excerpt from the paperwork sent to me showing how the staff at Wilson never indicated the cost of the room, nor communicated it to me

My father was transferred to the Wilson rehab center after a stint at the hospital for congestive heart failure. He stayed with the facility for several weeks. He was generally well looked-after by the staff, who were attentive and flexible, and the staff responded to my phone calls. Near the end of his care, he was sent back to the hospital in an emergency situation, and this is where the trouble began. Unfortunately, I was not present during the emergency, as I live in California. A friend of my father's came to the facility. I was asked if I wanted to place a hold on the room. I said yes. The friend signed the paperwork. I asked about the charge for holding the room and was told it was covered by his insurance. The cost was not communicated to either myself or the friend. Three months after my father died, I received an invoice from Wilson to the tune of over $8000 for the room hold. I was shocked. At no point did anyone at the facility or in the billing department inform me 1. the insurance didn't cover it, and 2. how exorbitant the cost was. Had I been given accurate information, or any information at all, I wouldn't have placed a hold on the room. I informed the staff I was unable to pay until I completed the sale of my father's house this year. Nearly every month since, I have received a new invoice, each one more than the last. With the "service fees," the bill is now near $10,000. With each subsequent email, I asked the staff to contact me to discuss the situation and provided my phone number. Nothing. Finally, someone else from the billing department sent me the paperwork that was filled out and signed. ALL OF THE SPACES INDICATING THE DOLLAR AMOUNT FOR THE ROOM HOLD WERE BLANK. How on earth was my dad, his neighbor, or I supposed to make any kind of informed judgment if we don't know the costs? I never saw these documents, was never told by the staff at Asbury something was signed, was never sent a copy of these documents at the time of signing, never knew these documents existed. And again, the times at which the room was placed on hold was when he was in severe medical distress and not necessarily a time when someone could make an informed decision, which is why I imagine his friend signed the papers for him the second time around. But again, no one from Asbury contacted me about costs, nor spoke to the friend about costs. The care was good. But my experience trying to resolve this with the billing department has been an exercise in frustration; they are uncommunicative, unhelpful, and dishonest. I deeply regret sending my father here in his final weeks. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

DID YOU FORGET TO ADD THAT PENNY IN ON THE FIRST BILL!

Great place to live! Plenty of amenities; transportation, meals, activities, medical doctors, rehab, hospital.

Nice senior living but the LEADERSHIP here is the worst. People are over-worked with low pay.

I'm only giving this facility one star for my daughter's counselor. She was wonderful, but the rest…read moreof the experience has been ridiculous and beyond belief. Where should I start? Right after my daughter left inpatient therapy she went to the Freedom Center's next phase. I received a phone call from Mike saying my daughter owed $2100 for the stay. After I paid a portion I was informed by my daughter that nobody else in the house knew anything about a $2100 payment. I felt like she was the only one being told to pay this. She was subsequently yelled at and told not to talk about finances with people in the house. She never received any itemized bill of any kind. We just took Mike by his word. Shortly after my daughter went to the next phase of sober living everything seemed to be going smooth until one particular person moved in with a history to many at the center. This woman stole about $1000 worth of clothes and other personal items from my daughter. My daughter put in a complaint to the Admin at the center. The woman admitted to the stealing on video, but once my daughter complained she was targeted by admin and the house manager Brittany. The center claims a zero tolerance on rule breaking. Two girls were kicked out for missing curfew, but this woman who admitted stealing had no consequences. I communicated to Mike, who was supposed to meet with my daughter and the thief, that something needed to be done as a consequence for this woman's stealing. Well, he decided that my daughter and the thief both be put on a contract and lose phone privileges and would not be allowed to leave the house. My daughter did nothing. She was liked by everyone in the house. I was told by many others at the center that the thief has a history of getting people kicked out and creating issues. I could not believe the response to the situation. I was floored. Then I started to realize that the thief must be a major money maker for the freedom center. State insurance vs private insurance is quite different when it comes to billing. I hope the Freedom Center doesn't get audited for fraud, or maybe I do because allowing this destructive woman to stay must have something to do with their bottom line. I was so hopeful for my 23 year old daughter's sobriety, but the freedom center squashed this. Staying at the house in this hostile environment was going to be detrimental to my daughter's progress. Luckily she got out in time to not be majorly effected. It has only been a few days since the experience. She is waiting to hear from a new sober living program to continue her progress. I also wasn't very impressed that the house manager, a young girl named Brittany who had no experience with conflict resolution and really supporting these women or being an advocate. She is a puppet, doing what she is told, support the thief and harass the victim who told on the thief. Hopefully, the freedom center gets their priorities together. Check into other places for your sobriety journey. I hope anyone who reads this understands that all my daughter and I wanted was for the situation to be resolved fairly. Check into other places. No place will be perfect and we weren't expecting this at the freedom center, but we certainly were not expecting the treatment my daughter received.

Amazing team of highly dedicated professionals who genuinely care!!read more
