Their clothing was clean and well placed. Some pretty stellar name brands of good quality (j crew, Colombia etc). The shoe selection was a bit lacking but well placed. Not a ton of furniture but decent stuff. Good book and home good section. Overall The aisles were big and clear. The staff were super kind and efficient. Responded to dressing room bell fast. Very patient with customers not in mask. This place is a real gem. I'll be back.

After you rebuilt after Helene anytime, any day of the week when we come there your Enplyees/Volunteers are no longer friendly. We have always made a point to say Hello walking through the door. And Goodbye because that's who we are and your people would greet us coming and going. I raised 4 kids with stuff I purchased from you and I redonated things we didnt need because I was told originally your proceeds helped children. I have always lived in Asheville I would drive to Black mountain just to go to your store. I stopped shopping with you in June because the very least you can do is greet your customers.

I volunteered at this location for the second time recently…read more Because of the rising prices of everything from clothing to food, this thrift store is THE best place to shop. Not only are there top quality items, some never used, but the prices are so much lower than other thrift and retail stores, especially in this area. You can find everything from furniture to food here. The clothing is separated by size and color making it easier to find a specific item. There are both staff and volunteers working here so there's always someone available who will be happy to help. All electrical items are tested before being put out on the sales floor and there is a table with an outlet so you can test the item yourself. All proceeds go directly to the children's home. It's one of my favorite places to shop and volunteer! They are closed Sunday and Monday. They open at 10:00 AM on other days. I am counting the days until I can go back.

When I took my wife to the counter with a pair of hastily sewn together elastic waisted pants she wanted to knock around in the mountains for the weekend, I double checked the price. I asked are these really $5.99? and was told "yep". End of discussion. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the local Goodwill. At least the prices are better. You can get exactly the same jeans at the Goodwill on Tunnel Road for half the price.

This is the BEST vintage store I have ever been in, and I do a LOT of vintage shopping, from NY to FL. I was completely knocked out by H of K because: 1) They have larger sized women's clothing! Several dresses that were probably size 10-12 which is super rare since most vintage is size 2-4. 2) They have men's clothes - a lot of them. Most vintage stores have a lot of women's items and hardly any men's, but H of K is about 40% menswear. 3) EVERYTHING is in immaculate condition. The prices reflect this, but nothing I thought was out of reach since you're buying one of a kind, well made clothing. To be clear, this is vintage, not thrift. Some of the items are up to 100 years old, so you can't expect it's going to be $5. 4) Woman working there was so nice! Not pretentious, not pushy, not overbearing, but welcoming--and very sweet when I asked if I could take pictures for my review. 5) There is NO junk or random crap - it's obvious that someone has a keen eye for beautiful things and thoughtfully puts them together in collections. When we visited, there were selections of kimonos, smoking jackets, leather capes (!), summer dresses, etc. What's amazing is that it would be 8-20 of each "genre" so you have a pick of colors and sizes... it's not just one random cape or top hat. There's also home items sprinkled throughout, but in a way that is intentional and curated (like the wool camp blankets in the men's section, vintage quilts near a small section of kids' clothes, selection of aluminum thermoses by the outerwear). 6) I collect vintage women's hats and the selection at H of K is exquisite. Very fine examples of 40's/50's hats in absolute mint condition, and fairly priced. I went a bit bonkers taking pictures of everything - this shop is an absolute dream, and I wish I lived closer so I could visit every weekend. House of Kismet is an incredibly rare combination of incredible items and friendliness.

Then, after selling at a deceptive split - it is Excessively Difficult to get paid. Have shopped here and bought accent pieces and a couple ~high$ items - had NO idea how badly consigners were being ripped off. Have consigned items with ethical businesses for years, in multiple cities, and had a MCM booth in an ethical antique mall in another state for 6yrs. Have never seen such a scammy business model. Highly advise steering clear.

We spent Black Friday here instead of the shopping frenzy at the mall…read more We picked this location because in a nicer area so probably better donations and believe we did well. We recycled about 125$ worth of clothes between the 4 of us and everyone left happy. We all left with lots of clothes and smiles. All the shirts were 4.95 I think and I got 4 or 5 great ones and a Keurig pod holder that is on my coffee bar. Our family goes to Goodwill on most of our towns we visit and this was no exception other than we often visit Asheville and will be back here soon!
