Ok so the cats out of the bag... I've told you all about SBD and now here's my review of it's partner in crime found about two blocks over, Ashur Liquor. It's a little known secret that Imperial Beach houses two liquor stores that easily send BevMo running for the cellar. The first being South Bay Drug and Liquor, an easy find as it's placed right off Palm Avenue where you can find a wide selection of local micros and limited edition domestic runs. The second is Ashur Liquor, a little more hidden but what South Bay Drug is to locals, Ashur is to the Euro/Belgian variety. Nestled behind a Carls Jr. on the South side of Palm Ave, Ashur carries it's share of glassware, T-shirts, the above mentioned Belgiums, Trappists, and they even sport their own humidor chock full of cigars. From Micro to Macro brews you'll be sure to find it at Ashur (or SBD). Just don't come in hoping to ask for advice, the guys behind the counter seem to better educated in the realm of spirits than in beer. None the less, you can't help but appreciate the full wall fridge + 2nd refrigerated aisle of craft bombers and an additional corner for macros that Ashur dedicates to their beer loving patrons. Great beer selection and friendly staff. They always have the hard to find stuff, and good prices too.

I'm a hard cider lover and this seems to be about the only liquor store in IB that has such a large variety of craft beers and ciders. My preference is Ace Joker and when I mentioned to Johnny that I specifically go there for that cider, he makes sure to keep up the stock! You may be hard pressed to visit and not find what you like. But even if you don't find exactly what you're looking for, they'll be happy to recommend something similar or even make sure they order it in the future. There are a lot of loyal customers here for a reason! Their selection of craft beer "tall boys" is far above what I have seen in any other liquor store here in IB. Also, you should check out their Instagram page, as they've started hosting craft beer tastings. They had a Ballast Point tasting the other day and if you bought a six pack, you got a free tumbler, koozie, bottle opener, and a t-shirt! read more

Best selection for craft beer and liquor. Great attentive staff that treats you like family. Christmas family, not thanks giving family haha read more

How do you do a review on a liquor store? There just as much liquor stores in IB as there are 7/11's and taco shops here. You've been to one there all pretty much the same. Middle eastern owned young kids behind the cash register. And there always talking on their phone in Arabic. Also all liquor store owners use the famous phrase is thank you buddy. But ok I'll give it a shot. The store was clean had a section of craft, IPA beers, regular common malt liquors, hard liquor and cigarettes ect. Yeah well that's all I got not much to review. Overall the kid was helpful, store was clean and I got what I needed and dipped out. Thanks and as always thank you for reading my reviews. Take care and happy yelping y'all read more

This store has one of the best selections of imported and craft beer I've ever seen. The liquor selection is also great. Love the fact that is only a short drive from the pad... read more

I was on a hunt for Bundaberg Ginger Beer for Moscow Mules when I stumbled upon this place. Great find!!! The guy at the counter pointed me in the direction of the ginger beer, and after I found it I proceeded to admire their craft beer selection. When I didn't return to the counter right away, he asked to make sure I found it, and I told him I got distracted by the beer! So I will definitely be returning to this place for more ginger beer and to restock on beer! Nice dude working, great selection of beer, wine, and liquor. read more

This place has a great selection of craft beer, imports and everything. There are rare beers, a bunch of local brews and all the usual suspects. The Stone Delicious IPA is always fresh. (You should try it, but save me a six pack.) And, Albert and everyone who works there is super cool. They are great people. read more

Seriously! Who would have expected to find a good source for craft beers in a strip mall! These folks care about their beer. They know their product and their customers. If you don't see what you are looking for then ask them- they'll see if they can get it in. Always friendly and always have a great selection. read more
