Have you ever been somewhere you could tell that no one, not the owner, not the manager, not the workers, cared? I have and it's called the Ashley Inn. We arrived after an 11 hour driver to be told they weren't expecting us. My wife informed the employee/owner(?) that was unacceptable since she had called 3 times over the course of a year to confirm the inn had the correct info. Each time she called she tried to give the clerk our credit card number to "lock in" the reservation. And each time was told "don't worry, your in the book." So fortunately they had a room but we had to wait a 1/2 hour while they "cleaned" the room (Ha)! And you can imagine how pleased we were to wait after 11 hours on the road. Later during our stay our room key (yup a real key) wouldn't unlock our room. So we called the phone number at check in (no one was ever at the front desk) and informed the employee who came out in pajama bottoms and bare foot. He jiggled the key around till he got it open while saying, "I don't think these locks have been changed since the 70's". And that was it. No solution to the bad lock. Just jiggle the key. With regards to cleanliness take a look at the pics. IT WAS DISGUSTING! Everything I touched made me feel like I needed to wash my hands. We will NEVER stay here again.
