They came highly recommended by our now-retired remodeling contractor who has done several projects for us. He still uses R Factor for his own buildings. The on-site crew was excellent. They cleaned up the property every evening before they left for the day and I never found so much as a nail after they left (it helps that they use a big rolling magnet). The crew would take time to explain to us what they were doing and what was wrong with the current roof (part of one roof had dimensional shingles that had been installed in the wrong pattern). Another part of the structure had sheathing boards that were over 100 years old; some boards had damage that they quickly fixed at no extra cost. They also made sure that my weather station and weather vane were reinstalled in the proper orientation. If they left at the end of the day and a section of roof wasn't completed, they would tarp the unfinished section to avoid any damage if rain should occur, even when precipitation wasn't forecast. In all fairness, three of the four workers were the offspring of the company owners, so they knew their family reputation was at stake. The owners were excellent, also. Ted and Trisha were very good at explaining what needed to be done and in helping pick appropriate colors. Before the project started we decided to change the drip edge color; Ted made a special trip out with samples to make sure we had the proper color. There was good communication throughout the project. We had a quick response for our request for a bid. If we had questions and they were not immediately available, they would return our call promptly. I highly recommend R Factor of the North and would definitely use them for future projects. Finally, if you are concerned about some of the older, negative reviews on other sites, know that those reviews reflect the previous owner. Ted and Trisha purchased the business in January 2022; reviews before that date should be taken with a grain of salt.

We spoke at length, and I believe he was at my home for more than an hour, the first time. He understood what I wanted because his quotes reflected what I was interested in doing. After receiving his quotes, I called and spoke with Certainteed, the shingle manufacturer that I preferred, and they told me that Northshore Exteriors had the highest level of certification for their installers and not only gave me peace of mind but this also allowed me to purchase the 50 year transferrable guarantee. I did not feel pressured in the least and I really appreciated that. I went to their office/store several times to review my choices of style and color And before I made the final decision, I went to Wimsatt, who supplies the shingles, and I was able to see the two shingles I was deciding between and which allowed me to make my decision, there and then, as I saw it as it would look on my house. When the crew came to do the shingle/roof removal and installation the foreman, Thomas, was extemely thorough, making sure I knew everything that was happening and why. He also explained to m all of thee problems that they found that caused all of my problems and how they were going to take care of the issue to ensure that my 50 year warranty would hopefully never need to come into play. He was so sweet and professional, as were all of the crew. Speaking of the crew, their work was Excellent and they obviously knew what they were doing. They got to the work site early and stayed long, always cleaning up meticulously behind themselves. I couldn't be happier with the roof, it's Gorgeous. Finally the trim around the windows and the new soffit and fascia came a couple days later and Rex, the foreman for that crew was just as professional and easy to work with as was Thomas. This crew, who specialized in this area of the roof, really knew what they were doing. There were several issues which needed special attention and it was all addressed and no one would know by looking at my home. Roof ridge vents added without cutting out the wood to allow the vent to work. Where other square vents were removed only roofing covered the opening. No building permit pulled for repairing the decking that had 1-1/2" gaps in several areas, 1" gaps on average. No starter strip used. Their sloppy work voided any warranty from the manufacturer of the material.
