I've driven by ArtServe on east Sunrise Blvd many times so finally I stopped. The building houses ArtServe, the Broward County Library and the World Aids Museum. There is plenty of parking in adjacent surface lot. The art gallery it self only requires an hour or less to see everything. They have performance based classes, special events and workshops. While I was there 4 ladies were participating in a turn off painting class. Hours are Monday - Friday 9-6 and Saturday 10-6

Just visited ArtServe for the first time last Friday night for an awards ceremony. The Veterans exhibit was very interesting and worth looking at. Unusual for modern art, it was easily comprehended with near-universal appeal. Many museums these days are filled with either very old art that is fascinating or new stuff that is self-referential, hard to understand and very negative. Lots of agendas beyond learning. Other nice features: plenty of free parking and a facility with big windows allowing lots of natural light - plus a good sized auditorium. Great place for parties, receptions and conferences with an added air of culture. Also within short driving distance of Fort Lauderdale's many hotels and restaurants.

So happy to be back here! I've not been here since before Covid started. Art Serve is an open space for different artists to display their work. They do have some smaller separate rooms as well. The art is for sale so bring your credit card. Tonight was an art exhibit with a mix of different artists.

ArtServe is located in the library on Sunrise Blvd. Also located in this building is the Stonewall Museum and National Archives. Art Serve provides programs, resources, facilities and training for the arts community. The gallery and gift shop features the work of South Florida artists. A list of classes and events can be found on the ArtServe website. The current exhibit is DBA 219: Textured which features the work of 14 artists who are graduates of the Artist as an Entrepreneurs Institute. Admission to ArtServe is free. I wholeheartedly endorse any organization that supports the arts. One thing to keep in mind is that this building is at the edge of a park that has a large number of homeless people in it. They do wander over to the parking lot and if you want to use the bathroom at ArtServe you have to ask the library for a key. Memberships are available for people who want to support ArtServe.

I attended the Latinos Salud Hispanic Heritage Food Bazaar 2019 at Artserve on Sunrise Blvd. Colorfully dressed men and women were everywhere serving fabulous foods from various Latin American countries. There was an open bar. Drag shows and other singing performances were featured. It was a terrific time for everyone. The crowd and vendors were all very friendly and festive. A doctor spoke about how South Florida is number one in the country for new HIV-AIDS cases. Various handouts and informational material were presented. It was an educational as well as a party atmosphere. My wife, Diane and I had a great evening meeting new friends and enjoying the spectacular food! Awards were given out to the vendors for the best food! It was a wonderful event!

If you're like me and have a certain unquenchable thirst for art, especially works of local artists, ArtServe, Inc. is must see. Located within the Sunrise Boulevard branch library it epitomizes the best of what are local cultural art developments. Though small and not taking all that much time to view, it has an excellent setup of displays with lighting perfect for viewing its works. The displays vary and it also has a small store offering items of art for sale with the thought of encouraging and assisting artists in turning their art talents into a profitable business. I might also add that the staff or volunteers who work here are some of the most pleasant and helpful people to be found anywhere. Though on first blush one might not think it to be all that much of a place it really is by comparison to the many other such local art cultural or local NEA supported centers I've seen. Hence, using such as my basis of comparison I'm going Five Stars on it.

We looked forward to shopping and ending at the Foodcourt- the Sbarro had a huge hot and cold buffet! The last time I was here was in 2014 when they updated the food court and it was fabulous! I've been reading about the new plans and how decrepit it is now. I decided to stop by after Church to see for myself I parked in the Orange Lot and came up the escalator and went right to Macy's! I was extremely impressed with Macy's. A huge beautiful store. Great sales and I actually bought a gorgeous skirt! So as I see the mall it's like having 2 separate malls the half in front of Macy's looks like a full beautiful mall! Today, because it was raining, it was pretty busy! The Apple store was packed! Some great shopping options! Free Parking! Then I went to the other side by the food court and Dillards .., now I understand some of the negative reviews.. Half empty! The H&M is amazing! Huge store! Dillard's is great! The Restaurants ate first class and were very busy! I ate at the Capital Grille. P.F.Chang, Seasons 62 and the Blue Martini' First, I would fire your Development Realtor! After eating I popped over to check them out. There was some really interesting and thought provoking pieces. Standout pieces were the Matchstickmen by Wolfgang Stiller. He takes elements from Baroque, Rococo, and the Renaissance and adds space helmets. There was also Korean artist Kim Byung Joo's three dimensional architectural sculptures and the interesting portraitures by Rogelio Manzo influenced by his Mexican heritage. A fanciful Snoopy wall hanging filled with actual Snoopy dolls brought a smile to my face as did a Darth Vader made out of Darth Vader Lego's. Other artists they represent include Alejandro Vega Beuvrin, Brendan Murphy, Dominic Besner, Mozart Guerra, Katharina Arndt, Ali Alışır, TecFase, and Banksy.
