Tea houses abound off Calle Elvira in Granada. As Sirat represents them well. Think Moorish titles, little booths tucked under colorful lanterns, and sheesha being smoked by locals and foreigners alike. We popped in here for a taste of Moroccan tagine. A set menu at 8.50 euros provided a choice of appetizer, a main dish and tea. I opted for the hummus and a chicken tagine. The hummus was milder than what I've encountered in the USA but freshly prepared and served with a thick pita bread. The tagine's veggies were very overdone but the flavor made up for the softness of the beans and potatoes. Staff was friendly and unobtrusive. Like other restaurants in Spain, they'll let you eat in peace but you'll have to flag them down for service or the bill. The tea was mint, sticky with sweetness. I like my tea without sugar so it was a little overwhelming but fairly typical for a Moroccan cupa! Check this place out if you're hungry and ready to escape the hawkers with their trinkets outside the front door. It's a North African oasis in Spain!

The place is nice and well decorated with classic Moroccan theme. It is a family business and they are very friendly. We ordered the food, dish of the day and starters, It took more than 30 minutes to get the starters, the soup. It tasted ok. Then we had the main dish which was Tajeen. The potions are small to medium size. The service is slow and I kept hearing the microwave with each order before serving. Some people won't mind the microwave, but I do. Especially when I decide to eat something traditional.

4* for decor 4* for tea selection and their cafe con leche 3* for their basmati rice with chicken It's a lovely almost hidden find just down the steps from san nicolas cathedral. There is a menu just for their tea selection. Their decor with the tiles and carving is like the Nasrid palaces with tea service. By the way, if you have room for dessert, the fig biscuit is a must try.

NOTE: the sign above the door says Teteria Assirat. Picture included below. It was a little difficult to find. Great little Moroccan restaurant and tea house. The service was good, seems to be run by a husband/wife team. The husband speaks English if you need it. We had the albondigas and lemon chicken, both were great!

I ordered the house mint lemonade- which was heavenly, so surprisingly sweet and refreshing (I am now addicted).

It tasted a bit old...I think that's the best way to describe it. We had the mint tea, hummus, and lamb for lunch. It came to about 30ish euros which was a little high for how much we had been paying for lunch during our trip (typically 20ish). The mint tea was delicious and I highly recommend it. The hummus was good too! The owner was super nice and had an interesting sense of humor. I'd come back for the mint tea and the company!

You know I gotta check it out. Here is my verdict - mediocre. We ordered three dishes: Nan aka bread with humus. Bread is pre-made. The owner heated it up with a microwave. It tasted like cardboard. This is not the fresh, fluffy nan that I expected. Lamb couscous - Mushy couscous!!! Like what the hell?? The flavor is good but it's a bit too sweet. Meatball Tajine- it's okay. Nothing special. Mint tea - As good as I remember, but again a bit sweeter than I thought. Would I recommend it? If you haven't tried Moroccan food, sure, order the mint tea and give it a try. If you are looking for delicious Moroccan food, you better look somewhere else.

We ordered (they did not, for some reason, serve meat skewers at that time, so we had to order something else more expensive). We ate our food and then asked for the check. I told him I was paying by credit card. He said no. He said their card machine was broken. I said I don't carry cash. He said then we have a problem. I said yes we obviously do. Clearly he knew his card machine was broken when we walked in the door BUT NEGLECTED TO TELL US THIS up front. Nor did he tell us at any point when we were there eating our food. How can you run a restaurant and not accept a credit card, especially in a high tourist area?! He insisted I go to a bank machine and withdraw money. Funny thing is, I normally don't carry a card that I can use in the ATM, but this day I had one. Luckily for him we are honest people and came back with the cash payment. (To add insult to injury, later when we got home we discovered that he did not even put all of our leftover food in the take-home box for us). :( We just moved to a Granada and I love Moroccan food, but I WILL NOT EVER BE BACK TO THE RESTAURANT, nor will I recommend them to anyone. They have lost a potential lifetime customer.

We started off with tea and sweets, I had the vanilla, hubby had the house special, both were delicious! My husband ordered the Lamb Tajin- it was delicious. I got the lentil soup and it was one of the best I've had. The bread was soft and pillowy and best of all was the friendly service. Great experience!

Decided to hang out and see the Alhambra lit up in the night and wanted to kill sometime in the meanwhile. This place looked gorgeous with the outdoor seating and the beautiful bougainvillea trees and we decided to hang out on a whim. Inside of the restaurant has a very Moroccan feel and is very elaborately decorated .The person who was helping us told us after we sat down that they won't serve food as they were fasting but we can get beverages which worked out perfect for us because that's all we wanted . There is a huge tea selection and we settled on one (cant recall the name now ) . It came in cute teapots and tasted delicious. If you like us take your tea sugarless I will highly recommend sweetening it here , it tasted so much better . The service was friendly, but they do overcharge. For the amount you pay, you get a LOT of food. Arabic Bread: Less than €2 for a huge basket of freshly baked bread. It was fluffy inside, crispy on the outside, and had a sour tang to it. This was definitely my favorite part of the meal. Eggplant Salad: cooked in spices like cumin and garlic, the eggplant was succulent but not sloppy. I really enjoyed eating this with my bread. Chicken Cous Cous with Caramelized Onions and Raisins: absolutely delicious. It wasn't overly sweet, and the almonds were the perfect nutty flavor to pair with it. I loved that it came in a clay pot that kept it super hot. The chicken was so tender it fell right off the bone. Though the chicken tasted a little old, the rest of the flavors made up for it. Lamb with Plums: the lamb I thought was a little dry, but we got many large chunks of lamb. Anywhere else this dish would cost €6 or 7 more. The dried plums soaked up a lot of the sauce and added some moisture to the dish. Again, very nicely balanced flavors. Zumo de kiwi, naranja, etc: Nothing special, but I did appreciate it was freshly made with the pulp still in it.
