Walking around Hendrickson Park is relaxing , the scenery, the ducks, the pond all make for a calming scroll. The community center offers a variety of activities. The outdoor mini golf area host a lot of free events for children. I go walking there during the morning hours , all passerby's greet each other. This is a wonderful part tree mind, bike, and walking lanes lake pool tennis courts. I ride my bike here regularly. It is great atmosphere scenery. Very nice workers staff. It's just a great place to visit. read more

This is a fishing review at the pond. Free fish clinic here at Valley stream Pond organized by NY Dept of Environmental Conservation DEC. all equipments provided including baits: corn kennels, worms and bread dough ( pillsbury biscuit dough in a can ). Their rods overall worked well except one of the reel got stuck and we had to ask for exchange. Service was good. We were assigned to a specific numbered ( numbers are spray painted on the grass) area to fish. Very minimal shade. Definitely bring your own chairs. Catfish and Carp. Catch and release only by state law. We were there for 5 hours with anglers every 5-10 ft apart. We only saw two ppl got fish including myself. I got only one fish in 5 hours but a big carp ( worm bait) about 15 inches long. A lot of ppl came and go without getting anything. I was told the pond is a sewage dump and polluted. Also there were lots of dried up dog poops along the water front. It was gross. read more

As I jumped on yelp to check in, I realized it was at this park that I did my very first review. Seems like so many childbirths ago lol Today isn't as cold as I thought it would be. Hell where's that elusive snow?!? Started off with a slight drizzle of rain but now the sun is out in all her glory! Up until now it's been 25 years since I've visited this park. When I was a kid my uncle use to live directly across the street so I was there almost every weekend. Coming back after all these years brought back so many childhood memories for me. Going in the pool, feeding the ducks and going on sled rides in the winter. Now there is new generations of kids doing the exact same thing. The park is still kept beautiful but somehow feels so much smaller than it use to be. It's a great spot for running, relaxing or playing Pokémon Go. Yeah I know that I'm an adult but that game is addicting. There are tons of pokeys there if your looking to catch em all! read more

I've been going here ever since I was a little kid. I even now work here for a summer job and I think we do an outstanding job for the public keeping it clean, safe, overall enjoyable and just straight up beautiful. The golf course has never looked better as now there's new plants put in and the cool mist of he fountains flow by as you play. The park just recently had its annual fishing weekend and it was a huge success. People of all ages said that this park was in quote "one of a kind." And I for one am in total agreement. read more

Great park, great pool. I will focus on the pool... The pool complex has been recently updated, the senior area got a bigger tent, and a new family bathroom. The pool is very big with plenty of dependable and friendly lifeguards. The food is pretty good, typical of what you would expect (burgers, hot dogs,fries,pretzels, and churros etc...) The pool complex has a large swimming pool, senior pool which also has a section with 2 diving boards. There is also a kiddie pool and a sprinkler area. A playground is also accessible from the pool. They have changing rooms and a family bathroom(with shower) This is a great family pool, just wish they had more shaded areas. read more

If you live in the village JOIN! It is sooooo worth the fee. This place is like a mini summer vacation. You go there and it feels like you left town. Best of all if your kids school friends are there your kids will run off, leaving you to longe on a beach chair is complete silence. The pool is very safe and life guards, very watchful. This park is a gem. Make sure to check out the swim team and there is an aquatics club. It is synchronized swimming and the kids put on a show at the end of the summer. My kids love this place and it has been our summer memory for the last 11 years. read more

Great park that you would drive right by if you didn't already know about it. 1 mile and 1.5 mile loops around a nice lake/pond/creek. If you've been here you get it. My only let down is they never turn on the lights for the handball courts anymore. I'd be there so much more instead of driving to other towns looking for games at night. Why have the lights if you won't turn them on? You do have police, auxiliary police and park patrol at all times. But they turn on the lights for basketball...but not tennis either. Either way, it's a nice park with a serene feel. read more

This park is lovely and huge. Lots of trees and shaded area. Lots of fearless geese who are familiar with people. Beware of the geese poop! There is a little playground on one side where the young-lings can roam around, a mini golf area, as well as a tennis court. The walking path and the bike path paves the way throughout the entire park. There are plenty of benches and I often see young couples making out. I'm not against public displays of affection, but most of these couples are quite unfortunate looking. Seriously, where are the Brangelinas of Valley Stream to make us feel bad about ourselves? I love to walk, and this park provides a peaceful and scenic walk. There is a huge body of water in the middle of the park and at times the sprinklers will go off in the middle of it. It gleams beautifully during the middle of the day when the sun is high. This is a great place to walk around aimlessly, jog, bike, and hang out in the sun. read more

So it has bothered me for quite a while that as a resident of Valley Stream, my family is not allowed to use the pool at Arthur J Hendrickson Park because our street is not on "the list" of streets whose residents are allowed to use the pool. My kids and I enjoy this park and pool so much. The new bathrooms are great, the staff is always friendly, and overall, it's just a safe place. In the summer we spend hours in the pool and it never gets crowded. There's always room for us to move around and have fun. I just wish they had more umbrellas for shade because it's way too hot to just have like four umbrellas for people to sit under. read more

A small park with a man-made lake, lots of geese and squirrels and short walking/bike paths. Needs a little TLC. The grass needs seeding and there are two sad swans who lie around in garbage all the time. Every time I visit, they look more and more forlorn. Who can blame them? Clean the litter out of the water! I'm not bothered about the ball courts or pool, but those are available. The leaves look pretty in the autumn. read more

Been walking in this park for twenty years and never had a problem. Everyone always seem so relaxed, calm. There's always security hiding somewhere so you can freely walk the entire circle - unlike parks in other parts of Long Island. The pool has been upgraded and the miniature golf is fun especially if you're traveling with a small group. When my kids were small and they had a stressful time in school we would walk around the park and up the bridge and talk - we always left the park smiling:) read more

The park people are really good at cleaning up the geese poop. The geese are nice animals, but I don't like looking at poop. Thanks for cleaning it park people. There's also four pools, one for diving, one for everyone, one for kids and one for toddlers. And a playground that has a sand floor instead of grass. Why???? I like to swing on the swings occasionaly and sand would get in my sneakers. I'm not at the beach you know. Adding to that there is a somewhat short bicycle and jogging path, everyone needs some exercise, eh? On the path there is a bridge with a waterfall and fishies are in it. But it's disgusting because people throw their garbage in it. Also on the path is a lake which is nice to look at if you're bored with your life and spend your time looking at water instead of doing something productive. There's also a tennis court with a bunch of teenagers that always yell their lungs off because they made a shot. And a mini golf course that I've never been to because it cost money which I don't have. On special days there are events held here like flea markets which are actually pretty cool. read more
