If you're looking for wonderfully made and affordable artisan soaps, you've come to the right place! The Artisan Soapery is a quaint shop located in Old Historic Downtown Hickory. It is very light and inviting, with very friendly staff. They make most of their soaps in their back room, while other products are either locally made or made in America. Their soaps come in a variety of smells, including various fruits and florals. My favorite soap smell they sold and bought was their honey lavender. Each soap is $6.50. Don't forget to check-in on Yelp, since there are sometimes special deals applicable to your purchase. Not only do they have different hand soap bars, but they also sell shampoo bars, body wash bars, and special mens' beard soaps. If you'd like to test the smell of the soap, there is a sink in the back with small soap samples you can test out. Amazing and beautiful products, store, and owner!! I absolutely love the Phoenix soap and the Hungarian lavender deodorant, they smell delightful. The soap and deodorant leave my skin feeling soft and smooth without any uncomfortable residue, and it's gentle on sensitive skin. The owner is sweet, polite and helpful. The Artisan Soapery beckoned us to enter with a tantalizing fragrance that wafted our way through the open door, and we were powerless to resist. The seductive scents came from a variety of handcrafted skin care products and candles that are beautifully displayed inside the shop. We met the owner, Katye, who creates all of these amazing products in her home town of Hanford, CA. She gave us taste tests of the scrumptious line of handmade jams that she carries while we browsed. I'm a sucker for beautifully scented soaps, and Katye has created some amazing blends, everything from those familiar expected blends like lavender vanilla, oatmeal milk & honey, and cherry blossom, to more exotic combinations such as honeysuckle with notes of jasmine, tuberose, nectarine, sandalwood, and musk. Yes, that last one combined subtle notes of all 6 scents, simply heaven. All her soaps are handmade and organic; some contain goats milk, but many of them are based on coconut oil and are therefore vegan, a big bonus for my family as my mom is vegan. They have even created a line of natural soaps for our canine friends (check out the photos, they're adorable). In addition to the soaps they are named for, Artisan Soapery also carries a line of skin products such as shampoos and conditioners, lotion, face scrub, essential oils, even diaper rash cream. I popped in here on my last day in Morro Bay and found all the smells enticing but not too over powering. The products are locally made and I believe all natural. The person working at the shop was discussing their process of making the soaps with another customer and I found myself listening in. It seems they put a lot of care and love in to their batches of wonderfully smelling soaps. I'm so overloaded right now on lotions and bar soaps so I didn't make any purchases this time around. I have ordered many times from this company recently. It started as just trying to find any hand sanitizer. When mine arrived, it was neatly packaged, without leaks. It smells and feels fantastic! My hands have been drying out from using so much hand sanitizer and washing my hands frequently, as I have been a healthcare worker, working during the pandemic. I have since ordered for birthdays and as Mother's Day Gifts. The soaps are soothing as well and the Scents are not too strong. I highly recommend this company for their products, but also for their customer service. My order was placed online, but any changes were accommodated simply by calling. So much to chose from it can be hard to pick, but this place smells so good and has become one of my go to stores when I need to buy gifts for others. We happened to find ourselves in this store after passing by. The scent of the soaps caught our attention and I'm so glad because the soaps are so nice. We bought a lychee red yeah soap and the cherry almost soap. Yum!!!!! The cherry almond soap is made with goat milk which the owner explained to us was fresh milk from the goat of her neighbor. Now if that isn't fresh, I don't know what is! We have been using the soap and we looooove them! She says we can order online (since we live 4 hours away) so we were excited to hear that. read more

I purchased some vegan facial soap. I have always had problem skin from a teenager and after using this soap, my skin is as clear as it's ever been (and I'm 42 now!). I even have my teenage daughter using it with great results. I also have some Lovestruck scented soap that is wonderful smelling and leaves my skin soft even without lotion. This is a wonderful soap shop in beautiful Morro Bay! I was immediately greeted by the very friendly owner when I walked in, and had the greatest time chatting with her and selecting my favorites...all smelling SO good! I ended up leaving the store with several bars, a few tubes of the best lip balm I've ever tried, and a new soap-loving friend. :) About the soap itself...these are hefty bars, weighing in at around 6.5 ounces each. They are each beautiful works of art, but that didn't stop me from using them immediately! These are creamy, luscious, buttery bars of soap, and left my skin feeling great. I'm so happy I found this shop, and will definitely return next time I'm in the area. My husband bought me a basket of goodies for Christmas from Artisan Soapery two years ago and I've been hooked ever since! I have oily, sensitive, acne prone skin and my skin is completely clear now! My favorites are the face cream, toner, and the fountain of youth face soap! I also love everything in the Morro Bay Breeze scent, and the Apple Cider scent. I visited Artisan Soapery right after it opened in Hickory, NC and met the owner at the same time. The shop is big and products are displayed so that one can see, and smell, them easily. Katye, the owner, is very helpful and will explain about how the products work or even suggest products to help different skin issues. I buy the soap often as gifts and my friends always appreciate the gift. At Christmas, she had many different products available and I bought beard and skin treatments for the guys in my family. Right now, Katye is helping our community by making hand sanitizer that doesn't hurt sensitive skin. It smells so good and keeps the skin soft and moist with added aloe. I keep a bottle in my car and all over the house. My son keeps it at work and my husband is using it, too. We stumbled into the shop while visiting NC and fell in love! My daughter has extremely thin hair that tangles into a head of knots each morning, I literally have a drawer of different detanglers that do not work, the hair revival spray is amazing! It makes the knots come undone and I can brush through her hair without pulling or causing breakage. To top it off all of her products are safe and natural. read more

I was vacationing in Morro Bay over St. Patrick's Day weekend. When I saw the "bath bombs" sign, I just had to stop in & check it out. The owner was so friendly & helpful. I love the way the displays were set up. The atmosphere was very relaxed & comfortable. I had to sniff every bar & even my HUSBAND was interested. I let him pick out the bar he liked best & he chose "Dragon's Blood". It looks amazing & I can't wait to try it out! If you come to Morro Bay, you MUST stop in there & check out their products! This store is adorable! It carries the most delicious smelling handcrafted soaps and candles. The owner is a friendly, talented and inspiring woman; she was a pleasure to meet in person. The store also carries artisan handcrafted items such as purses and jewelry and edibles such as herbal teas and local organic honey. I visited Morro Bay from Laguna Beach, the quaint community of the central coast was so inviting and I happened to stumble upon Morro Bay since my the Pismo trip city area was booked up. I love handmade soap and goodies of the sort. I found this adorable little shop and purchased some locally made goodies, or so I thought. I tried the Cherry Almond and a few other items, I had a severe allegoric reaction to the Soap or lotion. I reached out to the owner twice via email and No response, nothing. So I did a little more research on the company and found out that not only are the products of low quality but they are not made in Morro Bay like the label says. The owner lives in the central valley near Fresno and the soaps are NOT MADE IN MORRO BAY. So much for my souvenir from the central coast but then again red welts on my skin from the cherry almond I guess are souvenir enough. read more
