The output jack on my Cordoba C7-CE had become loose and could only be tightened again by removal of the strings and getting inside the sound box. The guitar is equipped with a Fishman pre-amp system and I did not want to risk damaging the wire connections of this rather expensive system to the jack. Ash completed the delicate job entirely to my satisfaction for a ridiculously low charge. My guitar sounds as good as ever with the now secure jack and I am consequently extremely pleased. I brought in my cheapie 20+ year old electric guitar for repairs. To say that this instrument has been neglected is a bit of an understatement. I hadn't really touched it in about 15 years, and even then, it sounded pretty rough, due to my lack of knowledge about how an electric guitar is supposed to sound (it was the height of the grunge era and I'm a terrible player). Ash was completely non-judgemental about the state of my guitar and was immediately able to identify a few ways to make it better, including fixing some manufacturing errors. I was kind of blown away by his knowledge of my low-end entry-level guitar. He gave me a rundown of what was necessary (replace the original 20+ year old strings, etc.) and what I might want to do once I graduated from being able to play above a kindergarten level (fixing fret levels so the strings didn't buzz, etc.). I asked for the minimum, plus a fix for whatever was causing the guitar to ONLY work at volume 10 (it could only go big or go home). The guitar was ready in 2 days. Ash fixed the volume and control knobs by giving them a good cleaning, replaced the strings, probably did a bunch of other great things I didn't understand, and shined it up like new. He also (again, non-judgmentally) gave me some good advice on how to maintain this and any other guitar. Now, the guitar sounds better than it did coming out of the box and it's a real joy to play. The whole experience from beginning to end was great, and a lot like working with an honest mechanic. Ash treated my guitar with greater respect than it deserved, while understanding that I didn't want to spend a lot on fixing it. It's clear that he usually works with professional, or near-professional musicians, but he never talked down to me. I can't recommend him enough! read more

I bought a new guitar from a major music store chain. I was playing if for a week or so and it just did not feel correctly setup. I looked for someone in the Toronto area that could setup my new PRS Mark Holcolm and replace the dreaded cheap plastic nut. Took it to Ash and he had it correctly setup and the nut swapped out with the better Tusq XL nut. I am still a beginner but I could feel that the guitar was greatly improved in play-ability and action wise. He also changed out the stock strings for a set of balanced strings as I needed the guitar to be tuned in E for the time being while I am still learning. The new guitar feels like it should have been when I bought it, I guess I needed a "professional" to look at it. Amazing that you would get a guitar from that dealer setup the way that I got it? Anyway Ash took the time to explain all that he did to the guitar and many other helpful tips. Overall very impressed and happy with his work and prices. Knowledgeable, personable, patient. Highly recommended. I just needed something very simple done- a strap peg on an acoustic with a bolt on neck. Ash took the care to work with me to confirm the manufacturers info on exactly where to place the peg and confirmed it with magnets as well. Even the drill angle was discussed at length. Just got my 5 year old Fender Deluxe Strat setup and redressed (frets) by Ash and it looks as though it's brand new!
