cart full of towels, chairs, boogie boards, and beach toys to purchase from. I've been to annenberg and santa monica pier. Nothing compares to Will Rogers. It's perfect. read more

The park entrance is perhaps the greatest failure in California civil engineering I have experienced in my 33 years living all over the state. Will Rogers State Beach is on a beautiful stretch of land and the water is relatively clean. However, getting into the paid parking lot is awful. When driving North into the lot(from Los Angeles) the single stop light works only sometimes... Family and I waited in the left hand turn line for 45 minutes. As several other cars left the line, we inched forward and noticed that the light for turning left was getting skipped every single cycle. This was incredibly frustrating, so we left the line, drove through the light and then made a super illegal u-turn to be able to enter via the South bound queue. Once in the gate, other vehicles started cutting in and backing up traffic. The staff at the entrance used their hands to direct cars and did not address any disgruntled park-visitors complaints verbally. When we arrived to pay, the 3 entry lines seemed to be using the same credit card reader in one of the kiosks. So, the staff here having nothing to work with, and are dealing with people who are already frustrated with a poorly functioning stop light. After finally getting into the parking, we drove for a quite a while to meet our friends, and everything was great after that. I guess, I am just curious why there are not a) multiple entries for such a long parking(must be at least 1 mile long) and b) multiple card reads here LOL. The current (single) entrance encourages unsafe driving behavior and creates bad vibes for the poor staff to deal with. Please do better California read more

Although I was never a fan of, "Baywatch"; I realize that it was a pop-culture highlight for many folks. If you were a fan of the show and curious about where many scenes were filmed... then search no further: Will Rogers Beach. Will Rogers Beach, located in between Santa Monica and closer to the Pacific Palisades border off the PCH; is named after the famous actor due to his late-wife donating acres of land to the state of California. How does this beach stack up? Will Rogers beach pops up a few miles away from the tourist epicenter of the Santa Monica Pier and the post-card views that the tourists eat up. Rather, Will Rogers Beach is 3 miles of ocean front but mostly in a sandy setting with a few volleyball nets, lifeguard stands, and a small cafe/bathroom area. Basically it is a a flat area with not "much to see". There IS a rocky alcove-jetty perfect for walking out on especially while the waves are crashing on the rocks; but that's about it. That being said, Will Rogers Beach is perfect for a jog, stroll, or a more relaxing visit to the ocean that eschews the huge crowds of people. If you have social anxiety or just prefer to be at a lesser-populated beach; then Will Rogers is perfect for you. Another highlight? This beach is very clean. There isn't any trash piled up, human effects like graffiti, or too many birds (if you aren't a fan of sea gulls, then you will prefer this). This adds to the relaxing and "get-away"-feeling of Will Rogers. I suggest going to Will Rogers Beach at sunset. The colors and sunset are remarkable and your photo-taking skills will be amplified perfect for a photoshoot or social media. Even despite being a 'bland' beach, Will Rogers Beach can still take your breath away. Parking is available in a large lot immediately on the beach. I am unsure if it varies with the season but it was $4/car during February. Will Rogers isn't a fancy-schmancy beach and honestly there isn't too much to say about it. However, it is a nice respite for those wanting to spend some time listening to the ocean instead of listening to tourists. Will Rogers is a solid choice for a beach visit. read more

It's my home beach because of its magnificent view of the SM mountains, Malibu and the Pacific Ocean. Will Rogers State Beach is a beach park on the Santa Monica Bay, at the Pacific coast of Southern California. Located in Pacific Palisades, the beach is owned by the California Department of Parks and Recreation; however, it is managed and maintained by the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors. It's one and three-quarters mile along the shore. The beach features swimming and skin diving. Facilities include volleyball courts, playground, as well as a bike path and walkway. Furthermore, a number of movies and TV shows have been filmed at this beach. I have seen a couple of movie celebrities in the past few years. Anyway, the beach has a whitish sand and is well kept by the state parks staff. Plenty of trash bins. Similarly, a plethora of life guard tower stations with on duty life guards. Parking lots are available for a fee. I avoid parking on a certain lot because of fear of being carjacked. Overall, I always enjoyed going to this beach and I highly recommend you go visit. read more

This is my second favorite beach in LA. El matador is number one, but lemme tell you about A beauty! The beach is much cleaner than Venice and Santa Monica. Crowded on weekends, but that is any beach. Parking lots along the beach that cost $$ or find parking somewhere along one of the streets off the PCH. The waves at this beach are not for surfing or body boarding! Go to deeper into Malibu if you want that. The waves are light and breezy, perfect for swimming. Food?! I believe there is a snack bar somewhere. I'd recommend bringing your own food. There's a grocery store right on the PCH at Sunset. No dogs allowed, as far as I know, but people being em anyway. Bring your dog at your own risk. Crowd is your usual beach crowd. Families, parties, young folk, old, tourists, locals, everyone. read more

I came here on a Friday! Parking costs $9 flat. It's not that crowded, plenty of parking spaces. I loved here since it's really chill and quiet! It's a little bit farer than Santa Monica beach, but it's much less people here. You may enjoy the sunshine, the sand and the ocean with your friends or families. Not a huge fan of this beach in terms of toddler friendliness. It's a nice big clean beach, running parallel along the PCH between Santa Monica and Malibu. Pretty busy during the weekday with middle class white moms and kids, as well as tourists. However, spots that include restrooms aren't marked well. Plenty of parking and it's around $9 cash for the day. There are slopes which go from the parking lot to the beach (good for carts and strollers), however I found the beach at the bottom of Temecula a bit dangerous for little ones. When the tide is in, the beach bank is super steep and the water deep. Def not safe for toddlers; you'd probably want a flatter beach with baby waves. read more

Great beach. Immediately off the bike path & PCH it has tons of parking and a large pay lot. It's nice & wide but not too wide, like parts of Santa Monica where you have to walk a ways to get close to the shoreline. There's a small cafe right at the base of Temescal Canyon and also restrooms. It's wheel chair accessible as well. They installed a ramp and they lay down these large blue pieces of plastic in a T shape from the base of the ramp out into the sand. You can wheel strollers, bicycles, wheel chairs or coolers on these and it prevents sinking into the sand. We usually hit the beach after a lengthy bike ride so it's nice not to have to haul the bike through the sand. Although I will say I've been seeing these floating walkways at a lot of the beaches in SoCal. This beach also has 2 lifeguard stands- typically one is manned so if you have kids at least you know there's another set of eyes. Although not the most scenic beach in Los Angeles, it's still lovely. I wish they'd remove the ugly chain link fence near the lifeguard station by the jetties but I think it's a precautionary fence used as a deterrent for boneheads falling onto the jetty below. Another reason I love this beach is it's great for photos. We did our holiday card portraits here and in fall, there was hardly anyone here. With the Santa Monica mountains as a backdrop it's quite a view. Great beach. read more

This beach is located along PCH, where Temescal Canyon Road emds. Parking is plenty within the lots, but can also be found up and down TCR. Be sure to get here early, as weekends and holidays make it a bit harder to find a close spot. This place served as my starting point for my long sand runs back in the day. This route was my weekend training before I joined the military. If endurance is your game, the sand runs at this beach will definitely get you fit. This beach is also a good spot to chill. Just bring your favorite blanket, and enjoy the California sun. Keep this beach clean, and keep it classy. read more
