I went to broadcast journalism for school and it's very on par with what you would get out of an elite school. The value that you get from here is you get to learn because they help you along the way with editing as well if that's what you choose to do but ultimately it's a great facility a great campus.

They have serious administrative gaps, and it's not always easy to get accurate information. But it really is a great resource for people who live in Manhattan and would like access to the courses and equipment they offer. People are friendly and actually seem to care about what they are doing, which makes for a really lovely environment.

In order for you to get into the book signing you had to make a purchase at the bookstore. The line for the bookstore was extremely long. I waited in line for almost 2 hours. It was hot that day and the AC units in the building weren't doing enough. This building is big but I felt as though they didn't utilize the space appropriately. I was able to get my books signed and that was enough for me. The team in charge of this festival needs to get organized and work better as a team.

I wanted to tuft a rug for a gift, and I remembered Queens CM Sam mentioning this studio (see her…read morebubble tea rug!). It was easy to book online. I opted for a custom design (they have some pretty neat standard designs, but I wanted something specific), and uploaded 3 design options when I booked. They reached out to me by email within 1.5 weeks for approval, and my design was ready and sketched out on canvas when I arrived. Parking wasn't difficult, but make sure to read the street signs, because some streets are no parking or standing during the day! I arrived early (make sure to take the elevator!) and after confirming my name and filling out the liability form, I was welcomed to browse the yarn colors. They had picked some out already for my design, but I was free to swap any out. You can even change out the colors for the standard designs, as my fellow tuft-ers chose to do. Thanks to Taylor for teaching us the ropes (we were first timers!) and helping us through the whole experience! She was mostly hands off once we got started, but was open to helping out. Towards the end, she looked over our rugs and helped by pointing out parts that could be filled more so that the rug comes out much nicer. Note: you are free to bring food and drinks, but there is limited space on the table. I ate prior to arriving, but did have a drink with no issues. Be prepared to be there for at least a couple hours. I spent a little over 3 hours tufting their 27x27" frame (as did my fellow tuft-ers). They finish your rug by trimming, gluing and shaving it, which is supposed to take 3-6 weeks. I got antsy at the 6 week mark, so I sent them an email. I received an email the following day that my rug was ready for pick up (phew!). You can request for it to be delivered for a fee, but I wanted to pickup, so I went the following day. Pickup was smooth and very friendly. She helped roll up my rug and secure with a yarn for easy transport. My rug came out better than I expected! Overall, a cool and fun experience for a newbie like me!

It's good to practice for a bit on the scrap before you start on the pattern so that you get the feel of the pressure and how to control the direction of the gun. The class itself is set for 2 hrs but most people are allowed to stay after to finish. Then you pick it up 3 weeks later for the studio to glue shave and have it set.

It's one of the most affordable options for wheel throwing, which has always been on my list to try, so when reservations were opening on Monday for the following week, I was ready to book. The reservations do sell out quickly as this is super popular. It's $49 for the 2 hour class They provide you with everything you need and you get to watch a quick demo and then try to throw as many pieces as you want/can in the time allotted. In the end, you are only allowed to choose one piece to fire, which will be ready for your to pick up the following week. A lot of attendees either went along or with a friend. I can definitely see this as a fun girls night or a date night activity. The wheel throwing is definitely harder than it looks and I definitely struggled before I could kind of find my groove and figure out the intricacies of the wheel and clay. Given the price and value, the teacher to student ratio was 1:20 so a bit more difficult to get some 1:1 coaching but the teacher was very attentive and walked around and helped when you shouted. The activity does get messy so they recommend you to wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. They do provide you aprons and clay does wash out but do be prepared to get clay down your arms and on your legs too. It was a fun beginner course into wheel throwing and I would love to come back to try it again. Practice does make perfect. I think they used to offer it on Monday's and Wednesday's but lately I've only seen the Monday classes.

We've been wanting to try Pottery NYC since it's so close to our home, so we finally made…read morereservations for a Monday evening and decided to give it a shot. The weather was not on our side that day--it had been raining nonstop and the trains were a mess, so our instructor was running late. Thankfully, another team member was kind enough to let the group in and get us started, which we really appreciated. The studio itself is thoughtfully set up and very organized. Each person has their own throwing wheel, and they provide everything you need to get started, including an apron and clay. The instructor walks you through the process step by step, so even if you've never touched a pottery wheel before, you can jump right in. A quick tip: wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty! Pottery is definitely a hands-on experience, and you will get clay everywhere. I struggled a bit with getting my piece centered, so my final creation wasn't exactly museum-worthy, but that was honestly part of the fun. There's something very satisfying about trying something completely new and learning along the way. The pieces need time to be glazed and fired in the kiln, so plan to come back about a week later for pickup. Overall, it was a fun and relaxing experience, and we're glad we finally checked out this local spot. It's a great activity for a date night, a group outing, or anyone looking to try something different.

He taught me everything he knows about mixing in a very chill non formal manner which I appreciate. The teachers are all very friendly and make themselves available for their students. Once you become part of the academy it's like you become part of the Garnish family for life (if you choose to keep that connection!) The class sizes are small and the curriculum has recently been revised to optimize productivity. They also do additional courses on beat-making, film scoring and vocal recording. For breakfast I sampled 2 of the mini quiches, one bacon and the other wild mushroom. Lunch buffet included faro salad, roasted veggies, salmon and chicken and a lobster ravioli, all restaurant quality. Enjoyed the portraits of the Board of Directors in the elevator lobby and the autumn view of NYU Law and Washington Square Park, made this an enjoyable corporate event.
