Why do I love Arthur's The tree in Bay Village? They have a great selection of high quality shoes that you can view on their web site. What you can't see is the amazing staff who not only know shoes extremently well, but are very particular about finding the shoe to best serve your needs. I absolutely love this place! As a child my grandma would take us to Arthurs to buy us all of our school shoes. Twenty some years later I bring my little one in for ALL of her footwear. In fact my whole family shops at Arthurs. They have updated their selection to fit every age and every occasion. My little one and I have wide feet but still want to wear cute shoes/boots. Not only did we get our feet scanned by a state of the art machine that provided us with info about our structure, the owner found us the perfect pair (pairs ) and stretched them to fit us perfectly. I'm so happy that this place has continued to thrive and serve our community. You feel good walking in and even better walking out. I can't wait to see what they have coming out this season. The true test of a business is not how they handle things going right it's how they handle things going wrong. My husband and I went shoe shopping together for his birthday before Christmas. He found two pairs and I bought a pair to replace a worn out pair. When I got home and tried my shoes on later I discovered I had bought the wrong size. (I'm right between sizes right now). With all the chaos of Christmas & traveling I couldn't find my receipt. I went back hoping they could help. Jeff & his staff were great. Service, service, service! Jeff is a standout business owner. For the service you receive you'd expect to pay more, but at Arthur's, this is not the case. He special ordered a size for me and had it waiting for me when I visited my family. This is a family business for all types of people. With Arthur's you know you're getting quality and not some garbage that will be thrown out in 3 months. Business or casual, athletic or accessories, Arthur's Shoe Tree has it all. Another great thing about Arthur's is the convenience. Not having to drag everyone to Crocker park or the mall makes getting in and getting out extremely convenient. Only complaint I have is that there aren't more locations nationwide, but that just makes it more special to visit when I am in town. read more

He didn't have my exact size in stock, but he had the color and ordered the right size immediately. It only took a couple of days for them to come in. I've heard nothing but good things about Arthur's Shoe Tree. I know people that won't go anywhere else in the Bay Village area, so I decided to try them and support local businesses. What a mistake! The sales girl we had must have been hired just for this week. They didn't have the first pair of shoes we wanted in stock in my son's size. No problem. They offered to order them, but I really wanted his new shoes for the new school season so I declined. They said it would 'maybe' take a week, and even though I have two weeks I wanted the goods in hand - I wanted him to try on the shoes we were purchasing to avoid a return trip. Fine. So I asked about another pair. The girl brought me three pairs of Girls - not boys - shoes for ds to try on. What? Girls shoes? She apparently just went in the back, grabbed boxes and returned to us (five minutes in between boxes, mind you) and didn't check before hand. Ok, I guess it could happen. I was still patient. I wanted those shoes, they were just the right style. Then it finally came back that they didn't have the shoes we wanted in our son's size. We could order them, or we could have pads put in as he was close to the size up. I again declined about ordering the shoes, nicely. I asked if they could get the size up. She brought back the size up, 'Arthur' himself checked the shoes (not his real name, he bought the store from Arthur many years since). He was very pleasant, a very nice fellow and I liked him immediately. He said, yes the size up shoes would be fine with the pad. So again we wait, while the sales girl gets the pads ready. She puts the pads in, fits our son again, he walks around in the shoes and they are again checked by 'Arthur'. He said we are good to go. My son said they fit, (he's only 5) I had the OK from the manager, we pay and are off. I am complimented on the manners of our son, I thank him for all his help. We get home. I first smell this horrible stench. It is the brand new shoes. The sales girl used contact cement to glue the pads into the shoes. What?! How am I going to remove these when he grows into them? And then the kicker - which makes my confidence in 'Arthur' and his personally checking each pair of shoes dissolve - the two shoes are obviously different sizes! Furthermore, my head started pounding and I was having a hard time breathing - why? The contact cement that saturated the pads of my son's new shoes! Look, I try to be as practical as the next, and reasonable. But there is no way that our son is going to wear shoes that make my head ache and my chest heavy because of the fumes they put into our son's shoes! Later when I talked with my husband, he informed me that contact cement applied the way those pads were to those shoes would never cure correctly. It should be applied - outside - with extreme caution and care because of the noxious fumes it emits. Then - after a Day - the two pieces are put together and they are correctly added. First off, when they told me pads were going to be put in - they never mentioned cementing them in! Ok, so then I call the store. No apology. Bring the shoes back, sometimes that happens. Really? Two different shoes are sold to people and then checked by the owner himself? In all my years of shoe buying this has never happened to me or anyone I know of. So we bring the shoes back - and they say they can't find the mate to the correct size. I then ask - what was I supposed to do when he grew into the next size? 'Arthur' replied that we'd come back and he'd take the pads out. Really? Those pads were not even coming out after three hours - I know because I tried! Even after all this, I was still expecting to maybe make another choice - I still felt the shoes were of great quality and if we could find our son's size we would. Instead, 'Arthur' looked at me and said, "You made it very plain that you didn't want us to order you the size down". Well, yes I did, but I did it nicely. Wasn't that my option? Then the kicker: "Since I see there is no pleasing you, here take your check back and we're all square". My eyes got wide, and said , "Ok" even though we Were fully expecting to perhaps get the correct size shoes that night! But I guess 'Arthur' dismissed me! We went home without shoes again. But no matter. Today we went to Stride Rite where we got, again, excellent service. No they aren't a mom and pop shop, like we hoped to patronize. But they were polite, they had the right shoes, no cemented pads. The price was the same. I'm not saying I'd never go to Arthur's again. The quality was excellent. But am I every going to double check them before we go home. read more

In May 2015 my father in an attempt to help out me out (I was starting a new job and bills had tapped me out financially) took me to this shop. Now, customer service wasn't awful if you take it at face value. They tried to find shoes to accommodate my foot pain issues that would comply with my job. They didn't really succeed on either front I discovered later on, but that isn't my main complaint. My main complaint is that they must have seen a neon SUCKER sign on my father's forhead because the charged around $120 for a pair of shoes I later discovered online at multiple retailers to be at the highest HALF that amount and on some sites only in the $30 range. Not only did they manage one pair at that cost, they milked two out of him. Swore they were the best shoes we'd ever find. Durable, great for posture, an essential cure-all for anything foot related. Well, less than a month into owning the shoes the bottoms around the heel separated and formed into a massive bubble on the bottom that only got worse. Could I afford to find new shoes? No. How could I tell my father who works harder for his money than most people I know that his money was wasted? Eventually I had to. He no longer had the receipt, and the commute from his house to mine is an hour and a half one way. I have fallen countless times because of how awful these shoes are. They wore down into piles of crap faster than any shoe I have owned. My coworkers have cheap crappy shoes that have outlived mine considerably. This isn't what makes me mad though. The quality of shoe reflects on the manufacturer. What makes me red in the face and angry for days is every time I think about how they swindled my father. It really rubbed salt in the wound when a coworker pointed the same pair out on amazon for $30. He spent $120 on $30 shoes. I would ask how you manage to stay in business with such deplorable practices, but its probably because you overcharge customers by obscene amounts. I write this review after having to gorilla glue my shoes back together today and last night in hopes they will make it just a little bit longer, having lied to my father that I bought new shoes already because he was all ready to head on back to these con artists for a new pair of shoes for me, because he would rather believe the shoes were faulty and ignore that they upcharged him four times the amount he could have gotten for them online. Don't waste your time or money at this store. The admittedly helpful customer service sizing and fitting your shoe isn't worth the crazy mark up. read more
