While waiting for my flight, I grabbed breakfast at Artisan Marker. My selection was the Rise & Shine Panini (ham, eggs, gouda, provolone, swiss, dijon aioli, levain), a Kind bar, and bottle of my favorite Ito En green tea. The wait was rather long, but it went pretty fast. I ordered and paid at the front counter and my sandwich was ready for pick up at the back counter where the grill was. The layout as a bit backwards and space was tight, so I found myself having to move constantly so people wouldn't run into me. Overall, I really enjoyed my sandwich. The cheese was melted and the bread was crispy, what's there not to love? It was a rather large sandwich for $15 and I could only eat half. Very tasty! read more

5 stars for just the customer service alone! Not bad for an airport cafe, although I don't frequent restaurants too much when I fly. However, this one was worth the stop and dinner. I ordered the caprese panini; it came with a little side salad of spring mix with a balsamic vinaigrette. They also have a couple of different BLTs and breakfast sandwiches to choose from. Everything was good, my only complaint is that the panini could have been a little bit more flavorful. We there for a late evening flight and like I said, the customer service was great; thank goodness this place was still open for a decent airport meal. read more

I ended up spending much more time here than I expected, as my flight was delayed (and ultimately cancelled! But that story is for another day...). However, I was glad there was a good spot to hang out, watch the Olympics, grab one last good San Diego beer, and charge my phone. The guy working behind the bar was nice enough to let me taste a few of the beers before going for a Modern Times can. I also ended up getting a rather pricey and ok avocado and turkey sandwich. There are better options at the airport. Over expensive even for an airport, under average food quality and terrible service. After expending good amount of money they refused an extra mini cup of cream cheese for cheese bagel that didn't come with enough cheese to cover the surface of bagel. read more

I'm happy with what they offer here. There is a small bar area and the bartender is really nice and my conversation with her was very pleasant. That goes a long way with me! There is a lovely smell of baking chocolate chip cookies and people seem to be enjoying their drinks or whatever food they ordered. They serve coffee, sandwiches and salads, and the prices are decent for an airport. Decided to order a berries, roasted chicken and cashew salad to take on the plane from the bartender and it came in literally one minute, which is important at an airport. As far as the actual comfort here, the chairs are not the most comfortable and it is a bit cold. There is a sound system with good bluesy type music on, but it does not appear to be a good sound system. I'm glad it's not too loud. Will definitely stop by here again when flying American Airlines. read more

Nice convenient place to grab a coffee and bakery item before your flight. You can get just about everything you may want, deli sandwich, beer, soda, breakfast, lunch...snack. You're at the mercy of what is available near your gate and although there is a variety of food, drinks, and snacks, common courtesy doesn't seem to be on the menu here (this morning)....yeah...I'm tired too it's early morning but I'm not getting paid to be a customer here. So, a good morning or hello instead of a curt...we don't open until 5:00 before I even say anything...would be nice. But...whatever...probably the nicest people the rest of the day. There is a Pankin, Stone Brewery, Firewood Cafe all in one spot so it's a good place to get something for everyone in one place. It's a trendy looking place, clean and inviting. Settling in right around 3.5 stars, this place offers friendly service but at rather steep prices. Situated just after the TSA check point, you can grab your coffee here if you don't feel like walking but they also have pastries and sandwiches. We were hungry from work around 9:30 AM so I ordered the Breakfast Pesto Wrap until I learned the pesto is mayonnaise based and ended up with scrambled eggs, basil, tomato and roasted potatoes in a tortilla with feta cheese. I liked it! Kind of expensive though for over $13. Still, the sandwich held me from morning until the afternoon after over 3 miles of walking. I appreciated the paper takeout containers they use. Be very careful in using your credit card. On the morning of August 17 I was charged for coffee and muffins. As I was walking away the kid at the register called me back saying the charge didn't go through and needed to swipe my card again. He handed me the checkout device asking for a tip so I swiped and moved on. I ednded up getting charged twice on my credit card and must go through the hassle of disputing the double charge. I'm always on the lookout for good airport eats and after two visits to the San Diego airport, I'm happy to report that I have my go-to place. The Artisan Market has several things going for it: 1) Hot sandwiches, 2) Fresh salads, 3) Gourmet baked goods. Any one of these three things would make me a happy passenger, but give me all 3 and I'm on cloud 9 (get it???). You order at the front, and pick up your hot sandwiches in the back. The pressed sandwiches take a bit longer than everything else, so make sure you give yourself enough time if you're catching a flight, believe me it's worth it! The baked goods are perfect to bring on the plane for later, they all look so yummy you'll have a hard time picking just one. I had the lemon poppy seed scone and it was delicious! I've tried the hot sandwich (italian meat), and the cold (turkey and cranberry), and both were very good. The bread that they use really makes a big difference. They have a good amount of seating so grab a spot and enjoy some good eats before you fly! read more

**EXTREMELY STALE BAGEL** I usually stop in here before flights and hadn't ever experienced a problem before today. I was in a hurry and grabbed a bagel with cream cheese and a small water ($7). By the time I boarded my flight and started eating it, I realized I had made a poor decision. I could barely take a bite out of it. It had the consistency of cardboard and I was barely able to break off pieces (by hand or by mouth). Trying to chew it was a whole other challenge. I'm guessing it was a week old bagel that they simply toasted in an attempt to make it seem fresh. I should've known something was up when the guy who handed it to me said, "careful, it's REALLY hot" (that was a first as well). It wasn't over toasted, it was just really stale. Needless to say I could only manage to get down two bites before I gave up. I looked for contact info on the SAN website to email them but couldn't find any. I hate to leave a negative review on here, but in this case it was deserved. read more
