I'm not really sure why it has taken me so long to write a review for Asha's Roti Shop.I would definitely consider myself a definite regular here with my numerous visits for their food. Asha's is not really a place for dinning in since its located in a shack with a to go window. As for the parking situation its very limited. Cash is a must if going to pick up your food, but there is a bank right down the street.Asha's was recently added to Waitr so can use credit cards for delivery for your food. As far as the food goes its really authentic with all the dishes from the meat pies to their main dishes.I usually have them add Matouks hot sauce for a little kick with my dinners.

Drove to visit based on reviews and wanting to try some authentic carrribean food. We had the curry dinner, stew chicken dinner, plantain, and beef patties. We subbed potato's for the salad that came with each meal. The rice and peas were delicious. And so we're the fried plantain. The lady who served us was very nice and accommodating, being I asked many questions as a first timer. I'm not a native islander, so I don't know what authentic taste like, but the meat lacked flavor and spice to me. All in all, a cool little experience! Their customers were really nice, too!

Yum yum yum!! Location is a bit far, but my girl loves this place so she makes the trip every few months just to get roti.. and since both her parents are from Trinidad, I would say this place is pretty authentic and legit!!! The place is small - just an order window with 2 picnic tables out front on their patio. They make your order as they get it so it's a small wait. Remember they are cash only!!! They have a selection of dinner plates, roti, appetizers, and drinks! I got the curry chicken roti with the peardrax and my friend got the oxtail roti with a vita malt! Both rotis came out hot and wrapped so that it wouldn't drip. They were large and filling! My curry chicken (bone-in cause I don't like dry chicken breast) was filled with potatoes, curry and seasoned perfectly with a mild curry sauce. The roti wrapper/skin was soft and didn't overwhelm the roti. My friend's oxtail roti was more of a stew - and delicious in flavors and filled with bone-in stewed oxtails. Overall, it was fantastic flavors and seasoned perfectly and the meat was tender. This was the first time I had the peardrax, it is like a pear cider/soda. The vita malt was a green drink - definitely different and took some getting use to! Awesome place for a taste of Trinidadian food and well worth the drive! Priced well for the amount of food you get!

Asha is my girl! We frequent Asha's and now I have introduced the Caribbean style food to my co workers and they cannot get enough. As I have mentioned before always call ahead. Let her know you will be picking up at a certain time and she will have most if not all of it prepared but never go in a rush because many just go there to order and the small window area can get crowded. The parking is another issue. It's next to a mechanic shop so some times you may have to cross over to their end to park but since it's just go and pick up it shouldn't create An issue. Every now and then you see a few souls brave the heat and they sit to eat in the small benches in front of the ordering window. The establishment is still cash only so always be prepared. If you ask for anything extra she will charge you from 1-3$. On this particular trip a bit after 12 on a week day, she didn't have much items ready. She expects you to call ahead so she can have time to prepare certain items. Plantains and the hand made juices were a few. They are open at 11:00 but she begins answering calls by 10:30 to take orders. the only complaints are that sometimes they stinge on the gravy for the chicken or meat so you have to make sure to ask for it. If you notice on her menu she may have specials listed just for particular days but you have to call and make sure. I wanted the bake (light fried dough mixture resembles a fluffy fried flatbread but a bit denser) and fish (usually king fish) but it was not ready. Hot pepper, tamarind and Kuchela are always a must just ask for it on the side they make good add ons to any meal. I ordered several Roti's, doubles and dinner plates and everyone enjoyed their meal to the last bite. Call in, have cash on hand, pick up, eat and be happy.

This was my first time coming to the food truck park and I especially came because of this truck. The staff was so nice I really contemplated about this rating for this review, but when I think about the amount of money paid for my main entree and how I couldn't eat half of it and the spice levels didn't match my expectation, I came to this. A 3.5 would have been more accurate quite honestly but alas, yelp has its system. I ordered the bake and fried fish and the doubles. I asked for spicy on the doubles but they didn't taste too spicy - instead I used the sauce included on my bake n fish (possibly had some scotch bonnet peppers) and it was excellent. The bake and fish came as tacos - I don't think I realized that. It was good, but only two small tacos. The french fries were unfortunately burnt and therefore dry and inedible. I gave up on eating them. We were in a hurry, otherwise, I would have chatted with the staff about possibly getting some new fries. I would give this another try --I'd likely try a few other trucks first or at least have something to accompany my meal in addition to what I order from Krave.

Thank god we found this!…read more After finishing our lunch at Wrap & Roll, we saw this out of the corner of the eye and decided to stop here as the girlfriend was looking for some caribbean snacks. Being from St Croix island in the Virgin Islands, seeing the menu and taking in the smells of this place gave her memories of back home. Of course I was happy to indulge her request as it gave me an opportunity to try some handheld eats. First the beef pattie, pretty big and so savory with the meat melting in your mouth and the dough having a nice texture and crust. And then the saheena; OMG! It was my first time having this lovely pastry which is made of chickpeas, spinach, and caribbean spices. You'll be hooked on this after one bite. Texture was similar to a savory piece of cornbread. Of course I was very happy with this item. The girlfriend ordered a currant roll which had some sweetness to it with a flaky crust. I enjoyed it but not as much as I was scarfing down my beef pattie and saheena. They also serve traditional caribbean eats including jerk chicken, oxtails, bake & saltfish, and roti wraps. We noticed a lot of people place to go orders here and call ahead for pick up. There were several bags of eats waiting as we witnessed people roll in and pick them up while having small talk with the owners. All those items looked delicious and we plan to come back and try those out. We also talked to the owners for a bit, they're a husband/wife team who've owned/operated this place for a while. Super polite and gracious, they helped me navigate the menu and explained what the items would be like when I ordered. Sadly I could not get the Aloo Pie (sold out) but they assured me it's worth having and to come back and try it (which we will). Pearland is lucky to have this place here. Definitely recommend trying it out for yourself!

The young lady taking our order was really nice and patient, which I appreciated since it was my first time trying Trinny food. I ordered the curry chicken with fried rice and potato salad, while my friend went for the stew chicken with roti. Honestly, my plate was just okay. The chicken was a little dry and not as full of flavor as I was hoping. Now, the potato salad? That was the star for me. I could've eaten a whole container of it--I really wish I had grabbed some to go. My friend, on the other hand, really enjoyed her meal and said it was good. The menu has no pricing, nor did the shelf with specialty items (i.e. caramel, currants roll, etc.). While I enjoyed the music, it was extremely loud for a Sunday morning breakfast. I got doubles and aloo pie to eat there. Sadly, neither one had flavor. I was so looking forward to a nice hot doubles with plenty pepper, and was truly disappointed. The aloo pie barely had potato. I ordered two Sunday lunch plates to-go. One was stew chicken & the other was BBQ chicken. Both were served with fried rice, macaroni pie, and potato salad. The stew chicken was dry. No sauce at all. I tried the sauce and it was so flavorful and savory. Would definitely get them if I ate beef. Now that curry mash! O my goodness, I never had it before but it was so good. It's not just mash potatoes and curry. The onions, peppers and other fresh seasonings set it off and I would get it again. The plantains were good, soft and sweet. The steamed veggies were so good and sautéed perfectly. I don't like them cooked too long and they had the perfect bite. The rice and peas were also good. They went perfectly with the meal and the seasoning was on point. The chicken curry patty I could've passed on. The outside was so flaky and good! I never had a patty like that but it was kind of cold and I had already gotten the curry chicken and thats exactly what it taste like, just in patty form, although the curry chicken meal was better. The chicken curry was sooo good and flavorful. I got a roti skin to sop up my curry but didn't care for it to much. It tastes like its made with wheat flour or germ flour and was a bit too thick‍ no shade to them. To be honest, I'm a 'bust up shut' roti kinda girl and everybody's is different and that's fine. Now, if they made the roti skin like they made the Jamaican patty, I would be in business. I ate quite a bit and STILL had a whole meal to take home with me and was full after finishing it. When I see people of the culture eating their own food its a good indication to me the food is good. There were a couple tables with a few Jamaican's enjoying it. We went the Saturday after Hurricane Beryl so the lights in the dining area were out probably due to heat, which I'm fine with. It wasn't too hot or cool even without the air on. It was a good time. Next time I'm getting the jerk chicken
