Came here today for the first time and played in the Delta (9 holes) course. We got there around 7:45 but the full course was busy until 11am... (they recommended me to make a reservation either on Monday or Tuesday if you wanna come on a Saturday morning) so we decided to play in the short course. The short course was very flat and pretty easy. I recommend it for beginners. Only thing I didn't like was that there were many weeds growing on the side of the course and the grass was kind of tall so I did lose a ball... :( Each hole had par 3-4 except for the last hole. It was 5 and longer than other ones. Although the course was pretty easy, I liked how empty it was. Since no one was playing behind us, we could practice putting. They have a pretty nice range as well. There's an area where you can practice approach/putting so it was cool. Next time I wanna play in the 18 holes course :) read more

Well this was an experience, first I understand that golf in the winter is different no matter where you are but I don't understand why the course is in such bad shape. The fairways are pretty much dirt covered by patches of long crabgrass. And if you miss the fairway good luck hitting off anything but hard compact dirt. By the condition of the greens I know that they know how to take care of a course, the greens where excellent for this time of year. Smooth fast and very well kept. Of course they had dead spots but even those weren't that bad. The greens are why this is a 2 star and not a 1 star review. I paid for 18 but only played 9 because it just wasn't enjoyable to be hitting off dirt and bare grass patch's. For the so called "best course in town" I expected more. Update found out I played the short course instead of the full 18 hole course, maybe the full course is better but no help from the front staff or any signs indicating the different courses. Ascarate Golf Course is good for your money. Its an affordable course to enjoy and better your game but in a way what makes it affordable is that the course itself is relaxed and not perfectly trimmed. The course is old and ran down yet players spirits keep it positive. The restrooms smell, the grill takes longer than usual to serve your food. The snacks cart only sells beer. (No spirits) but overall good costumer service. read more

I've been to two course while here in El Paso and this course is not only beautiful but very well priced. There are 28 holes, 9 you can walk or 18 you can use a cart. They have a bar and food. The fairways super plush grass and for being in the middle of the dessert it was amazing, making it very easy to find your balls. read more

***THEFT OF PERSONAL PROPERTY WARNING*** I've played Ascarate countless times over the years growing up, and after this week I probably won't be back. Due to the poor weather, the group I was playing with (4 groups of 3-4) had to return to the club house to wait out the rain. We asked the pro shop if we could finish the round once the rain cleared and we told to go ahead and leave our carts parked in front of the club house. Maybe 5 minutes later, one of the employees came in with belongings he found in the cart. Some glasses and a bag. I realized I left my wallet inside my cart so I went to retrieve it from my cart which at this point had already been returned to the cart shed by said employee after we had been assured they would be left outside. When I told him I needed to grab my wallet, he knew exactly which cart it was and exactly where the cart was in the shed. When we got to the cart, my wallet was in the passenger side (I had been driving all afternoon) and all of the cash inside was gone. Immediately the employee blamed a Black man who was volunteering to complete community service hours even though he wasn't in the shed or the one who returned the cart. Keep in mind the volunteers are part of the Adult Probation program for the county of El Paso, thats why they are able to complete their hours at the golf course which is also ran by the county. The fact that the employee's initial response was to blame a black guy who wasn't even there or the one who took our cart after it was supposed to be left outside, leaves me frustrated because obviously the man on probation is the easiest target to point the blame. After bringing this to the attention of the pro shop and the supervisor who was there, I still had to return the next morning and file a formal complaint and fill out an incident report. Mike Smith the head pro was very polite the way he handled the complaint but there is only so much that can be done when there are NO security cameras on the premise and fingers are being pointed in every direction. My suggestion to anyone after this, is keep ALL your belongings on you at ALL times. If anything goes missing, don't be surprised if they try to blame it on some poor guy on probation doing community service because of a couple of speeding tickets. read more

Park is not maintained at all the city does a poor job on keeping this park up. This park has so much potential but it city reps and council do nothing to make improvements to it is tear they allow to plummet even more. We need more recreational centers that are kept up. read more
