I have bought furniture from Ashley's for years and I will never buy from that store in Arden again. I went in for a new living room set and I was dealing with Robbie to find the right set. We had found the right fit for what I needed and I was ready to make the purchases and I stated I did not want the warranty and he said the price would go up if I didn't purchase the warranty. I asked if could take some off the price and he instantly got up and said "I'm going to go see if I could help someone other customers." If I could give customer service a zero rating, I would. I was in the store earlier looking for a few specific items. Not one salesperson asked if they could help until after I had walked through the entire store and was on my way out the door. A gentleman, whose name I believe is Joe, asked if anyone had greeted me when I walked in. I told him no, and he was very apologetic, saying that if he could be of any service to let him know. I told him I would be back later with my husband and that I had taken a few pictures of some items. So now I'm actually sitting in the parking lot of the store writing this review. My husband and I went in, and not one person asked if they could help us. We walked through the store; I showed him some things I had seen earlier, and as we were leaving, not one person said a word to us, not even "thanks for coming by." I appreciate Joe/John for making an effort earlier this afternoon, and I will be sure to ask for him if I ever go back again. Don't do it. Wish I read reviews before buying, so kudos to you! My experience: bought a $4,000 power reclining sofa, got a free live Norway rat included with delivery! Spent basically an entire day for them to take any responsibility - which ended up being that they agreed to send a new couch and told me they don't want their rat infested couch back. Insane. Complained to the store manager about the situation - Chris Morrell - he basically is a robot with all the concern and empathy he had for my problem (meaning - monotone factual tone with very little care) - pretty alarming. Told me to talk to their customer service and that was it. Not even an apology. Don't give your money to a place with such poor ethics and customer service. Way better places out there. read more

Pleasant shopping experience. Salespeople obviously on commission as they follow you around the store like a puppy looking for a treat. Schooled well in "Ashley Selling". They repeat the same lines over and over. "We make all our own furniture" "There are no middlemen". "We can give credit same as cash for 12 months" and on and on. Once through with the programmed lines, they repeat them. I guess they're hoping to wear you down. Then there's the other salesperson's "testimonial" that they own that exact same piece and they've been happy with it for years. They do have very reasonably priced merchandise in the store. This is not a customer's always right store. Firstly the salesperson who sold me the furniture refused to give me prices upfront and he said the more furniture I bought the bigger the sale. I find out later I paid 100 dollars more than what they were selling online. But more importantly, they don't allow returns for most mattresses. And when they mess up, like deliver something that's not correct or faulty, they don't go the extra mile to make your happy at the end of the day. read more

We spent several thousand dollars here when we bought our new house. We ordered two chairs which were supposed to be delivered in 4 weeks. 8 weeks later (and after taking full payment) they have no idea when they will be delivered, who to talk to about the delivery and don't seem to care. We also bought 3 consoles. Two were off the showroom floor and one was sent from the factory. The factory console was defective and was taken back and another one was shipped. When it arrived, it was in a box and the crew refused to assemble it. I told them I was concerned that it was defective and wanted to inspect it. They refused and left. Later that day, I assembled it and it was defective! I called customer (no-) service and the store. They were rude and helpless. Still no resolution with the chairs or the table. PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING FROM ARDEN LOCATION. We purchased our couch a year and a half ago. Upon purchasing (true story) we were told by the store manager due to a shortage of cow hides (because restaurants aren't killing enough cows) we wouldn't receive our couch for at least a few months. Once we received our couch it was great for a short period of time. NOW, the couch cushion AND springs have completely flattened out and we cannot sit on it for more than 45 mins without having some type of lower back pain. I called customer service and explained the issue we are having, considering we only had the couch for a year and a half. They explained the couch only had a one year warranty and that we did not purchase the 5 year warranty and if we wanted it fixed that they would happily recommend a place for us to pay to have it repaired. Do not use this store!! They do not take responsibility for their mistakes!We bought a 5000.00 mattress. TJ the salesman who sold us this mattress told us our old mattress would be taken away when they delivered the new one. When they delivered it they refused to take our old mattress and was going to leave the new one in the garage. We had to make them help us to bring the new mattress in the house and put the old one in the garage. We talked to the manager who said basically the removal of the old mattress was not put on the receipt that TJ filled out. So nothing he can do it was TJ fault. However TJ is his employee his responsibility since he is the manager. Apparently no one takes responsibility for anything in that store. Manager gave us some phone numbers to call to have it removed. Now we have to take another day off work to get it removed and do all the leg work. This was reason we bought the mattress there so we didn't have to worry about disposal the old one. The manager said if we brought in the receipt he would reimburse us. We will see if that happens. We called corporate who was no help saying it was the manager's responsibility. Who do you talk to when no one is responsible? I will update when we take the receipt in to get reimbursed. While the customer service in store was great the furniture that was delivered was not the same quality that was delivered. I could have bought the same poor quality furniture at Big Lots. Bought the extended best warranty they have took over two months to get an appointment for a technician to come out. The man said the issue was common and parts and pieces had to be ordered. Random pieces have been arriving my house. I called Ashley to see when they might be coming back out to fix the problem and first available appointment will be late May. This is ridiculous!! Horrible experience. Rickey the salesperson made the sale by lying about delivery dates and product availability. He promised me a delivery of the following Friday. In reality it was 3 weeks to get the couch and at least a 3 month wait for the table. When they finally did deliver the couch, it came without the cushion for the chaise. I was assured that would be sent to me promptly. I received a box of stuffing and a pillow case to put the pillow together myself after spending over $2000 on this furniture. Customer service from the phone and from the store manager Chris were poor at best. There are so many other options for furniture in Asheville- avoid the dumpster fire that is Ashley Furniture at all costs. The absolute worst customer service experience I have ever had. read more

It turns out they delivered Nov 12 without informing me . I was not there, though I could have been. . and now the process of getting my order starts all over again. Meanwhile they have had my money for all these months. If you are going to order custom furniture you expect a long wait time. In Covid you expect some delay. Thankfully walked out and checked facts before purchase. Found living room set and talked with salesperson regarding pricing. After talking with his manager,the salesperson came back with a much higher price because "the sale price shown on the floor was not accurate". After leaving the store, received a call that they would honor the price even though the sale was no longer active, but the price was still higher than previously discussed. Pushed that they were doing us a favor with the price. Checking the price online before going back, the sale price was indeed active, but it should have applied to the couch, loveseat and chair and they only ever offered the couch. I attempted to call the salesperson and explain why I was taking my business elsewhere but he nevertheless answered or returned my call. This has been the WORST experience I have ever had buying furniture. I paid in full the day I bought my pub set. Set up the delivery date. No one ever came. They SAID they tried to call because they couldn't find my address. Btw my house is right on a main road. The only number that called during my three hour window was a South Carolina number that didn't even leave a voicemail. I would give this store minus stars if I could. I my entire house with Ashley Furniture and purchase extended warranties on the bedroom and living room furniture. When I put in a claim through GBS warranty company they denied the claim giving me reason after reason as to why. I went into the Ashley Home Store for some help, but that was a wasted trip. The manager and sales person said to contact Ashley Customer Service. When I did I was told to contact the warranty company. Here we go again. Even though the managers in the store looked at the pictures and said it should be covered I cannot get the service I paid for. I asked for a refund of the money I paid since they will not cover the problem. Again Ashley said to contact the warranty company. I was told I could get a prorated refund, but they had to way to tell me how much it would be and it would take several months. This is stupid! My purchase experience at Ashley Homestore was excellent. Everything afterward was terrible. I literally cried multiple times due to terrible customer service and delivery. Delivery team ruined my carpets, did not install 16 handles (come to find out they are not contracted to!) and damaged my furniture significantly. I spent $1600 on a bedroom set and all the corners are peeling and cardboard stapled to back of dresser is gaping. Edges are rough, scuffs are present, the feet are literally coming apart. I am missing an entire board on the bottom of my headboard, leaving a large gap. I have had the set for FOUR days and customer care refuses to do anything. I did receive a $160 dollar gift card due to my carpets being ruined on my first call, but that was it. I was told too bad you have to tell us while the delivery folks are still there. Okay, I understand that's apparently the policy but here's the deal: Ashley's planned my delivery for a Saturday where I had a sitter, then cancelled with less than 24 hours notice (I contacted them because I had not received my email with time window and to my surprise I was then told it had been delayed the evening before) and came out on Tuesday instead. This was after waiting for nearly 7 weeks. I had no problem waiting, my salesman was very clear about the wait, that was not the issue. The delivery crew actually had me in tears they were so incredibly rude among the other issues. I did not have a sitter. Saturday was the first day my children have not been home where I could inspect the furniture meticulously. It has been 4 days. The delivery crew did not speak English and therefore it was very difficult to communicate what was happening. He shoved the phone at me to sign with no explanation of what I was signing. I have spent the last 4 days having my carpets cleaned, hiring someone to put on 16 pieces of hardware that weren't installed, and spending countless hours on the phone with customer care about the delivery. I would believe with such an experience a 2 day extension would be reasonably granted. After the online agent told me multiple times he could not help me, I asked one more time before signing off if he could please send me the rest of my bed (missing board) so that my toddler would not fall through. He finally checked into this and said he would have it shipped in a few weeks. Overall, extremely dissatisfied with purchase. This review has nothing too to with the employees of the store but the delivery service used. Numerous times now stuff has been delivered and repeated attempts to stop the delivery drivers to not attempt coming up our driveway falls on deaf ears. Today was the final straw as I received the call from the delivery driver who said he was ten minutes away I said to him ok please stop at the bottom of my driveway to avoid spinning and digging ruts in my driveway or getting stuck. Well here he comes flying up the driveway spinning and digging until he gets to the top and exits the truck my wife says we clearly told you to not come up and destroy the driveway and his reply was sorry but it made it up. Well ok then sorry fixes it the holes just vanish disappear. After the piece is unloaded and a document has to be signed the overwhelming odor of marijuana would knock you down. I bought a whole room of living room furniture. First the delivery truck did damage to my yard. The large living room chair was damaged and had to be sent back. Lastly, the two soda and easy chairs did not have the padding, softness,nor comfort the floor models had. I really feel the floor models were nice but I got a much cheaper set. My family cannot thank Cheryl enough for the time and energy she spent helping us find perfect, comfortable & affordable furniture for our father. Our situation was somewhat unique in that I live in Los Angeles and my brother was in the middle of a move from Atlanta to Asheville. As a result of my brother's new job in Asheville, we had to move our father from an assisted living facility in Atlanta into another facility in Asheville - and we realized it would be less expensive to buy new furniture than have a moving company bring his bigger pieces from Atlanta. I called the store from LA and was lucky - Cheryl answered the call and was amazingly helpful. I explained our situation to her and she was not only helpful, she was kind, compassionate and empathetic about our circumstances. She was conscientious of our budget - and we also had some difficult circumstances with the timing of the delivery so our dad would have a bed when he arrived to his new home. Cheryl had to go back into the system multiple times to change the order (long story), had to personally work on our behalf to push the delivery date up and then rolled with the punches when our order wasn't as big as originally anticipated. She spoke to my brother and me during off hours (by giving us her cell phone number) and made herself available to us on her days off as well. My brother and I both decided that if the people in Asheville were as nice as Cheryl Hunt from the Ashley Home Store is ... then they were going to love living there. She truly went so far above and beyond what we expected, it was amazing. The personal touch to the customer care experience just doesn't feel like it exists any more in this day & age -- but Cheryl proved that wrong. Nothing but 5 stars! My new place needed to find some beautiful things to decorate, so when I saw that Ashley Furniture was having a sale, so I thought to check it out. Super happy I did! I had a lovely sales lady assist me, who I later found out was one of the store managers...(Jennifer Hillyer) She had the most pleasant demeanor.,....I felt like I was shopping with a friend. Who wants someone standing over them with a clipboard ready to make a sale? I told her what I was looking to achieve price wise, and we walked the store together to see what we could find. You expect reps to be knowledgable and friendly, but this was different. It was such a pleasure! Let me get this out of the way right off the bat. The actual store is good. The employees are nice when you go in to look at the furniture and really assist in making that commissioned sale. That's where the customer service STOPS. This is going to be a little long but trust me, its relevant to YOU. Just follow along and ill try and be brief as possible. This is the 2nd time we have ordered from Ashley. 1st time was furniture. Set a delivery date which was around a month out. When the time came... delivery delay. Ok that was annoying but it happens. Furniture came... damaged. They said they would mail parts and send someone out. They did. They sent the wrong parts.... not once... but TWICE. Now we have the aparently correct parts sitting in our closet because we dont want to have to take time off for the wrong parts... Fast Forward a year. We go in and buy 2 grand worth of entertainment center and end tables. Delivery postponed again... then on the morning of delivery we get a call saying.. truck is 15 mins away... oh btw we only have the sides of your entertainment center and some lamps. At this point we had already disassembled everything for the install the night before. Living room was a mess. I am trying to talk to the customer service lady and all she keeps telling me is.... stuff like this happens you signed and agreed in your TOS. Whatever.. they arrive with the 2 sides and some lamps. Guess what... entire side of one of the pillars was cracked. A large footprint on the inside where someone obviously just kicked it or walked on it when putting together. Again.. customer service just emotionless robots. I am not exaggerating here nor am I being dramatic.. robots. We tell them we dont want it, we dont want the rest of the order. They tell us they are going to charge us a 10% restocking fee and charge us to come pick it up. If we want to take it back ourselves we have to drive it to their warehouse 3 1/2 hours away. Even though we don't have all of the stuff... we still have to pay the restock fee on those pieces. They told us we had 3 days to cancel our order without penalty... 3 days from the time we ordered..... which was a month before it was delivered. How are we as customers suppose to know its going to be beaten down and broken before its delivered. So OK fine. Charge me but come get your crap. They set 3 different times over the course of a month and half and no call no showed TWICE. We took 2 days of time off work and couldn't even be bothered with a call. Finally they came and got it. In the meantime no money has been refunded to this day... Over 2 months after the order and after we told them we didnt want there abused furnishings. Contacting the in store rep was pointless. Her name was Jennifer Hilyer and she was extremely pleasant when we were buying... now you can't even get through to her and I have only tried calling twice. Its not like I have been blowing them up wanting my money. I have emailed 3 times and have gotten short responses and "ill see what I can do" type replies. There are so many more stories like these about Ashley. Do your research and know that if you have a problem you are STUCK wit hit because they will not bend their TOS to help you and they will not waive that restocking fee. I promise no matter how much you think you will go off on someone and you think you can put pressure on them they will not do it. I am not normally someone who would leave a bad review, but I feel like I need to let others know this. I bought 2 lamps from Ashley's on 4/1 and because they were floor models, I had to order them and have them delivered. The salesperson said that I could not have them delivered to the store for pickup, so I decided to have them delivered by UPS to my work. On 4/19, they were sitting at the top of my steps at home. I am glad that they were not stolen, but when I opened them one was broken and the other had a crack in it. I assumed they were probably dropped. I called the store to speak to my salesperson (who is a manager) and she had left for the day. They told me to call back in the morning. I called Saturday morning and got a Customer Service person and my salesperson was with clients. She asked what the situation was and I told her. She said no problem, just bring them back to the store and they would refund my payment. I was really pleased that they were making my disappointment from the broken lamps better. But I was too quick to think that. So, Sat. morning I took them to the store. They immediately said, oh, we can not take them back here. I talked to my salesperson and she called the corporate office. Even though there is a UPS drop off right across the parking lot, they were unwilling to run the paperwork and return them for me or call UPS and have them picked up from them. Instead, I had to reload them in my car and wait for a call and paperwork to return them myself. It is mid-morning Monday and no call yet. When I bought the lamps, I had trouble finding someone to talk to about them and when I finally found a salesman who agreed to come look at them with me, he seemed eager to get away, I guess since I was just buying lamps, even though I said that I would be looking at couches and recliner chairs soon. I feel like Ashley's let me down as a customer in not being willing to go the extra step and do something quite simple by returning the lamps or having them picked up there for me. After having to reschedule the delivery of our table (2 weeks after the purchase) and having to find someone to come to my house,because they can't deliver on a day when we are home, they didn't have the hardware to assemble the table. This agreement is written with one purpose; protect Ashley Homestore and shaft the customer!!! Notice the section to be signed by the employee that states, "I have fully reviewed the sales order terms and conditions with the customer." More than likely your sales associate WILL NOT review this agreement with you. If your sales person is like ours, they will tell you it's a normal agreement. I have been in retail management for years and trust me, this form IS NOT normal! 2. DO NOT ACCEPT A PARTIAL DELIVERY! Once they have delivered items...you are stuck! You'll understand why as you read further in this review! 3. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO OTHER CUSTOMER REVIEWS! The complaints are very similar. so as the Good Book (Bible) states; in the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established! 4. KEEP COPIES AND DOCUMENTATION OF ALL COMMUNICATION between you and Ashley Homestore. (Thankfully I did this). Fast forward to our delivery date and keep in mind that I had communicated to Judy and Betsy multiple times concerning our drive and needing a small truck. I was at work and I received a call from my wife that the delivery was there and they were in a 24ft truck! Even though they were in a 24ft truck, they still could have gotten up our hill, we did when we moved in. In addition the owner of our property was trying to coach them on how to get up the hill...they REFUSED TO EVEN TRY! I had to close my store for 2 hours and go help move each item piece by piece in my Nissan Frontier! Needless to say I was not happy; so I called Judy and received a return call! Finally I called corporate office and tried to reason with them. Spoke with Alex and finally told him to cancel the rest of my order and to come pick up what had been delivered. Well, needless to say it was not long until I received a call from Judy. Apologizing and promising that they would refund my delivery. She assured me that We would receive our couch on Oct 31. Fast forward to Oct 29 I receive a call from Heather (still have the voicemail) stating that our sofa would not be delivered due to the small truck being in the shop. I called back and spoke with Jennifer, she said Heather was not there. I asked to speak with Judy and Jennifer said that Judy was with a customer. I asked Jennifer if she could take my name and number and have Judy give me a call; Jennifer said that she didn't need to take my info, she's sure Judy had it! Well guess what? I never received a call back from Judy. I called Judy's cell phone and sent her a text (still have copies) and still no response. After reaching out to the Arden store no less then 4 times within a 18 hour period, I decided to call corporate again. On Oct 30 @ 12:10 pm I spoke with Tisha. She said that our sofa had not been received in the warehouse. I told her about the voicemail from Heather stating that the truck was in the warehouse. I asked to speak to a supervisor or a Regional Manger, she refused! A few minutes later I call corporate again and speak with Janice, she too refuses to allow me to talk with a supervisor!! I tell them to cancel my order. After requesting again to cancel my order, I then receive another call from Heather (still have the voicemail) this time she says the truck is not available. Fast forward to Oct 31 I finally make contact with Judy (not because she called me, but because I called the store again!) Judy tells me that the distribution center accidentally canceled my delivery and that is why we would not receive our sofa! So....was the truck broke down; not available; had the sofa not reached the distribution center; or did the distribution center cancel my delivery date? WHICH LIE IS IT???? Judy again apologized and asked if I would give her until Nov 1st and she would get back with me. She said that she would get my complete delivery fee refunded to my credit card. Sorry to say that Nov 1 came and went and I never heard from Judy. I did finally receive an email from Pamela Deluca (current General Manager) stating she had credited my delivery fee; however she only credited half of it. As of today I have not received any further communication from Ashley Homestore! of the contract) they will charge you a 10% fee!!! I bought around $3,000 dollars worth of furniture on the 9/5/2015. My sales associate (Eric Smith) was extremely polite and helpful. We put down a chunk of money and financed the rest. All was great up to that point. Fast forward to the expected delivery date. Was contacted twice to confirm my delivery date and time. My girlfriend and I waited all day for our furniture to show up only for a no call no show. I spent the next three hours on the phone with the 6 different people from the store and the warehouse and was not able to completely ascertain the reason for the no call and no show of our furniture. Everyone I spoke with was polite and professional but could not answer my questions. Needless to say, I was pretty concerned and annoyed. Here is where the story turns around. I went into the store the next day and talked to the store manager (Joe Smith) and to the regional manager. They were exceptional and were both concerned about the events that took place. They fairly compensated me for my time and assured me that it would be looked into at a higher level of management. Even though I did not receive my furniture in the time frame that I had wanted I would still consider this a win for Ashley furniture and their customer service skills. Nobody that I talked to in the store had any direct involvement in the error that occurred but they all took on the personal responsibility of it happening. Something like that, I would suggest, is rare in a national chain and it should be applauded and welcomed by customers. I will definitely be bringing my business back to them and would recommend others to do the same with an open mind that sometimes businesses make mistakes. This one seems to try their hardest to avoid them but when mine occurred, they rectified it to the best of their ability. Bravo! Update: They postponed my delivery THREE MORE TIMES at the warehouse. Not sure how much I can blame on the office staff though. Will not be buying from them again. read more

My story is simple. My wife fell in love with a particular chair at Ashley. I showed it to salesman Erik and asked if he could hold it for us for one day. Erik hesitated, then said yes. We came back the next day to buy it, and it was gone. In fact, I was told that Erik was the salesman who sold it to someone else. When I became upset with him and used a bad word, he said I was a bad human or something, but he apparently thought he was a fine human because he never felt the need to apologize for what he did. The manager did apologize and offered to give me 50% off anything. But it didn't help because most of their stuff seems to be cheaply made, I no longer trusted them at all, and they no longer had the only item I wanted to buy for my wife. I just bought an expensive tempurpedic mattress that was delivered one week ago. I paid to have mattress and box spring removed from old bed. Delivery guys left and didn't even say they were leaving. They didn't take the mattress and box spring. They lied and said it was wet. I've spoken to customer service and my salesman and I was promised it would be picked up by last Saturday. It's over a week now- not a word about it being picked up. It needs picked up and I need a firm plan. If I can't get this done as promised and I paid for I want my new mattress picked up and I will buy one somewhere else. I have a 90 Day guarantee. I would think long and hard before making a purchase from Ashley Furniture. They are very poor when it comes to customer follow-up. Delivery is TERRIBLE! Their promises are worth nothing. Be sure and read the Sales Order Terms and Conditions very closely before signing. When signing the Terms and Conditions, keep in mind that Ashley will enforce their policies EVEN IF they do not keep their promises!!! Had a good sales experience at the store on the 4th of July and got a great deal on a couch. Thank you Bill Wright but this is where my "Warm Fuzzies" stopped as the delivery was the worst I have ever experienced in my entire adult life. First attempt was a No Show, No Call which was very unprofessional and unacceptable. Not once did anyone try to reach out and apologize and explain the situation. I finally received delivery of my couch 23 days after I purchased it, again with no apologies or explanations. I always try to purchase items locally and I told Bill at the time of sale that I would also be purchasing a recliner in the next week or so. After the above experience, I purchased elsewhere and received one day, no charge delivery. It is highly unlikely that I will ever be coming back to do any further business. Do NOT order from the Arden NC store. They will promise lots up front but when it comes time to deliver (2 months later) customer service is horrible (can't deliver our furniture). The manager of course promised he would email me and fix everything... never happened. Go to Wayfair for quicker delivery and customer service that cares. read more

I say do not trust this store unless you want to feel used. I've purchase from another Ashleys before in Florida and I have never felt taken advantage of before. We were in the market for a couch and a mattress. We moved from Florida (where our furniture got destroyed from the hurricane) so we needed to purchase just the essentials a mattress and a couch. We purchased our couch and needed some financial assistance with the mattress but didn't want to get our credit ran (we were planning on buying a home). Let me add that I have a $6000 credit line with a company affiliated with Ashelys but since this is owned by a private owner I would have to run my credit again. So they gave us the same as cash option. I guess the sales associate, name begins with a K, wanted a sale especially since it was a holiday weekend sent us over to another dept for the same as cash option. The person seemed flustered and out of this world but since we have been shopping around we just made the decision to purchase. 3 months later which is 90 days later, we purchased $790 and made 3 $160 payments and our balance is still $720. Something looks wrong.... I contacted the person from the dept and apparently we are RENTING our mattress and the payments are for RENT! a nominal amount is going towards the principle. We look at our paperwork and NO WHERE does it state the word RENT! The person on the phone said they were suppose to explain it in detail which the dumb, lazy broad who signed us up didn't and the sales person obviously wasn't looking out for us which is sad especially since we purchased from her before. I WILL NEVER TRUST THIS STORE AGAIN. They just want to make a sale anyway they can. I feel super mislead. The customer service is awful and they are not genuine people. I've worked in customer service and would never in my life not explain what service I'm offering without honesty. read more
