Late lunch around 2:30 (not so late in CDMX) before going to the Museo Soumaya. Kept it simple by ordering the shrimp aquachiles appetizer. The shrimp were not very fresh and had a mushy texture. The table legs were imbalanced and kept rocking about an inch in each direction. Asked the server for some napkins to put underneath, but it didn't happen. Ordered the lomo steak entree at medium rare temp. First attempt was raw, cold center (see photos). 2nd attempt was black and blue (photo). 3rd attempt, they brought out a hot iron plate and asked me to cook it myself, which I did happily. The problem was that the steak also tasted off, totally flavorless, no umami, no minerally beef flavor. I added salt and it just tasted like salty, unclassified protein. Yuck.
Didn't finish the shrimp, ate 1 piece of steak. Finished my Coke zero though. Actually helpful that I was able to go to the museum pretty light. About $700 pesos for a satisfying Coke zero. read more
