I walked in as they opened and was greeted by Gerard. My goal was to get a small tattoo on my inner wrist to honor a recent self discovery and intention. I showed Gerard 3 pieces of different artwork that I liked as inspiration and he spent about 30 minutes creating something original for me. The tattoo itself took about 2 hours and the price point was really fair. Did a walk in on Friday afternoon for a small tattoo that I'd been wanting. Was quickly inspired by George and Chris to get something very similar to watch I showed them with a small unique twist. Very professional and friendly..so much so we came back the next day and got another one done by Adam! This was my boyfriends first tattoo and it looks AMAZING exactly like the combo of photos we showed him. Would definitely recommend all three of the guys here. They only do walk-ins on a first come first serve basis during the weekends and take a $40 deposit to hold your spot. The told us about an hour and called us within about 45 minutes. My daughter and I came in after a beautiful day, hoping to get tattoos to commemorate this special time together. On arrival the shop was empty, but the proprietor seemed immediately irritated at our presence. If a negative star for service could be left it would. Called in last minute and asked if they were full and if they took walk-ins and their minimum charge fire service. I was a 6 minute walk away at a local coffee shop. I arrive all artists were tattooing and a group of four were waiting. I asked a girl from this group if she'd been helped and they said yes. The four went back and started their tattoos. I waited, and waited finally 60 min in (yeah my fault) a second group of two came in and the owner came out and asked if they'd been helped. They had an appt, fine. I finally said " Hi I called an hr ago as a walk in and no one has even come out to get my name or put me down as a wait. He then asked what I wanted. Three simple band lines to commemorate a special day. I was told they don't guarantee hands, it wouldn't work and then sent me to see another artist. He pretty much mirrored the opinion of the first. Now I have 5 tattoos ranging from small to large. I wasn't asking for script or letters what is to guarantee for three lines? Hell if they fade you have them redrawn. I said I understood the wait however would've been nice to have someone come out or take your name when I had called 5 min before. He was rude, insulted me by saying well I can't be expected to Answer the phone when I'm tattooing, no shit dude somebody answered the phone then he offered me an appointment at noon the next day when I told him I was unavailable he then took my name and number down and I was supposed to "give me a call" I drove down the street to The Fallen Tattoo Asylum and the owner Danny an amazing artist about to close, and his wife had no problem took him 10 min and I double paid him for his time. My 18 year old daughter and I were in Sedona (from Massachusetts) as a graduation gift to her and some mom and daughter time before college. We have so thoroughly enjoyed our time in Sedona that we wanted to commemorate with new tats. This would have been my fifth and my daughter's sixth. We don't have sleeves by any means but we're also not newbies. We do our research and know what we want. First off, the parking sucks! Seriously bad. Then we walk in and there is a couple in front of us and no one greets any of us for a while. I get it. They are busy with customers and obviously have to pay attention to what they are doing. They should probably have a receptionist of some sort. Finally someone comes out and brusquely asks, "so are any of you looking to get tattoos?" Well yeah. Duh. He asked the couple ahead of us what they want and after listening tells him that he won't do it. Then he asks my daughter. She wanted hand/finger tats. He said that they don't do those either. That they "fall off" and then they get blamed. (Mind you, the man has tats all over his hands) My daughter has done all her research and understands that she will most likely have to get them refreshed/repaired down the line and would have been willing to sign something releasing the parlor from any liability. The artist certainly has a right to refuse to do anything but he was so rude to each of us and then just left me and my daughter sitting there without even asking me what I was looking for or if I still wanted to get one. Just walked right back into the back room and left us there. So rude. So in about a minute and a half, he turned away 3 paying customers. Business must be good. Btw, we went to another parlor and after explaining the risks to my daughter, stated that it's ultimately not their business to deny what the INFORMED customer wants and that he only refuses to do anything gang related or anything considered "hate" speech and that art is in the eye of the beholder. He did a lovely job and had a peaceful and respectful energy. In this writer's humble opinion, Ascention only wants to do what they feel is "artistic" and didn't want to be bothered with our simply stated ideas. I'm thrilled that they turned us away as this allowed us to have a much more positive experience elsewhere. There are many options in the area that you really don't have to accept being treated rudely. I've never begged anyone to accept my business and I certainly wasn't starting there. Artists can choose to do what they want and refuse what they don't want but do it kindly and compassionately. No need for rudeness. Maybe it was just a bad day but after reading the other negative reviews, I'm inclined to think not. Peace. read more

The shop is so cool itself, with such beautiful views of Sedona (and is super clean of course). Great vibes in there. He drew up something better than what I described & I am so in love with it. He cared a lot about placement which is something I am always grateful for. The lines are clean and his 20+ years of experience was evident from start to finish.
