This is one of those hidden gems that are easy to miss because it looks like a little shack on the side of the road. It's my place to go if I ever want some carribean fare near the workplace. Lots of local family vibes. I'll usually get the chicken curry dinner. Very bold and spicy flavor. The rice and peas that come with it are delicious as well and could be a dish just on their own. I'm also pleased that they let you substitute the salad for their steamed vegetables and also have their extra pepper hot sauce if you fancy a stronger kick. It's a fantastic place to go if you're looking to pick up a fresh plate to-go to take with you. read more

This is the best hands down the rice and peas was on point the oxtails were so good tender and juicy . I ordered on doordash first and the next day I had to find the place they are warm welcome and friendly and from the islands this was my first time trying a spicy double I'm not sure if I'm saying it right I ordered 1 and turn back around and ordered 3 more I wasn't a big fan of the champagne soda but I'm not big on sodas so that didn't bother me ! I love this place my husband ordered 2 oxtails plates one for now and one for later 10 out of 10 highly recommended!!!! Don't walk run!!!!!!! read more

Great food. Wonderful vibe. Everyone was friendly as well. Definitely worth trying out.

I'm not really sure why it has taken me so long to write a review for Asha's Roti Shop.I would definitely consider myself a definite regular here with my numerous visits for their food. Asha's is not really a place for dinning in since its located in a shack with a to go window. As for the parking situation its very limited. Cash is a must if going to pick up your food, but there is a bank right down the street.Asha's was recently added to Waitr so can use credit cards for delivery for your food. As far as the food goes its really authentic with all the dishes from the meat pies to their main dishes.I usually have them add Matouks hot sauce for a little kick with my dinners. read more

Drove to visit based on reviews and wanting to try some authentic carrribean food. We had the curry dinner, stew chicken dinner, plantain, and beef patties. We subbed potato's for the salad that came with each meal. The rice and peas were delicious. And so we're the fried plantain. The lady who served us was very nice and accommodating, being I asked many questions as a first timer. I'm not a native islander, so I don't know what authentic taste like, but the meat lacked flavor and spice to me. All in all, a cool little experience! Their customers were really nice, too! read more

Yum yum yum!! Location is a bit far, but my girl loves this place so she makes the trip every few months just to get roti.. and since both her parents are from Trinidad, I would say this place is pretty authentic and legit!!! The place is small - just an order window with 2 picnic tables out front on their patio. They make your order as they get it so it's a small wait. Remember they are cash only!!! They have a selection of dinner plates, roti, appetizers, and drinks! I got the curry chicken roti with the peardrax and my friend got the oxtail roti with a vita malt! Both rotis came out hot and wrapped so that it wouldn't drip. They were large and filling! My curry chicken (bone-in cause I don't like dry chicken breast) was filled with potatoes, curry and seasoned perfectly with a mild curry sauce. The roti wrapper/skin was soft and didn't overwhelm the roti. My friend's oxtail roti was more of a stew - and delicious in flavors and filled with bone-in stewed oxtails. Overall, it was fantastic flavors and seasoned perfectly and the meat was tender. This was the first time I had the peardrax, it is like a pear cider/soda. The vita malt was a green drink - definitely different and took some getting use to! Awesome place for a taste of Trinidadian food and well worth the drive! Priced well for the amount of food you get! read more

Went there with a few coworkers for lunch. They have a pretty good selection of rotis. The oxtail lunch was the best. But I would also recommend their Jerk Chicken roti. They don't have any diet soda options. Also it's more of a carry out since there is not many tables outside to sit. read more

Was in the area and needed lunch with a colleague. Found this place nearby online. It's order at the window and has just 2 tables outside. Very friendly staff. Fantastic food. Enjoyed the curry chicken roti and glad I popped for the beef patties. Delish! We'll be back! read more

The curried chicken is always good... and beef patties... you can't lose! Maybe I shouldn't share this insight?

Top notch Trinidadian food. I drive from Dallas every 3 months just to get food. I highly recommend this to everyone

Delicious , reasonably priced, and good service. Everything came out hot in a short amount of time. I will be back when in Baytown.

I don't quite know how I found this place it might have been a suggestion through Yelp and I find it is a good place to go if you're looking for Caribbean food on the east side of Houston I had the chicken stew roti boneless it was excellent I will be back to try other stuff on the menu. read more

Delicious food and always hot I only wish the peppers they ask if you want on top was a little more spicy but overall delicious. I recommend the goat dinner!!! read more

Asha is my girl! We frequent Asha's and now I have introduced the Caribbean style food to my co workers and they cannot get enough. As I have mentioned before always call ahead. Let her know you will be picking up at a certain time and she will have most if not all of it prepared but never go in a rush because many just go there to order and the small window area can get crowded. The parking is another issue. It's next to a mechanic shop so some times you may have to cross over to their end to park but since it's just go and pick up it shouldn't create An issue. Every now and then you see a few souls brave the heat and they sit to eat in the small benches in front of the ordering window. The establishment is still cash only so always be prepared. If you ask for anything extra she will charge you from 1-3$. On this particular trip a bit after 12 on a week day, she didn't have much items ready. She expects you to call ahead so she can have time to prepare certain items. Plantains and the hand made juices were a few. They are open at 11:00 but she begins answering calls by 10:30 to take orders. the only complaints are that sometimes they stinge on the gravy for the chicken or meat so you have to make sure to ask for it. If you notice on her menu she may have specials listed just for particular days but you have to call and make sure. I wanted the bake (light fried dough mixture resembles a fluffy fried flatbread but a bit denser) and fish (usually king fish) but it was not ready. Hot pepper, tamarind and Kuchela are always a must just ask for it on the side they make good add ons to any meal. I ordered several Roti's, doubles and dinner plates and everyone enjoyed their meal to the last bite. Call in, have cash on hand, pick up, eat and be happy. read more

This place is so good. I like the veggie roti. Taste is authentic and fresh. The rotis are huge as well and filled pretty good too.

Been to this spot several times.I love Roti!and their roti is on point. Have had, chicken, oxtail, shrimp, goat and have not been disappointed. You can order the roti skins and make your own curry if you prefer, but you have to place your order the day before. In the past(abt 3 years ago)I ordered one of their plates. I was not impressed with what I had and portion was small for the price, however this does not discourage me from going there. On weekends the wait is a bit long. The customer service is pretty good. I would definately recommend it if uou love curry and Roti like I do. read more

Asha Roti is some of the best Roti I have had. I like their fusion of Indian and Jamaican food. My only complaint is that they close so early! read more

I really enjoyed the curry chicken and my wife's oxtails. Only negatives I can say is they didn't give any sauce (curry or oxtail gravy) with the order. It should have 2-3 mores pieces of oxtails for the price you pay. So both were serve dry. The other thing if it was a sit down restaurant. It's a take out place with a little outdoor space. I will definitely go back again. read more

Absolutely authentic and delicious . This roti looks and more importantly tastes just like back home. Worth the drive.

Good Roti spot that I enjoy. Very pleased with menu and very flavorful. I've had roti's before at other places and they send me to the toilet, but at Asha's place that has never happened. read more

Very friendly and food is always good. You gotta try all the sodas too. Great for after the pool or try the curry for a good hangover cu

I ordered from the waiter app. I ordered salt fish and dumplings dinner and on the app. It states it comes with rice and peas and a salad. I substituted the salad with plantain and ordered an extra plantain order on the side. When my food arrived it did not have rice and peas or the plantain that comes with the meal . Only the extra(which was burnt). I informed Waiter that I was missing these items and they informed me that she said it doesn't come with rice and peas. I sent them the screenshot of the menu. She calls me very rudely saying the meal does not come with rice and peas. I calmly told her that it is listed on the waiter app and if it's not correct, she should look into it. She keeps ranting about it isn't on her menu at the store. I ordered online btw. She states she will never pick up an order for me again. Customer service goes a long way. There are dozens of other restaurants I can order from. As the business owner, she is the only one being impacted by the loss of a sale. A good business practice would have been to apologize for something that was clearly her mistake in her listing. read more

I just want to start off by saying Ashas has saved me from cooking on days I just don't want to, and I am very grateful. The women who work here work very hard to produce such delicious rustic food you just can't really beat the value. You get much more than food. You genuinely get home cooking which to me is priceless on the days I need it the most. I normally order the bone in stewed chicken roti The curried potatoes are the star in this dish. Very rustic. Give it a chance. They have something for everyone. read more

The service was horrible and the food was subpar. Utensils and napkins were not included with the meal or available for customers. The water that was supposed to be included with the order was never provided at pick up or even after asking for it the second time. There is only an outdoor sitting area without adequate shade so the weather has a big influence on dining at the establishment. read more

I cannot wait to try. The lady who answered the phone had a pleasant voice. My son's father is British Guyanese and prepares all these menu items which made me a fan.
