I researched the going rate for plumbers and the range was 40 to 140 an hour. The $140 an hour, is what a master plumber with years of experience can charge, and it was what they charged us. After mentioning this and the idea of paying for his unpreparedness he lowered the bill, but certainly not to what should have been more reasonable. Would suggest you find someone who's overblown sense of competence is not followed by an overblown bill.

John needed to bring in water & sewer into the building. He had to plumb the bathroom, laundry area & kitchen. He also had to run new propane lines for our cooking stove, Vt Castings propane heater & on demand hot water. It came out perfect. A couple of years later, he had to install a new boiler and all new piping along with all new plumbing for an old house I bought in Huntington. He also ran propane for a clothes dryer, and on demand hot water heater and cooking stove. Again the results were perfect. Recently he installed a water purifying system under our kitchen sink so that we did not have to buy water again. In each and all of the 'jobs' he has done for us, his work is well thought out with money saving recommendations on appliances. His work is impeccable so there is never concern about the safety of all he does. I certainly would recommend him to help anyone who is looking for a very knowledgeable person in his trade. We had had no problems with the heat. He said we needed a capacitor so we paid an extra $110. He left and didn't flip the switch to turn the furnace back on. We didn't realize it until the heat didn't come on this morning. I called at 6:30 AM and got a call back at 7:45 AM. The heat didn't come on after flipping the switch. The best they could do was to send the same guy out between 2:00 - 3:00. I heard nothing by 3:30 so I called the office. I was told a different Tech would be out, who had two customers IN FRONT OF US! I called back at 4:00 because I hadn't heard anything. I was told he should be here by 4:30. We then called at 5:00 and was told he was on his next to last call and he would be here when that was finished. Jimmy came and took care of the problem. Jose had not only left the switch off, but he didn't turn the gas back on. Overall, except for Jimmy, it was less than a great experience the last 30 hours. I would have expected to have a Tech here before 5:30 PM today.
