Ruby and Fallon were wonderful, showing a true love of the sea and answering our many questions about landmarks, currents and wildlife as we sailed out on the bay. After a previous experience with another funeral home where everything felt urgent, this was completely different. The atmosphere here was serene, welcoming, and allowed us the space to breathe, ask questions, and make decisions with care. We genuinely felt supported every step of the way. Because of this experience, I now feel inspired to plan my own arrangements ahead of time so my family can focus on grieving and being together, rather than navigating logistics during such a painful time. They were amazing as I navigated through last minute, challenging complications with my mom's remains leading up to her burial.... and they didn't even handle her or cremate her when she passed (an East Bay mortuary did). They truly went above and beyond even coming to pick up my moms remains at my home and finding a way to ensure it would arrive safely close to her burial site since I could not take her on a plane with her urn. They were kind, compassionate, professional, thorough, and go above and beyond at a time when it's really needed. Thank you Eugene, in particular!

This time I had a bit of time to prepare as we had to make decision to end life support. I went down to make the preparations and the young woman was great. Frank was also there so I just told him how much I appreciated their service over the years. Again no pressure tactics to buy a certain kind of urn/casket etc. We were returning him to the Bay, so she helped me with the certification I needed from SFDPH which I needed to provide to the vessel we were taking out to the Bay. I thought I might have to pay a deposit and then when the body was received the rest. No, everything is paid once they received the body. When the time came, I called them. The hospital requested to see if they could pick up the body within 4 hours, but they do charge extra. So Kaiser has an offsite morgue they store and they went to pick him up the next day. Everything is spelled out price wise and extremely reasonable and they treat you with dignity and again I was very happy with their service. Please be aware it can take a couple to three week to receive the ashes, if you are going that route, because the hold up is usually at the County/States Agencies, ie Vital Records, but once that is done, it is smooth sailing.

My uncle passed away in San Francisco and our family is in Minneapolis. The kindness, compassion and willingness to help in any way possible made the whole process that much easier. Most of the arrangements were done by phone and email before we were able to fly out and pick up his cremains. When we arrived we were greeted with the same kindness, compassion and thoughtfulness as we had throughout the entire process. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. So I asked her if can set up an another appointment date so I come in she said she would call me back when their truck comes around again (?). She never called back. In fact, as of this writing, I had to call to inquire about the ashes to which she asked to be reminded the day of my uncle's passing in order for her to pull up the file...But I guess in her defense; she deals with families everyday so it's easy to forget one.

Afterward, the funeral home admitted the embalmer hadn't done the job correctly and that my brother still needed more time to be prepared -- yet they never told us beforehand. This robbed us of leaving our last memory with him in peace, turning it into something even more painful and traumatic. Their negligence has left us still living a nightmare, deepening our grief and leaving a wound that will never fully heal.

My mom's wishes were to have her ashes spread. She was the planner in the family, and without her, the responsibility fell upon me. She was not a religious person and so the nature of the "event" was a real question in my mind. I was concerned all the invitees would show up and not know what to do or say. That's where Katherine came into the picture. She knew how to add a structure where there was none. She knew how to create and event of significance. She understood. Quickly, the event began to take a shape. The pre planning was efficient and Katherine always made herself available to us. Communication was very good. Lastly, translating the planning to the actual event went flawlessly. There were so many things that could go wrong. What if it rains? What if there's no wind?.. etc... Katherine took away my worries and made them her responsibility. She would adapt. This allowed me to "be" there for my mom's ceremony rather than be the planner.
