The days are long and boring. The apartments are spacious and housekeeping and the food are very good. But certainly think they could do much better on the activities and field trip side.. professional artists use to come in for classes now they put out some crayons and coloring books. Field trips were monthly and interesting now they are nonexistent. Other than the apartments and the food which is adequate. And most of the employees i would say it is adequate at best and very expensive.

Our mother has been a resident at Waterstone for over four years. When we realized that she would…read morerequire assisted living, we looked at a number of facilities in the Boston suburbs, and interviewed staff. Waterstone was rather new at that point but, comparing it to the other facilities that we looked at, and comparing the costs, we felt that this facility, its staff, the programs - and the food! - made Waterstone the best value and the best fit. Now, four years later, we are happy with the experience our Mom has had at Waterstone. She is suffering from some progressive dementia, and so requires an increasing level of care, but the Waterstone staff has been accommodating and supportive. There is a personal touch to everything, and we rest well knowing that our Mom is well cared for. The programs and events are sophisticated and stimulating - and the staff are open to suggestions for more types of events. We ourselves often visit, eat with our Mom, and attend events with her. We are on a first-name basis with a number of staff members. The facility is ample and is well laid out to encourage social interaction - if Mom doesn't feel up to going out, she still doesn't feel "cooped up" or isolated if she stays inside. She makes use of the library/living room and of the public areas every day. We also like the location - right off of Route 128, behind Wellesley Hills shopping, but tucked away, and adjacent to the Charles River and its walking paths, a footbridge and beautiful foliage. The community of residents is interesting and stimulating. And, in talking casually with other residents and their families, we have found that most are also happy with Waterstone, and it is a supportive residential community. We have highly recommended Waterstone to others looking for assisted living accommodations for their loved ones, and we will continue to do so.

Both of my parents were residents at the New England Deaconess campus often called Newbury Court…read moretil they passed. Rivercrest the nursing home there cared for my mother who had Alzheimers for a decade and the CNAs and nurses there were like our extended family. They went beyond and really care for their residents. She never had bed sores, they kept her up and walking, she was moved to a quieter room at staff suggestion that had a sunny window and beautiful hand painted wardrobe left by a prior resident. It felt as close to home as possible. Dad lived at Newbury Court for about 6 years and had a beautiful one bedroom on the 6th floor with a view of the river. He made many friends as all those in the old neighborhood had died. We celebrated his 90th in the private dining room and they catered it all. There are amazing facilities, pool, music, field trips to cultural events and a very good rehab unit right on site. The Gardens is now my aunt's home as she has dementia and is the secure assisted care again right there. Dad loved being able to walk to Rivercrest every day (indoors so not weather dependent). They care.

My loved one passed away here after a sudden illness. The decision to move to hospice care after a…read more2 week decline from a rare illness was what made the most sense for our family. The room was lovely. 90% off the care team was excellent. One nurse however does not belong here. Unfortunately this nurse delivered the news of my sisters passing-she was on duty for her final days. The support staff tries to make up for the lack of care and empathy for this one person. They have a little memorial service when your loved one leaves with the undertaker. The entire staff for the day is here. This nurse stated in the office. We received a card as well, signed by all, except this nurse. Believe me, I wish I could say one person didn't impact the rest of the wonderful care my sister received, but it did. I wish we had arranged care at home. We did need to stay on top of the medication administration. My sister's illness caused horrible terrors and startles. They were often a bit late to deliver meds meant to keep her comfortable. The chef, amazing, kind and caring. The aides, all wonderful and checked in with empathy often. We did share our concerns and expected a follow up call that never came. If you can't be here around the clock with your loved one, I do not recommend.

I want to single out some staff members who went over and beyond to help me (sorry that I know only first names). My main physical therapist, Kristen, was terrific. She was kind and patient with me, and encouraged me (gently) to push myself. Thanks, Kristen. Nurse Carole was among the hardest working staff members, and she was extremely helpful to me and my roommate. How she kept her cheerful demeanor for her entire shifts was a mystery. The facility's physician, Dr Elkrem, was careful and very pleasant every time we interacted. Several members of the facility's admin staff stood out for helping me and making me feel that my needs would be taken into account: the dietician, Jenny, head of PT, Kelly, and head of admissions, Jenny. Being in rehab is no fun, but these people made the challenging situation more than tolerable. And they got me ready to go home.
