Disc Golf

Underwood Golf Complex is not just for military members at least not not anymore they are now also open to civilians. The golf course is kept and maintained as good as its affordable price. I liked their pro shop because it has a fair amount of neat golf gear. Just like any other golf course and due to its price this golf course can get crowded during holidays so get mentally ready. The snacks cart is well stocked with beer and wine.

This is for the restaurant at the Golf Complex. The hospitality is always amazing and they remember you and treat you like you are at a Michelin five star restaurant every single time. Food portions are plenty and always freshly cooked and made to order: no leftovers here. So good things come to those who wait. They offer everything from breakfast to dinner options all hours of the day. There is a well stocked bar for those who want to talk about their game after a round of golf and plenty of TVs to watch various sporting events. You can also host parties here, and it is good for large groups as well. They offer Sunday brunch and also step it up a notch for holidays. You don't need to be active duty military or military retired to eat here or get access to the restaurant. It is a great location for Northeast El Paso and a fun spot even if you are not golfing.

El Paso County Parks & Recreation - Splash and Dash in #ElPaso at Ascarte Park.

El Paso County Parks & Recreation

(6 reviews)

One of the prettiest parks you'll find in El Paso and it definitely houses a lot of great memories…read morefor locals. Everything from concerts to 5Ks are held at this park and at one time this was home to Western Playland (before it's move to NM, it actually was a great amusement park). In the center is the lake where you can go fishing or paddle out on a boat. I'm not entirely sure why, but people don't swim here. It's actually out of El Pasoans character to swim in anything but an actual designated pool which completely breaks my heart. I grew up swimming in creeks, lakes, and rivers and never once did I question the green stuff growing down the ways or whatever touched my foot (you always just assumed it was a catfish), but Ascarate Lake is actually a clean looking lake so it is literally the ideal swimming spot. My friends from Wisconsin wouldn't hesitate to jump in Ascarate...just saying. Ascarate Park may in fact be the largest park in El Paso and it's one of my favorites. There are a few improvements that I think could be made like adding a dog park and allowing re-admittance at events (you have to pay every time even though they give you a ticket, what the hell is the ticket for then?), but overall it's a great place for an event or an evening out with friends and family. Oh and it's free on the weekdays!

Although the lake in Ascarate Park is man-made, it's sure great to see water for some change…read more Entry is free on the weekdays, and $2 per car on the weekends. This park is pretty big, and I love that there's a gravel path that wraps around the lake. Word of warning, I recommend paying attention to weather forecasts and avoid running outside just before/during a dust storm unless you love sand in your mouth. and eyes. There several great reasons to making your way over to Ascarate Park. Being active outside is one of them. Whether you're participating in an official running race or just getting some miles in your shoes, it's a relaxing area to run (and/or jog, walk, bike). There are quite a few 5K runs that take place here including the Walking Dead 5K Run that takes place on the weekend of Halloween ('real' zombies are after your two flags; terrify and fun!). This also the place for HUGE concerts/music festivals. There's certainly enough field space. These big events are usually well advertised for months over the radio. Or check out the 'Events' tab on Yelp! Family time is another reason to visit this park. Every time I've been here I've seen families picnicking/barbecuing under the picnic awnings. These are located throughout the park. There are also at least two play grounds for the kiddos! Definitely a family-friendly place. If only I lived closer to Ascarate, I would spend more evenings running here. But feel free to reach out if you're interested in finding other running routes/paths near Fort Bliss/Airport or on the Westside of town.

I CAME WITH NO CLUBS TO PLAY AND MY BOYFRIEND WAS ONLY IN A GROUP WITH A FATHER AND SON (meaning he got a cart to himself anyway). With an establishment that was recommended by pretty "high name" people of the city, I'm surprised to see Painted Dunes making visitors pay a WHOLE cart fee just to spend time with their significant other, when there was room in the first place to accommodate. Also, another note, I came LATE because I was waiting for my boyfriend to let me know if he'd get his own cart anyway. I found my boyfriend at hole 5 and was tracked down at hole 7 being told to pay. MONEY HUNGRY behavior.

Ok, I'll start out by saying I have never once played golf here. So, my review might not "work" for…read moregolfers. However I have attended a few events here. Most notably the 4th of July fireworks and food trucks etc. The golf course is basically my back yard, but I still haven't swing any clubs here - I'm more of a casual Top Golf guy lol I do have friends though that golf almost daily, and neighbors that do as well and take advantage of the courses proximity to our new homes. They all swear by it and love it. Probably one of the better courses in El Paso - because I have friends deep on the West Side that still make the track over here to play 18.
