I ate here on a recent trip to Granada. I don't usually eat pork, but when in Spain ... :) This…read moreham also comes from happy pigs who are acorn-fed and live on a farm that's been operating since (really) 1327. Honestly, this was the best ham and cheese sandwich of my life. I don't know what their secret sauce is, but it's well worth your dollars. The preparation, the aging, the combination of great quality meat with an in-house cheese that is also something to write home about all on its own make for the perfect sandwich. The house made chips are also vinegary, salty, and a perfect complement to their sandwiches. Portions are large enough to split and there's a park with a square across the street where you can eat. 10/10.

After walking past this shop so many times and seeing the abundance of iberico pig legs hanging on…read morethe wall, I was finally seduced by the bocadillos displayed behind the window; those draping slices of jamon iberico just looked so good for only €3.90. Fortunately, the sandwich was just as satisfying as it looked. For their sandwiches, they drape the slices of jamon iberico over the edges of the bread to make it look like a ton of meat, but they really do contain a lot of meat. The sandwiches I have had here contained way more meat than the sandwiches I have had at some other meat shops in Spain. And those velvety thin slices of ham were so rich, savory, and nearly melt in your mouth. Not to mention the bread was good, too. The crusty outside is a nice contrast to the soft ham, and the soft fluffy inside perfectly absorbs the delicious oil from the ham. Just a delicious and cheap bocadillo de jamon iberico that I wouldn't mind getting again. And if you have more money to spend, their freshly sliced ham looks like top quality meat.

walking down the cobbled streets, hoping to eat some tapas for dinner, it's 8pm. i quickly came to…read morerealize the town of Granada has already shutdown due to the Corona virus outbreak (Covid-19). all of Spain goes into "soft" lockdown starting tomorrow 3/16/20 for 2x weeks. as my starving tummy can attest, i was slightly panicked. being isolated all day myself, i did not think establishments would be closing down this "early". heck, it's España. anyway, i see a light coming from this place. shutters are open. i quickly walk over, and this joynt was ready to close! the entire place was all clean, no food in sight. EXCEPT, the person behind the counter saw me, a hungry man, took pity, and with his limited English, understood i needed food. he went back and got the needed supplies to cook me two chicken shawarmas. the shawarmas were pretty decent. the spicy sauce on the side was delicious. thank U for your kindness, sir. i hope you find tremendous success!

Here's the deal with Kebab King: It's your Granada safety net. Stay out too late at the bar?…read more Kebab King is open. Every other place is packed? Kebab King is there. Drunk? Kebab King. It's the equivalent of your go-to college burrito place. When we went, the guy behind the counter was nice. Good English skills, which was a plus. I got a kebab with chicken and beef. I was dismayed to see the dude using his bare hands to flip it on the griddle. (Y'all got a spatula or something? That's going in my mouth.) The chicken and the beef were not great. They tasted dry. The picante sauce he threw on there resurrected the flavor a bit. I was also bummed when my fiancee ordered something with falafel and he threw the ball in the microwave. That's what you're getting, folks. Microwaved and bare-hand manipulated food. That said, it was not the worst thing I've ever put in my mouth. Because so many places in Granada shut down around midnight, you should keep Kebab King in your back pocket for an emergency, but this should not be your first option.
