I have had dinner here about a half dozen times. While the food is very good, the policies of the ownership have a lot to desire. After having a great fish fry, a bunch of us decided to return a second week for another All-you-can-eat fish fry dinner. During the evening, the waitress asked if we would like to have more fish. We said we would, so bring out another plate full (it was family-style serving). A few seconds late, Deb the owner and cook, stormed out of the kitchen and began yelling at us that we left uneaten fish on our plates the week before and that we was losing money serving us. The weekend before, our tab was $220. Thus, her anger offended us and we haven't been back as a group. We had planned to make it a Friday event throughout the summer, so I estimate that Ash Trail Lodge lost about $3,500 in business from our group. I decided to go by myself for a fish dinner two weeks later because the food is very, very good. However, this time, I was put off by the fact that when it came time to pay my bill ($14.00), they would not take a credit card unless the check was more than $20. I had about $8 in my pocket, so I was forced to use their ATM machine, which ended up costing me $5 to take out $20. So the meal ended up costing me $20. While the food is fantastic, the service by the owners has something to be desired. Yes, it is a resort area and their summer season for making money is short, but you still have to treat the customers with respect and be happy that they selected your joint to dine in. I would not recommend the Ash Trail Lodge to anyone for a dining experience, unless they want to be treated rudely. read more
