But there are other stores here along with restaurants and coffee shops. Seems like this is more of a place to hang out at to me. They had live music the time I was here. I got lucky and found some street parking, but make sure you feed that meter, the Berkeley meter patrol doesn't play. They are waiting for that meter to expire and they circle this area a lot!!

I'll be honest, none of the shops here are really from brands or stores I would normally shop at (lol rich people stores), so we really didn't stop by a lot of them and most of them were closing for the evening anyways (I have learned that lots of things in the Bay Area close quite early). Bay Street is making a comeback! There's been a flood of new stores coming into Bay Street that…read morehave reinvigorated the shopping area. Most notably is Tokyo Central. Ever since Tokyo Central opened about a month ago, this mall has been significantly busier. Other anchor stores are the Apple Store, Sephora, H&M, Uniqlo, and of course, Fogo de ciao. The top deck of the area across from Tokyo Central is filled with eateries. These are now thriving and get quite busy on Thursday Friday and Saturday nights. The main drawback of the mall is the parking. You do have to pay for parking if you stay more than 30 minutes. They built a new parking lot above Tokyo Central, but that has the same policy. there's a small amount of parking that is metered along the main street.

Old Oakland and Oakland Chinatown are just a few blocks away. Lots of small places to eat here, although most are closed during the weekend. You can tell this is a major lunch area during the week for businesses located here and the surrounding area. I think if they promoted this place a little better, it has the potential to be a very popular place, mostly because it is so aesthetically pleasing!!

The prices have gone up a bit since the early days, but compared to retail and their standard outlet stores, but the deals are still amazing. This place is the OG. If you allow time for parking and give yourself a solid hour to browse, you're almost guaranteed to walk out with a treasure or two. Expect to be in there for 30 min to an hour if you like to sort through everything. Employees have always been nice and helpful. I always stop by when heading out to the bay or passing by. I never make a trip just to go to this store, or else you put yourself up for disappointment. It's an outlet! Like I said- hit or miss.
