Best place for jewelry in all of Sonoma County! The store is beautiful, always full of fresh flowers and helpful staff who remember you and even what your partner's style is if you've been in a few times before! They have two huge binders of wish lists so you can look up someone if you have no idea what to get them. So happy to have them around!! read more

I'm downgrading my review. Their selection is still great, but 1 or 2 of the staff have some attitude. They were unnecessarily snotty to my sister, who lives in town. She was treated rudely because she used a gift certificate (which I gave her) and did not spend more money than the certificate was for. This was the second time that they have been pretentious - last time it was to me when I asked them if they could hang on to a very large item that I bought there while I ran next door. They were extremely put out. I wasn't asking to leave it overnight, just 2 minutes so I didn't have to carry it in the rain while I picked up an item next door. One more time and I won't go back. I've bought several gifts for others and myself here. They have a great selection of jewelry from contemporary artists (including some local). The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about what they sell. I bought beautiful metal wire basket & a few other odds & ends. They carry a good variety of things to choose from for gifts or accessories for your home. read more

I have been coming here for at least 7 years now. This last July, I used a gift certificate I'd been holding onto since December while they were having their sidewalk sale. I wound up purchasing an incredibly beautiful pair of earrings, and a really lovely vase and had to come out of pocket $2. Not bad. I shop here for gifts for friends and family, and was happy to finally be able to get a little something for myself (at someone else's expense even!). In my experiences of the last many years, the people working here are always friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I'd LOVE to be able to afford their really high-end jewelry, because they have some incredibly unique and beautiful pieces, but for now, I'll stick to what I can afford and continue to support this business. read more

I have been shopping at Artisana for the last 15 years and I am consistently impressed with their selection of beautiful and unique jewelry, home goods, and generally wonderful things. I no longer live in Sonoma County, but I was visiting recently (and bought the most stunning bracelet!) and mentioned that two pairs of earrings I had purchased at least 10 years ago and had worn into the ground had broken. Tej and Mari offered to help coordinate the repair with the original artist and generously covered the cost on this occasion. I received my earrings in the mail today and they are perfectly fixed and I am looking forward to wearing them soon. Artisana has been my favorite gift and jewelry store in Sonoma County for years. They carry handmade leather journals (made locally), ceramics, candles, etc. as well as a wide array of unusual jewelry lines. Their price range is pretty varied - I have bought some hammered hoops by a local jeweler there for $30 and admired a gorgeous $500 ring there as well. When I don't have any money to buy but want an artistic "fix" I go in for notecards and to look at the displays- kind of like visiting a museum with a casual atmosphere. I like being able to afford unusual hand crafted gifts and it's nice that they offer complimentary gift wrap - just tissue and wrapphia but free! read more

I was staying near the Russian River this weekend. My friend and I were shopping around Main Street in Sebastopol on Sunday, when we wandered into this store. We loved all of the beautiful housewares and leather wallets. We were on the hunt for a new wallet for my friend's 15 year old daughter. We were near the back of the store and noticed the decorative iron dividers leading out to the yard behind the store. Like many stores, we thought perhaps there was a garden out back, with more items for purchase. There was absolutely no sign indicating it was off limits to customers, so my friend, her son and my daughter wandered out back while I stayed behind looking at the glasses. We were shocked and surprised to suddenly be accosted and yelled at by an employee of the store. Instead of kindly (normally) asking us not to go outside, she screamed fiercely and angrily out the back door, to "Come back here, right now!" and "You are not allowed back there!" and then marched back behind the glass case in the front. At first, I thought the woman was another customer yelling at her own child, but then, we realized she was in fact, an employee and actually yelling at us! I stood in disbelief , because of course, she could have just let me know that we were not to go outside, as I was standing right next to her. Before making our way out of the store, shaken and upset, I suggested to her that perhaps a sign letting people know not to go out back might be helpful, and a bit of kindness could also help. She rudely snapped, "Oh, thank you, I'll take your suggestion, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!". I have NEVER been treated in such a way, anywhere, ever! It truly ruined our afternoon and left all of us feeling berated and chastised. We had to explain to our children that they did absolutely nothing wrong, and that sometimes adults, in fact, do the wrong thing and act inappropriately. Needless to say, we will sadly never feel comfortable returning to Artisana in either location, which is really unfortunate, as we live in San Francisco and go up to the River quite often. I usually do not write negative reviews on Yelp, because I know how it can affect a place of business permanently. However I am compelled to do so in this case, as I cannot sit by and allow this to happen to another customer! Enter at your own risk! read more

I wandered into Artisana one afternoon to look at rings for my wedding. I have been hesitant to disclose that I am looking for wedding rings to shops because I do not like to feel pressured. But Artisana was amazing. Each staff member ( I went back several times on different days) , was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. I never felt pressured and was provided several options. I found a ring that I never would have sought out on my own, by one of the staff who told me all about the artist and the unique qualities about her work. I had a similar experience as Amarar's sister, in terms of the attitude. I was given a gift here and it wasn't my style. I was told that it could be exchanged but when I went in there, the attitude of the owner was condescendingly rude and she did not honor her promise to exchange the item. Artisana has lovely, unique items for sale. The jewelry selection is varied, plentiful and tempting with lots of other unique arts and crafts to make you drool. Good selection of Oberon wallets and journals. You won't find these things at a mall or Macy's. My reason for the two stars is the lousy service. Uhmmmm, no service! I would've loved to try on a few things as I'm in the market for a ring or two. However, not long after entering and checking out the first case of jewelry I headed for the back of the shop to check on a few things that caught my eye and was met with a most impolite and unwelcoming sneery- glare from the shopkeeper. I'll admit I wasn't dressed "to the nines" as they say, indeed I was attired in more comfortable garb for my intended day of commuting and shopping. But the woman attending the store was downright rude. I remained in the shop for a good 5 minutes or so and was never greeted by a hello, can I show you something? I'll be with you in a moment or how is your day going? A long time ago I learned the lesson of not judging folks by their appearances. I was working at Joseph Magnin's when a woman came in wearing outdoor work clothes covered in dirt. My co-worker dismissed her as someone not to spend any time on, to my benefit. The customer turned out to be both wonderful and filthy rich and bought buttloads of boots and Charles Jordan shoes. I made some money and a great client connection.
