Large supermarket, does have good prices and stocks a lot of ranges of food. Large car park. Petrol station is always one of the cheapest around. Open 24 hours. For me though generally it is a nightmare to drive in and out of, it is so close to the main Coventry Rd and I only tend to go here during a weekday as evenings and weekends it is too stressful to drive too. Another time I always go is in the middle of the night coming up to Christmas, its quieter but shockingly still fairly busy at 3am!! read more

As with most Asda's this has a great selection of stock at rock bottom prices. Also the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. The fruit and vegetable sections are particularly good as they always have fresh produce which is top quality. It tends to get busy in the early evenings and weekends but where doesn't it get busy, at this time of year especially!!! A great place also to stock up on cheap wine and beer, in time for those festive celebrations. Very handy location for me, good choice of parking too. But the roads can get a bit congested at times but if you are patient enough it is worth shopping here. read more

Located in a busy area of small heath, it can be a hassle parking and getting out. Nice spacious aisle which are clearly labeled. Good offers such as buy-one-get-one-free and 3for2. As with most supermarkets alot of items are grossly overpriced and can be found cheaper in wholesalers or markets. Some of the Asda smart price range is good value for money. read more

Open 24 hours Monday morning to late Saturday evening and again for 6 hours on Sunday. Gets very busy I have not really gone at any time during the day and found it to be quiet. Has a large George range of clothes and accessories for women men and children. Sells toys at a good price, dvds cds magazines and cards on top of the food. If following a weight watchers diet a trip to Asda is always worth while as it stocks more of the weight watchers range than any other supermarket. I used to like shopping at this store but noticed it seems to be going downhill, its looking a bit worn lately and not quite so clean as when i first started shopping here. The offers are ok but there are never any really good bargains to be had from what I can see and the staff dont seem to be as interested in the customer as they could be. A smile and a friendly face go a long way when your feeling harrassed with kids running round your feet and you have been standing in a queue for quite a while. Avoid Saturdays they are a nightmare no matter what time i go in. read more

I have been ordering items online from Asda (delivered from Small Heath) for a few months now, but have never really been impressed with the level of service I have received. Last week was the final straw for me. I had arranged a Sunday delivery between 5 and 7 o'clock. I received a phone call at 4:10 from the delivery guy asking if he could deliver it within ten minutes. I said not ten, but twenty should be okay. I was out but had to rush back. Luckily I was only ten minutes away from my house, but as soon as I stepped through the door they had arrived. Why should I have to rush around when I had arranged that time-slot four days before? I ordered my usual items, one item had been substituted and SIX items were not available. When unpacking the bags, there were SEVEN items missing from my shopping!!! By the time I had unpacked and figured out what was missing, it was 4:45. I immediately phoned the number on top of the sheet, as we are advised to do if there are any problems, to find that there was nobody in the home delivery department that I could speak to. I spoke to the Duty Manager who asked for the order number, my name and contact telephone number and said that he would leave a note for the relevant department to sort out. I gave him the product code and description of every missing item, which he wrote down. He asked me if I wanted the missing items delivered the following day, or just for the money to be refunded back on my card. I told him I wanted a refund since I didn't want the hassle of another delivery. He said okay and that was that... A week later, I have not received a telephone call from anybody at Asda, nor an email, and the money isn't in my account. They will be getting another call from me tomorrow. As a student, i find asda to be quite good value for money on certain items. Their smartprice range is really good and i cannot tell the difference between this and the more expensive branded items. However, the asda extra special range is quite pricey. I have had the pleasure of tasting the extraspecial sponge cake, and i found it to be the single most delicous cake ever, so the extra money could be well spent when you consider the quality and taste of the items you are buying. Asda sell reduced stock like books, batteries, bread, food items close to their sell-by date, or items with damaged packaging etc. You can always bag yourself a bargain. It is shocking the amount of food that supermarkets throw away merely due to damaged packaging, where the item might have been accidently dropped or squashed. By buying these reduced items you are doing your bit for the environment and ensuring you help your pursestrings. Asda also stock every brand of special occasion cards, magazines, stationary, household items such as irons, towels, tvs, etc. Asda own brand of electricals is extremely good value for money, and perfect for students like myself. I recently bought a iron for £2.99, bathroom scales for £2.99 and a kettle for £3.99. Staff are polite and help you find items you are looking for. If they are new and do not know where to find the item, they will get someone else who does know, so you will always find what you are looking for. The George brand of clothes are quite good quality, and won't break the bank for the young or old, male or female. Wheneever i have gone there, in the daytime or the evenings i found more than enough parking spaces to choose from, expecially at the back of the carpark. Before i leave the store, i always ensure i fill up with their petrol, that is always the cheapest on the market, and paying with the asda credit card also gives you 2p off every litre, meaning you come back again and again. Overall, the store is always clean, staff are friendly, products are cheap and relatively easy to find and petrol is cheap. However, it is also much more than a supermarket, as it offers free cash machines, a post box, carrier bag recycling point, a pharmacy, photo printing machines and a coin machine. This involves you putting all your spare change and coppers into a machine by the entrance, and it gives you a receipt that you take to the till to exchange for cash. This is why it is the best supermarket on the market today, and i am its most loyal customer. read more

It's dirty, staff are unfriendly and unhelpful. Was verbally abused in the car park by several young male employees who were very threatening. In clothes section half of them were on the floor (staff or customers or both at fault!!!!!!!) and had a poor selection compared to Asda at Great Bridge.I only shop here if I absolutely have to. Over a four year period this store has been going downhill fast. If you complain about staff attitude to a manager they always support the staff - try it you'll soon find out what they think about their customers. read more

The fact that Asda is good value for money,that only works if you go into the store to do your shopping. when shopping online Variety of stock is rubbish, reliability of stock is extremely poor and unreliable, as a whole the service is pretty poor. I believe only superstores should supply and provide the service for online shopping as small stores and supermarkets cannot handle the demand, therefore failing to provide the service us as customers expect and pay for. How many people like myself have received their online shopping with numerous amount of items missing? Then spend the whole day calling the asda customer service help centre and keep hearing the same script speech being read over and over and over again with always a very polite apology at the beginning and a promise someone will call you back at the end of the call!! but no one does, so you call back and back again and then shockingly enough there's no manager on duty, you then have to wait until the following morning again with a promise someone will call you back. The following day it is you that ends up calling them again, chasing your shopping like a mad person.When you finally manage to speak to someone in charge they talk to you like they are doing you a favor by making sure you get the shopping that you've already paid for and should of fully received and don,t even have the decency to refund you for the delivery charge of the delivery you never fully got. So...... does it pay to save a few pennies??? I think not. Many,many people experience the same service from Asda home shopping as i have but they are so drained after spending hours if not days chasing their shopping that they don't have the energy to take the time to give Asda a review about their services worth reading about. I hope in explaining my experiences in regards to Asda home shopping. Asda Head office will do something worth making customers coming back to using this service. read more

Well what a great experience I had in Asdas Small Heath this morning. I was struggling to locate the tea lite candles & I approached what looked like a very helpful chap called Zahed who kindly walked me to the aisle plus asked if there was anything else that he could help me with. Yes there was, I was after the Free From range & yet again I followed him to the correct aisle which saved me getting a headache spinning around the store wondering where the products were that I wanted. We were also assisted by Zahed's colleague called Liz (possibly a supervisory role). The only fault that I had was because the carrier bags are so thin that I wanted an extra one but it seemed some what a mission to get one therefore I was referred to one of the Managers who apologised and said that he understood which to be perfectly honest if understood then he would of given me an extra carrier bag. Well his smile won me over & next time I will have to walk with my own carrier bags but after spending over £30 I did not think that it would of been a problem. Anyway, I pocketed the difference and went on my merry way..Kat read more
