We had such a fun time at K Live Karaoke at The Wharf!…read more We booked one of the small rooms, which is supposed to accommodate up to 10 people. There were six of us, and I'd say that was the perfect number to be comfortable. You could fit 10, but it would definitely be a little cramped. We ordered several different food items and drinks, and everything I had was good. The food did take a while to come out after we ordered, but honestly, we were having so much fun singing and enjoying ourselves that it didn't bother us too much. My only other small complaint was the song-search keyboard. Instead of a standard QWERTY keyboard, the letters are arranged alphabetically, which made searching for songs a little challenging at first. That said, there were PLENTY of songs to choose from across all different genres, so everyone was able to find something they wanted to sing. The best indication of how much fun we had? We ended up extending our time because nobody was ready to leave! Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend K Live Karaoke for a fun night out with friends. I'd absolutely go back!

The server was great with explaining everything and checking up on everyone. I do wish the 2 hours started at the time of check in because we checked in within the 15 minute grace period, which cut our time off a little short. The keyboard to type is also a bit strange as it's in alphabetical order instead of the standard keyboard. Overall, it's nice in here with the lights and you can tell everything is new.

I took too long to make up my mind regarding food and the item that was recommended to me wasn't on the late night menu. Once we got to the karaoke room we had a great time. We had one instance where we heard the feedback from another room but the staff came and fixed it; any time we used the bell for assistance them came quickly. The food was amazing and everything was so fresh it was almost too hot (temperature wise) to eat. The pork gyoza were delicious. I was also able to make substitutions to the bulgogi fried rice (just onions, no other veggies, with eggs, and added shrimp). Loved the presentation of the rice but it tasted it even better, pretty sure I demolished it in about 15 mins once it cooled down. The mango mochi was a perfect sweet touch after the food. When we left around midnight (on a Saturday) there was a dj in the front bar area and space had been cleared for a dance floor. Definitely recommend for a fun weekend outing!

When it comes to events, everything is at the…read morelobby once you walk in and it's filled with neon lights, a dimly lit bar full of many offerings of alcohol you can get, a few small sections for VIP for your friends, and usually a DJ playing their music. There's open karaoke as well but I don't know if people sing often in the lobby. So I have been here many times for my friends and even booked a room as well. Rooms are spacious and they do have pretty nice audio. But there is one thing that truly irks me every time I come here. So they have a touch screen where you can add your karaoke songs through YouTube or through their system but getting the videos to load is a pain. It's annoying to deal with because it skips to the next song in queue so if you are with a group of 5+ more people, it can be very stressful. The worst part is we asked the staff about it and they aren't really sure what to do about the connection. I mean they should really fix that because I'm sure it gets people upset. No one wants their song to be skipped. Aside from that, you can also hear the loudness from other rooms, I don't expect that to be an issue but it's noticeable on busy nights. If you do plan to go here, there's one thing I highly advise before going. Check their socials if they are hosting any event and call ahead to know about the room rates. The website shows their original flat rates for the room but in events, they raise the prices up. If you go in person, check the menu before deciding to put your money down. This place also adds gratuity to the bill so be prepared to drop down a lot. While I frequently come back here just to hang out with friends, karaoke is one of my favorite hobbies. Its never a good time when your song doesn't get played or you get charged way more than you should.

It's easy to find and situated in a great spot. The venue is very clean and you can tell immediately when you walk in. The host greeted me, I told them I was here for a friend, I showed them my ID and was guided to the room. The song selections were great! It's a spacious room and we didn't feel cramped. There also a great selection for food and drinks. Absolutely loved my time here!

My takeout was ready in timely fashion, and there was definitely some quality there. My kung pao tofu was a little sweet as the dish normally is, but also amply spicy as I requested and came with plenty of peanuts, extra-crispy tofu, and a few other vegetables. Lo mein was a fairly straightforward soy-garlic affair, though I must say I appreciated the option to add some tofu to that as well. My spring rolls came sauceless and were fairly basic and cabbage-y, but a decent way to round out a meal. I appreciated their thorough vegetarian labeling; of course some things were not available to me that I wish they would make vegetarian, but the most important thing is being able to make informed decisions. I skipped the ma po tofu this time, but they claim it offers genuine numbing sensations and they did enough to convince me that it might be worth coming back to try.

There was some confusion on if it was still closed for a private event or not and staff at the front gave us conflicting info. Upstairs was a nice spot, bar is large and they have tables and bar tables. They have some TVs and an area for darts, even though its kind of right where patrons sit so drunk person playing darts could get ya. We started off with Guinnesses and they were tasty, they were just super cold, making it hard to do the new fad of splitting the G. Bartenders were solid and we ordered some potato skins and the jameson oysters to try. Both were pretty good, typical bar food but a nice take. Biggest negative was the restrooms upstairs - really need a facelift, pretty grungy and the mens bathroom was out of toilet paper, paper towels, and soap which is pretty gross.

Introduction to my Scrapbook series & health update to start Scrapbook series:…read more Starting a new Yelp series: Scrapbook series, stuff from Scrapbooks of my now 15 years living in the DC area. I'll have various # of reviews per year. I moved to Alexandria from Arizona on Saturday, October 15, 2011. As a 27 year old at the time and being new to town, I wanted to check out the bar scene in various places like DC, Clarendon, other areas of Arlington, & the city I lived in Alexandria, more specifically Old Town. My scrapbook series of reviews will likely go into 2027 (but I'll get some done from 8/31 to whenever things get bad for me) as I may not be getting much if any Yelp reviews done in October-November time range due to high dose chemo with stem cell replacement. You never imagine what life throws your way. Sure, I had various issues when I was kid, teen, & in 20's, but pails in comparison to 40's for me. In the 20's, job situation was unstable, dating/women drama, etc. But you never imagine that at 15 year anniversary of being in DC area having to do high dose chemo. My experience at Murphy's in October 2011 & beyond: When I lived in Alexandria, this was my #1 favorite & go to bar. I liked a good Irish pub over some club or some generic bar, although I enjoyed some of those to in my 20's. Murphy's staff was cordial here, and beer was good. They had some music at times and could be crowded on a weekend. My 1st weekend in the DC area was October 15-16, 2011, I was busy with moving & settling in and starting job on that Monday. Following weekend I explored DC amongst other fun things. On the 3rd weekend, Friday, October 28, 2011, I explored the Old Town Alexandria bar scene and stumbled across Murphy's Irish Pub. It was also Halloween weekend and there were some people in costumes. I got a chick's phone #. Her name was Adele, like the singer. Tried to get a date with her but never panned out as she claimed to be busy with whatever else. I went to Murphy's a few other times and always enjoyed. I included pic of the October 2011 receipt from my scrapbook. I'm going to take a pic of each thing from scrapbook as that'll take more time, but I had to include the first thing at the very least. All the stuff in for the 2011-2017 living in Virginia era businesses included are just receipts.
